ParticipantPhee, your post got me thinking about these passages:
2×04 “The Crocodile”
Mr. Gold: Baelfire is his name. After he left, I dedicated myself to finding him. I went down many, many paths until I found a curse that could take me to the land where he’d escaped.
2x “Manhattan”
Neal: Fine! We- we gotta get off the street. We can’t do it out in the open. I spent a lifetime running from the man. I’m not gonna let him catch me. There’s a bar down the street. We can talk there.
and also from the same episode
Mr. Gold: Well, my son’s been running away for a very long time now. And I have a feeling he’s equally adept at it.

Edited: Having trouble editing post. It ate half of this post and then wouldn’t let me edit. Evidently it’s okay with me slamming my fingers onto the keyboard and allows that to be posted. Grrr.
Anyway…what I was saying was Rumple appears to know that Bae has been running from him. I can see one of the trips being to Neverland and Bae realizes Rumple is there and that is the impetus for him to flee to our world. How he gets here, I don’t know. But Neal knew his dad was searching for him, and he didn’t want to be found.

ParticipantThat’s perfect, KFC.
I wonder what our ponderings would look like to the casual viewer. They’d probably think we were obsessive viewers who spend too much time thinking about a television show. Which is actually true, it’s just we don’t view that as a negative. 😛 Can you imagine explaining Hookriel or Tinka-momma, even the Rumple fangirling, to the average person?
I’m so glad there is a place like this forum, tumblr and twitter so we fandom nerds have a place to let our freak flags fly proudly. My flag would have a picture of a cane and a dagger crossing each other with a teacup in the middle. 😆

ParticipantI have no problem with any of that. I have a one side of my family where my dad’s uncle was also his cousin. Sound strange? No inbreeding needed…I’m not from West Virginia (Sorry, inappropriate Pennsylvanian joke). What happened was my dad’s cousin on his father’s side married his mom’s sister. Go far back enough in your genealogy chart, and if you’re from a small town, you might find some surprises in your background. Scientists aren’t joking when they talk about us all being related if you look back far enough.
While I agree with the theory that Tamara is Robin’s daughter, it would be hilarious if both Marian is alive AND Tamara has no connection to the two of them. At this point it’s all just speculation.
What about Archie as a potential mate for Regina? He’s level-headed, the conscience of the Charming’s war council and already knows what she’s capable of but seems very forgiving. There is that pesky little problem of her mother kidnapping him and framing Regina for the murder, but every relationship has their problems. 😛 Just think, it would be like if Roger got together with Cruella in 101 Dalmatians instead of with Anita. Talk about twisted.

ParticipantFlynn Rider is only permitted to be on this show if Zachary Levi plays him. If they can’t get Zach, then I don’t want the character on the show. 😛

ParticipantI’ve been listening to my iTunes and evidently all songs remind me of someone on Ouat. Sometimes I think I need 12 step detox program instead of this forum. 😛 Anyway, the chorus of the Brandi Carlile song “Hiding My Hear” reminds me of Regina:
I wish I could lay down beside you when the day is done
And wake up to your face against the morning sun
But like everything I’ve ever known you disappeared one day
So I’ll spend my whole hiding my heart away
And I could spend my whole life hiding my heart awayEddy and Adam have teased that she might not be open to love again and fight against it. I can see herself guarding her heard and not wanting to let anyone in. In the past, she knows that romantic love only leads to heartbreak and the only way to have a relationship is to be dominant and manipulative. She won’t want to go back to being vulnerable again. What’s ironic is that she’s desperate to love someone. She wanted Hansel and Gretel to stay with her, same with Kurt and Owen. Then she adopted Henry. She yearns for love but doesn’t go about it in any kind of healthy way. And then wonders why nobody likes her. Poor girl needs intense counseling before she’s ready for any type of relationship.

ParticipantOkay, I’ve got a million thoughts running through my head.
So, building off of RG’s headcanon of Hook being Eric who ran away and joined with Davy Jones’s crew and adopting his name just brought flashing back The Princess Bride with Wesley and the Dread Pirate Roberts. We already know that Colin based his portrayal more on Wesley and not Jack Sparrow. Now that I know that I can see traces of Wesley in him. But what if they took the story, too. Wesley was captured by pirates and told daily that he was going to be killed the next day. It never happened and eventually the Dread Pirate Roberts took on Wesley as his apprentice and then heir. Wesley changed his name and took over the ship and the pirate legacy.
So moving on to how Ariel fits into it. In the original story, the prince falls in love with someone else and marries her. The mermaid’s love is unrequited. What if Ariel was originally in FTL, fell in love with Hook but he was in love with Milah. So Ariel makes a deal with someone (Rumple, Regina, Ursula, …) and becomes human to try to win his love. He could be totally ignorant of any feelings this mermaid/human and it doesn’t work because he’s with Milah. She loses her deal like in the original and instead of turning to see foam is banished to Neverland.
Now’s where it gets tricky. I could see them meeting again after all that time in Neverland, but in my mind Ariel is resentful and bitter toward this man she thought she loved. She’s nursing a broken heart over a guy who never even gave her the time of day.
If we meet her early and all this happened, Hook could still not know all that happened with Ariel and her deal, neither would the audience yet, and Ariel would still be an embittered mermaid, and CaptainSwanFire can go on like planned. After Neal comes back, (I’m admitting right now to my rabid SwanFire love) then Hookriel can move forward in some manner.
Saying all that I’m still not a fan of Hook being Eric at all. I want Eric only showing up in flashbacks as the man who broke Ariel’s heart by marrying someone else and thus her losing her deal and being banished to Neverland. 🙂

ParticipantOkay, we were theorizing in chat and I brought out my parallel to the movie Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves. I think I posted this elsewhere, but I’m reposting it. It’s conversation between Will Scarlet and Robin Hood. Imagine replacing those names with Peter Pan and Rumplestiltskin and there we have the basis for my theory of Rumple=Peter Pan’s brother:
Robin Hood: Did I wrong you in another life, Will Scarlett? Where does this intolerable hatred for me come from?
Will Scarlett: From knowing that… that our father loved you more than me.
Robin Hood: Our father?
Will Scarlett: We are brothers, Robin of Locksley. I am the son of the woman who replaced your dead mother for a time.
I could see it turning out much like this passage.

ParticipantI think Pan is Rumple’s older brother. We talked about this in chat last week, and it’s a stretch but it makes perfect sense! I do have a reason for my madness…
Peter Pan makes his first appearance in a book called The Little Bird. A few chapters are devoted to the character Peter Pan and his early life. They were later extracted to make the story Peter Pan in Kensington Gardens. Very few know that Peter has a younger brother. At the end of the story, a very young Peter decides to return to his mother and coming back to the house finds the window closed and her holding another baby. He think’s she’s replaced him and so he flees to live with the fairies. Here is an excerpt.
“I wish now to go back to mother for ever and always,” they had to tickle his shoulder and let him go.
He went in a hurry in the end because he had dreamt that his mother was crying, and he knew what was the great thing she cried for, and that a hug from her splendid Peter would quickly make her to smile. Oh, he felt sure of it, and so eager was he to be nestling in her arms that this time he flew straight to the window, which was always to be open for him.
But the window was closed, and there were iron bars on it, and peering inside he saw his mother sleeping peacefully with her arm round another little boy.
Peter called, “Mother! mother!” but she heard him not; in vain he beat his little limbs against the iron bars. He had to fly back, sobbing, to the Gardens, and he never saw his dear again. What a glorious boy he had meant to be to her. Ah, Peter, we who have made the great mistake, how differently we should all act at the second chance. But Solomon was right; there is no second chance, not for most of us. When we reach the window it is Lock-out Time. The iron bars are up for life.
So now we have a history of Peter having the existence of a brother. Eddy and Adam are twisted enough to include this little detail. They would definitely be aware of it since Peter Pan is their favorite story. So we have a boy, with no mother and a brother who had taken his place. I’d say he might be a little bitter about that and want his revenge in some way. So my theory is all this is an elaborate plan…from the seer, to the Dark One curse, to the taking of Henry, to destroy the brother who took attention away from him.
Rumple also fits because we know next to nothing about his early life. We know his father was killed for fleeing and he was raised by spinsters. We know nothing about his mother. It’s possible that either/both of his parents had a previous child. A brother that Rumple would now nothing of.
I had more on the theory last week, but I can’t remember it at the moment…but it was brilliant. 😛 Hopefully, I can eventually remember it. I used to come up with sound theories and now everything is outlandish and cracktastic. I think I’ve cracked.
