JosephineParticipant
I do not like the new chat room. It worked when I first brought it up, and it did take up half the screen, but then it failed every other time in Chrome and it doesn’t even show up in IE for me. I keep getting a pop up that the widget couldn’t load.
Edited: I found out how to change the size of the chat room. Drag the left side and it will move over and become narrower. I can do that, but it will not load to actually see people talking.

JosephineParticipantLike many who were there to see the filming last night live, I was a bit shocked they didn’t have a closed set. That many spoilers leaking out. But then I really thought about it. Why keep it a secret? Ratings are down and giving people massive spoilers might get fans excited to see how it ends up on screen rather than a spoiler blackout. They have nothing to lose by having an open set. People will be talking and debating and ranting about the spoilers, hence keeping the show in their sight. Quietness could lead to forgetfulness and becoming ambivalent about watching the show.
Which makes me think they also let the “Spoiler of Doom” out on purpose. Fandom was in a tizzy all last Winter. The problem with that was it fractured and broke the fandom forever.

JosephineParticipantMaybe, Corbin, it’s because they [maybe, probably, definitely] have strayed from their original vision and that the changes and concessions they’ve made to get through the series has altered the show.
RG, you’re just so smart. 😉 I bow down to your knowledge. And it makes me wonder how I made it through undergrad without having to take a literature class. It was all scientific and technical writing and then grad school was children’s literature. I might not remember my Greek tragedies but I am an expert at the Dr. Seuss catalog. I don’t think Green Eggs and Ham is applicable to analyzing Emma or Rumple. However, Oh, the Places You’ll Go is quite handy to reference for many of life’s situations.

JosephineParticipantReally, with all the spoilers I’m still not excited about this show. And I still think despite the spoiler that Bobby IS returning that his current incarnation will die. I have said before I think he could come back for flashbacks of Rumple. That would allow him reduced screen time to promote his new film, which is kind of a big deal in the UK, which I predict will be released in the fall. We know it’s 2015, just not what month. I will be shocked and gobsmacked if Rumple lives at the end of this season but not if he returns for a limited run next season.
And all the SQ/CS crap in the finale doesn’t excite me, either. Bah. Sorry, but it’s the same old….season 2 Neal falls down a beanhole and “disappears” and tells Emma to live for Henry, season 3a Rumple sacrifices himself to deal with his dad and help the town, 3b Neal dies to save his father and for the “greater good”. Yada yada yada. It’s tiring and loses it’s wow factor.

JosephineParticipantIsn’t it possible that Mr. Gold could die in the present but RC could still be back next season to film Rumpel flashbacks?
I mean, if he has a 5 season contract, I’m sure that would still fulfill it. Plus he has said he enjoys playing Rumpel more than Gold. Plus Rump has met everyone in the past so im sure even if he dies, he’d still be there for flashbacks. This is what I actually am leaning towards will happen, Watcher. It would allow for a reduction on his filming time if he wants it, but he’s still a member of the cast.

JosephineParticipantNo matter if Rumple lives or dies by the end of this season he’s going to have a “death” of some kind, I would bet. The variables are will it be by exorcising the evil from him in battle vs. Emma, Belle’s TLK, or an outright being stabbed and someone becoming the new Dark One. Or it could be a combination of things. Where you stand comes down to whether you believe Bobby will be back for season five. Is there a place or purpose on the show for a powerless Rumple? I personally think he’s not returning for season five, and if he does it will be for the occasional flashback and not full time.
Personally, I think it’s going to come down to a final showdown of him and Emma. Emma prevails, Rumple is weakened, Belle kisses him and his curse is completely lifted. He’s once again the humble spinner, a human, but the price to pay for his exorcism and redemption is death. Human Rumple passes away, finally at peace, his soul finally free. Shippers get their TLK, Dearies get a curse free Rumple and Emma is reborn, stronger and more confident in her role as the savior.
Sidenote on TLK: Most fairytales are not hinged on True Love’s Kiss. That is more of a Disney invention. Beauty transforms the Beast with her tears and mourning, Snow White is awakened when one of Prince’s men trips and jostles the coffin dislodging the apple piece, older versions of Sleeping Beauty she’s awakened by her nursing child. Disney has really affected how most view fairy tales to the point the originals are unrecognizable, but much more interesting.

JosephineParticipantWill briefly had magical powers himself as a genie. Could it be he has some kind of inside knowledge of some kind? I have no idea what that would be but he was magical for a short period of time. I do think he knows much more about the book and author than he is letting on. And ultimately, his role is a bridge to next season when many of us predict that Jafar will make an appearance.
Keeper of Rumplestiltskin's and Neal's spears and war paint and crystal ball.
JosephineParticipantOf course, Jafar is the big bad of 5a. No way will they NOT do it. With Aladdin’s re-release in October it’s a given meaning that Rumple’s story arc will be concluded by the season finale.
How do you conclude an arc by someone who is integral and woven into the fabric of the show? You kill him off. His evil arc will not bleed into season five. The only way I could see Rumple staying with the show is it his curse is lifted, so then it would be a metaphorical death. But I would be shocked to see it go this direction.
I do think we’ll have some type of confrontation of Lily vs. Emma. She’ll once again feel betrayed. *sigh* Light vs. dark. And in the end Lily will be redeemed somehow.

JosephineParticipantI think many of us have always thought Emma would “die” in some form at some point in the series. Like has been reiterated many times, saviors die and are reborn in some capacity. It’s a classic theme of literature.
I do have a question. Often in literature, the “savior” has a teacher, a mentor who is killed off at some point, thus enabling them to rise to the challenge alone. In Harry Potter, it was Dumbledore who was taken. Although I’m not a fan, even I know it was Obi Wan in Star Wars. Does Emma have this counterpart? Some would say it’s Regina, but she really hasn’t been that big of a mentor. Would it be Rumple himself? He does seem to be the one everyone ran to in seasons past when something went wrong. Could Rumple be both the “temptation/devil” and “mentor” to the savior?

JosephineParticipantOh, just looking at all these pictures and remembering when the show actually made sense. *sigh*
