ParticipantI’m not a fan of Ariel being in FTL though, and really doubt she appears in real world ever (aside from the promo of SB and stealing a fork). Cause Ariel in NY would really be a splash rip off…though they did name check that movie.
See, I think they’re going to go the Splash route. Ariel can temporarily walk on land but must return to water or else she gets sick. Plus, Disney owns the movie Splash so it wouldn’t be such a stretch to see them borrowing from it. (Whenever I think of Splash, I see her stretched out in the tub and her tail unfolding.)
Here’s a harebrained idea to go along with Rumple and the squid ink. What if Ariel made her deal with Ursula but it didn’t turn out well and went to Rumple for help. He told her how to deal with the sea witch and in exchange she gets him the ink he needs. But then how does Regina work into that?
I’m up in the air about Ariel and her connection to anyone. Is Rumple, Regina or someone else the one she made her original deal with? Every question leads to just more questions about her.

When one starts to try and justify their insane actions, isn’t that a true indicator of insanity?
The only response I have to that is:

ParticipantThey could have filmed them and just not shown it. Keeping it under wraps. I wouldn’t put anything past these writers!

Participantand all the casual viewers who don’t waste countless hours indulging in crackpot theories sit there all, “SAY WHAAAAAAAT?!” as the ep ends.

ParticipantMaybe they’re trying to keep it hush-hush and want it to be a surprise. I would be shocking for fandom if Stan appeared since we all follow and know he’s super busy.

ParticipantRG, that little spoiler doesn’t negate the theory that August might have been connected to Tinker Belle.
So he says “a little fairy told me.” A&E have claimed that the BF didn’t have her memories during the curse, so someone had to inform August about Baelfire and everything else. I assume the curse never touched Neverland so Tinker Belle would be free to travel between worlds.
As for Pleasure Island, I always thought that Phuket was August’s own Pleasure Island he ran off to in order to escape his troubles. But I could also see young Pinocchio making a trip to another Pleasure Island. In the movie, it did happen before the ordeal with the whale and washing up on shore. The part of the story we saw in “The Stranger” was the ending of the Pinocchio tale, so they could go back and film young Pinocchio without needing Eion at all. But I still think they need to bring him back to give real resolution to the storyline. That’s the one area I think fans really feel cheated by.

ParticipantThat actually really makes sense about Tink and August. Somehow, THO tipped Tamara off to August’s whereabouts in Asia and planned the whole set up. They’d been tracking him somehow because what’s the odds that Tamara would just bump into someone from a magical land and she just happens to be part of a supposed magic-hating mafia. That lead to there had been some kind of trace on August. Who knows how long, but they were playing him big time.
Sadly, I think we’ll never get the full story behind August. The rumors swirling about Eion Bailey and not getting along with the production crew and the fact that they retconned his character to a little boy appear to me that they don’t want to work with him anymore and that was their way around it.

ParticipantYes, if we hear Tamara’s backstory then she’s history by the end of the episode. Same thing happened with Graham. We finally got his story and dead by the last act. Same as Cora and Johanna and Eva … it seems like a pattern. 😛
If ever get an episode about Moe’s early life, I fear that Belle will be fatherless by the end of the episode. 👿

ParticipantI like that theory, that Blue mistakenly created the Dark One curse in some kind of misguided attempt. It reminds me of the concept of yin and yang. For every dark there is a light, two sides to every coin, etc. I wonder if her messing with the balance of nature ripped apart something and created something unnatural in the magical realm. Sort of how it wasn’t good that Victor worked to bring back his brother and fight the laws of life and death. The result wasn’t pretty. Or it’s just that the Dark One’s powers slipped into the Enchanted Forest and really don’t belong there. Like Superman was just a normal person on Krypton and a “superman” with great powers on Earth.
We’ve also got to look at sources of magic. Right now we know a few sources. There may be more, if there is add it down:
- Fairy magic – wands and fairy dust mined by the dwarves needed (I’m going back to Screwball Ninja’s essay about Blue. So funny.)
- True love – the most powerful magic of all; strong enough to break any curse; yada, yada, yada…
- Natural abilities – Eddy and Adam said some people are born with the spark of magic and they’re the ones who can learn it (e.g. Cora, Regina, Emma). In some cases the source is True Love, others we just don’t know. But they can proudly sing “Baby, I was born this way”
- Curses – we have no proof that Rumple was born with that spark of magic, we have no proof against it, but we do know the magic came with the Dark One curse.
So does the price of magic only result if your magic is a certain type, or is it your intent. Karma, or whatever your culture names it. In Physics, it’s a one of the basic laws of nature: For every action there is an opposite and equal reaction. You put bad magic out there, it’s going to come back in the same way it was put out. I also remember years ago in Economics something called “opportunity costs” that there is always a cost or price to be paid for the decisions you make. If you chose to this, then the price is you giving up doing that. In my case, the choice to post on Oncepodcast forum results in the cost of my living room looking like I should be on an episode of Hoarders 😛
I do wonder then about the Blue Fairy. Many of us are convinced she’s Sneaky Fairy and not to be trusted. It will be the series finale before you can convince me she never had an ulterior motive and even then I’d probably still be suspicious. So if she’s being sneaky and manipulating things, even if it is for the “greater good” will it come back to haunt her. Do the ends justify the means? And if it does, then what about Rumple? He went through all this for a noble cause of finding his lost son. Does his ends justify his means? And if not why do they in the Blue Fairy’s case?
At the end of the day, if the Blue Fairy is the ultimate puppetmaster, I want to see what the ultimate cost she will pay. I really have issues with that fairy.

ParticipantRG, maybe that’s what we’ll end up with — CaptainSwanFire. *ponders* On second thought, this program isn’t on Showtime or HBO, as much as you’d think it was with fanfiction.
