The more I think about it the more I think our Mystery Man is Baelfire, Peter Pan and Henry’s dad. I do wonder if the bean took Bae to “a land without magic” or someplace he needed to be. If it was the later, then I can see him being sent to Neverland. In the story of Peter Pan, Peter visited our world to listen to Wendy’s stories. Maybe he was visiting and somehow got stuck in our world, forcing him to grow up. He felt some attraction to Emma because they’re both from the Enchanted Forest and they had a fling. Then later he met August because he recognized another fairytale land person and they struck up a friendship.
If Hook turns out to have ran away with Bae's mom, it would come full circle for Bae to be Peter and have Hook as his nemesis. Plus, I think Rumple had something to do with cutting off Hook's hand. The whole Rumplestiltskin family intertwined with Captain Hook.
Yikes, if that's true, then the supposition of Emma and Hook being involved in the future would really light up Storybrooke.

JosephineParticipantOkay, there was only one wraith in “Broken”. Here’s how it went down:
- Belle made Gold promise not to kill Regina.
Gold, trying to keep his promise by the loophole of not doing it himself, took the medallion out at the shop.
Gold goes to the jail and marks Regina with the medallion.
He then goes to the woods and with the dagger, summons the powers of the Dark One and stabs the medallion.
The wraith comes up through the medallion and is now wearing it. Gold didn’t take it back. He no longer has it, the wraith is wearing it.
The wraith goes after Regina and with Emma, Snow and Charming’s help send the wraith into another world.
Emma and Snow get sucked into the hat, too.
The wraith emerges in what’s left of the Enchanted Forest, along with Emma and Snow, who are unconscious under the rubble. The wraith flies into the air.
Phillip battles the wraith and with his sword knocks the medallion, which Gold had hours before, off the wraith and as it flies away he picks it up and it marks him.
The wraith eventually sucks Phillips soul out and it’s now inside the medallion. Mulan gives it to Aurora.
Emma and Snow begin to come around from their unconsciousness under the rubble and Mulan hears them. Knowing they came at the same time as the wraith, she thinks they’re bad guys.
See. One wraith, not two. But I think many exist in the Enchanted Forest or other realms. Just in this instance it was the same exact wraith in both Storybrook and FTL. It’s just the Storybrooke story came first and the FTL story came immediately afterward, even though they were showing them concurrently.

It’s my opinion that Mr. Gold does not have his powers back, that is why he does not look like the Rumple of old, and that is why he can kiss Belle and not lose his powers (since he does not have powers). He, like anyone, can use magically objects, like the wraith medallion and the Dark Oneβs dagger, but he does not “have” magic in him. Iβm sure he is not too concerned about this at the moment, as others have pointed out that his shop is probably full of magical items. This is also why his castle in FTL was full of magical objects from other magical humans and creatures. He had already had a long range plan of gathering these objects and having them nearby (along with the true love potion) for when the curse was in-acted, and everyone would be sent to a non-magical place.
That’s interesting and sounds plausible. We know magic is stored in objects because of Regina’s ring, which I noticed was back on her finger in the season two premiere. Evidently using it for Jefferson’s hat didn’t destroy it. And we know that whoever controls the dagger controls Rumplestiltskin so the dagger has magic stored in it. So maybe that was the only way to get the wraiths to come out, by stabbing it. We’ll have to study Gold further for any instance of him using magic.
Another thing was “Dark One” Rumple always spun straw into gold, but in Storybrooke, there was nothing magical about Gold’s spinning. He wasn’t using his magic, even though there was a basket of straw in the room that he was spinning in. Maybe he can’t because the magic isn’t “in” him. He was doing what he did pre-Dark One curse…spinning wool into yarn.
The way I see it, there was magic everywhere in FTL (Bae said as much in his conversation with BF) and that’s why it was easy for some people to use it–they could tune into it like listening to a radio. I think that because the magic was brought by the same potion that gave Emma the magic needed to break the curse, I think she is the only one who can tune into the right frequency (like being the only radio that picks up AM stations), but when she touches people it adjust their dial for a little while, if that makes any since.
That’s interesting, too. Maybe Emma is like a set of rabbit ears (for those who remember what those actually were).
Maybe both are correct. Maybe magic needs a conduit, like with the fairies needing wands and fairy dust. The objects, like Rumple’s dagger and even Emma herself, are conduits that allow the magic to travel and be used.

JosephineParticipantMaybe there is just enough fairy dust to get them to Storybrooke but none to get them back. That would solve the issue of going back and forth between worlds.

JosephineParticipantOmg, FireWood sounds bad in so many ways. π Where is Peter when you need an inappropriate Pinocchio joke?
Dove…pigeon…it’s all the same family.
I think it’s interesting that Mystery Man has a collection of clocks just like Henry does and Mr. Gold does. Hmmm…I know people are saying he’s the White Rabbit, but that screams Baelfire to me. Like father, like son, like grandfather. π

JosephineParticipantI didn’t necessarily mean Emma was in the episode. Just that I think Hook isn’t in Storybrooke and he’s in Fairytale Land with Emma and the others. She doesn’t need to be in the episode at all.
I have no idea why Smee would attempt to kidnap Belle without Hook if Hook is stuck in Fairytale Land.
The best idea I’ve heard yet for Emma and Snow returning, although I know it’s not going to be in this episode, is them flying in on Hook’s ship into Storybrooke Harbor, like they do in the end of Peter Pan.

JosephineParticipantWell, Eddie and Adam have addressed the question of what Charming’s real name is by stating “keep watching”. So evidently it’s something important. Even Regina called him David and acknowledged the fact that Charming was an imposter. So maybe she ended up giving him his shepherd’s name. She’s twisted and might think it’s funny that the powerful Charming is once again known by his peasant name.
I think it’s funny that Eddie and Adam refuse to tell us Mr. Gold’s first name, too. They had the same response of “keep watching”. I just want to know both of their real names.

Finally, I’m not sure if this the cover on his pull out bed is a Balfour tartan, but it sort of looks like a variation of it to me.
Here is a picture of Henry sitting on his bed. The pattern is smaller, but is it similar or from the same family.

JosephineParticipantI always thought, too, by the pilot that Regina would have had the baby killed. Just they way she talks to her guards.
I think Emma is going to need time and patience to work everything out in her head and heart.

JosephineParticipantMaybe Belle goes for another “walk” and discovers Gaston walking around Storybrooke with a pegleg. He tells her the last thing he remembers is standing in Rumple’s doorway, and she gets angry. π
Ohh, here’s my theory. Belle gets angry at Gold after she finds out he beat her dad up last Valentine’s Day, so she walks out to see her dad. On the way, she comes across Smee, who is the old aquaintance who abducted after she left Rumple. Her undoing is him capturing her once again. Either the Queen put him up to it, or more likely Hook, knowing she was connected to Rumple wanted her to torment Rumple, and then somehow Hook gave Belle to Regina in exchange for something else. So off Gold goes to assemble the possee of Charming and Moe to find Belle and get her back, proving his love for her by working with her father since they have to work together to get her back.
The only fly in the ointment is I assumed Hook is in whatever is left of the Enchanted Forest because in the promo there is a pic of Emma having him in a headlock with a knife to his throat. I’m surprised he has a Storybrooke counterpart now after seeing that promo. But that scene could be after she returns to Storybrooke. We don’t know how many episodes are included in the clips.
