JosephineParticipantYippee!! I just hope ABC doesn’t do what NBC is doing to all my favorite shows, only ordering 13 episodes. According to TVLine, freshman and sophomore seasons usually only get 13 episodes and then have to get the back 9 based on ratings. Let’s hope OUaT remains high in the demo ratings.
I wish I had a Nielson box…tv would look a lot different if they were figuring my viewing into ratings. 😆

Even worse, it might hold up Gold’s search for Bae. The guy’s addicted to power, and putting him in a situation where he would be able to use magic again would get him sidetracked. It’ll be like dangling a piece of candy in front of someone with a large sweet tooth. And since Regina has the feeling that Gold wants the curse broken, he might take a chance to use magic again just to keep her off his back.
That describes an addict falling off the wagon. 😯 That man really can’t be trusted with magic. He was ready to give it up when there was no power behind the dagger, but if he gets that little taste back, it might make him have that monkey right back on his back. I really hope he doesn’t completely turn back into Rumple.
That would mean Hopper would turn back into a cricket, also.

JosephineParticipantI’m with you Midnight Dreary, I think that’s his whole focus. I don’t think he gives a fig what the townspeople think of him. All he’s interested in is his son. Which makes you wonder, depending how the finale works out and if he finds out about Belle, how will that effect his plans?
I don’t know if it’s been mentioned, but has anyone else noticed that as the curse is weakening he’s turning into Rumple more and more. Just in his last two encounters with Regina, I could see Rumple’s mannerisms popping out. It’s like he’s turning into a human version of Rumple, if that makes sense. He’s doing the hand flourishes and his voice is changing subtly.

JosephineParticipantI picked Mystery. I thought it looked like an interesting show, but it turned into so much more than I thought it would be. The storytelling is what hooked me, not the shipping or the magic, but the mystery and the writing that is so tight that it’s fantastic. Similarly, it’s the same exact thing that got me hooked on Harry Potter. To people who have never read the series, it’s hard to explain that it’s not really just about a boy wizard, but at its core it’s a story about family, mystery and tight woven storytelling that engages people. JK Rowling mentions things off-handedly in the first novel that might not show up until book 3 and it’s real significance isn’t found out until books 6 or 7. The same thing with OUaT, I get that tightness of storytelling. It engages us and makes us not just watch but think and predict and forces us to utilize higher-level thinking skills like deduction, reasoning and evaluation. Not very many shows do that.

JosephineParticipantBetween this and the Story Book thread that’s the main thing I’ve been thinking about OUaT right now. Who wrote that darn book! Maybe August did write it. He could have heard stories as a child. Did he deny writing it and just editing it?
It does make sense about Gold not writing it because he only remembered when he hear Emma’s name, but could he have written it as Rumple and it made it’s way to his shop in Storybrooke? Maybe whilst sitting in a dungeon cell? But he did seem a little insane in those first episodes.
Do we really have to wait until next season for this answer? Why wasn’t Henry more interested in who actually wrote it than just what it contained?

JosephineParticipantHere are some that remind me of the show…
I used to think about Lupin from Harry Potter (I still haven’t gotten over that 😥 ) but now I’ve been thinking of Belle’s view of Rumple
Do What You Have To Do by Sarah MacLachlanThere are a few I listen to on the CCR Chronicles album, an essential album on it’s own, but John Foggerty sings some strange lyrics sometimes:
For anyone with Magic
I Put A Spell On YouIn honor of the curse
Bad Moon RisingEmma believing, August returning, maybe Bae returning.
Long As I Can See the LightAndrew Lloyd Webber’s musicals are coming to mind, too:
Snow and Charming. This just reminds me of them.
All I Ask of You from Phantom of the OperaRumple and Belle
Point of No Return from Phantom of the OperaBelle after leaving Rumples manor
On My Own from Les Miserables (Glee version because I love Lea Michelle singing the full version from the Pilot)Emma, Regina, Rumple, etc…anyone with a complicated non-ideal past
I Dreamed a Dream from Les MiserablesI have more but I’m sick of adding YouTube links right now, so I’ll add more later.

JosephineParticipantJosephineParticipantI don’t think Mr. Gold would be the type to advertise. He seems the type where you come to him, not the other way around. I would have laughed my butt off though in the theater.
I think we need a OUaT songlist thread where we can all list what songs remind us of the show. Lately, a few songs from Les Mis and Phantom have been having strong OUaT feelings for me.

JosephineParticipantHere’s my cliffhanger prediction. As the show ends and magic is returning we see someone come into town….dum, dum, dum….Emma goes ashen, Gold goes ashen, and Bae appears. 😮
