ParticipantMy SwanFire heart cheers a little at Emma being just friends with Hook. But then I’m a sucker anyway for male/female platonic friendships. Too many shows have had this storyline only to have the best friend characters sleep with each other and it turn into a romantic pairing. It’s not always bad, and often I’m cheering for it, but not everything has to be romantic. But then I have the same feeling about SwanQueen. Lana and JMo do have chemistry in their scenes, but why does it have to be sexual? Haven’t you ever met someone you either hit it off with or just rubbed the wrong way and sparks flew but it never went anywhere in that way? It’s what makes life interesting.
I still want to see Ariel living with the life choices she made. All magic comes with a price and I think her price might be something that doesn’t have the happily ever after ending that Disney gave her.

ParticipantIn the Disney version, kids needed to clap or say “I believe in fairies” or something like that to save Tinkerbell after she drank poison. What if she needs the heart of the truest believer to be saved?
It’s not in the Disney animated version that they say this, but they do in every other version of Peter Pan. Why do you think my first post in this thread my mind immediately went through “I do believe in fairies! I do believe in fairies!”
Maybe it also has to do with part of the belief in flying is “faith, trust, and pixie dust” in the Disney animated movie. In the novel it’s “think lovely wonderful thoughts”. Maybe they’re trying to learn to fly and they’re having trouble believing. And then Snow clocks David as they’re learning. Wouldn’t it be hilarious to see Mr. Gold float around with his cane and being told to “think of a wonderful thought”! I would be in stitches on the floor if we saw that!

ParticipantI don’t know what’s wrong with me but I just can’t make it through Wuthering Heights or Jane Eyre. I admit I tried Wuthering Heights in high school and it might be better as an adult, but I just don’t get the Jane Eyre love. I see it everywhere, especially if you’re a Rumple fan as they keep comparing him to Mr. Rochester. But then I disliked the movie Labyrinth, too, and most of Rumbelle fandom is in alt of that movie. I didn’t lke it as a child and I don’t like it as an adult.
If you want epic tragic romance, you can’t do better than The Thorn Birds, a story about girl who falls in love with a priest in Australia. Thinking back to high school, my sister was obsessed with the tv miniseries The Thorn Birds in the 80s. I remember watching it when I was little and it was long and okay, but then when I got to high school in the 90s I saw the book in the library. It’s a massive tomb and utterly fantastic and tragic that covers the lives of these characters from birth to death. The RumplePriest! faction of Rumbelle fandom has nothing on The Thorn Bird. As a non-Catholic who sometimes couldn’t understand the choices made in the novel, I always wondered how Catholics felt about the book.
Off to look at some of the choices on the list….

ParticipantDon’t apologize for long post. I know I’ve made quite a few in the past.
Interesting theory. I see where you’re coming from. It’s interesting to postulate that Peter was separated from his shadow by the experiments of the Home Office/Base/whatever you call it. But I get the feeling that the Home Office was created by Wendy. The reason is the casting of someone older for the role of Wendy. It seems they did it so they could age her at some point. I wouldn’t be shocked for her to show up as an adult and showing the formation of the Home Office. The problem with this theory also is how did they get to be an organization interested in eradicating magic to one most likely run by someone in a magical land.
I don’t think we’ve seen the rest of Peter and Wendy connection. The main thrust of the original story, and also titled “Peter and Wendy” was the relationship between the two and the paths each took: one decided to grow up and the other couldn’t make that commitment.
It will be exciting to see what the real story is with everything going on between Wendy/Bae/Peter Pan/Henry/everyone else.

ParticipantI don’t get the controversy, either. Kids grow up. Yes, they’re in Neverland but I don’t think they’re going to be there for years so it shouldn’t be an issue. They already alluded to Henry growing up with Mr. Gold’s little dream about killing Henry on his birthday, so I don’t think it’s going to be that big of a deal.
I mentioned Harry Potter in another thread, but it fits here, too. People were complaining that the kids were growing up too fast, but I never understood the worry. Did they not realize that each year the characters grow older? Heck, Hermione was a few months shy of nineteen when the final battle occurred. When you have thirty year olds playing teens on tv, I don’t think Henry getting a bit taller is going to be a problem, especially when it can be easily written into the script…at least when they come back from Neverland. 😉

ParticipantI was so happy last night when I saw that van on tumblr. Belle really needs to reunite with her father. We’re all rallying for Neal and Gold to reconcile, but then we have Belle in a similar situation. Her father didn’t move worlds to find her, but like Rumple, he did what he thought was best to get his child back to him. It was wrong, it was horrible, but it did come from a place of love.
It seemed they were close before the deal with Rumple, judging by her being allowed in the war room and openly talking strategy with the men in “Skin Deep” so maybe they can have a bit of closeness again. Belle needs someone to turn to. Maurice might have been a lesser noble, but he does have experience ruling, even if it was probably a minor sovereignty.
I’d also love when Neal comes back for him and Belle to bond. They have much in common with their father troubles. I think they could really help each other. Plus, Neal has a skewed vision of Belle because of his encounter with Lacey. They really need to meet again have some future stepmother/future stepson time. 😛
( I can already see the BelleFire shippers creeping out of the woodwork…urgh).

ParticipantGoes back to the old discussion on fertility and the Enchanted Forest. Fertility rates are way off balance compared to what they should be in a period without modern medicine and technology. Unless everyone is running to Rumple for magic potions or spells, the birth rate should be much higher. I can understand few pregnancies when time starts moving in Storybrooke because of modern birth control, but it’s not 100% effective and I would think a few babies would be starting to pop up here and there throughout the very large town. Once Emma showed up and time started moving, Ashley was able to have the baby so I would bet that people would be able to conceive, too. It’s just one of those things that we just shouldn’t think about, kind of how we think about the other kids in the classes in Harry Potter (it’s said there are a thousand kids in school yet each level only has a handful…the numbers never did add up).
