JosephineParticipant
Kranen, you gave me my laugh for the day.
I give you props for sticking with your theory, but to play devil’s advocate you’re putting a lot of foresight and faith in the writers’ abilities. Something a lot of us have lost in the past year. If this were a J.K. Rowling novel I’d say yes, definitely it all ties in, but this is a tv series and the showrunners aren’t really that intelligent or even care about their story to tie everything together that far into the future. These are guys who said “no time travel” yet we had time traveling. Supposedly “dead is dead” unless you’re magical, or it isn’t your time, or …. I really can’t see them planting someone in a random background to use a year and a half to two years later.
I like your tenacity, though. 😉

JosephineParticipantPhee! I think you’ve found out how Adam and Eddy come up with their stories! We’ve cracked the code on season four.
OMGOSH. This is ACTUALLY how they write the show!!! LOL
Can I cry now?

JosephineParticipantOmg, you guys this rp thing is …..
I got:
–Will and Belle cuddle (what’s left of my Rumbelle heart is broken)
–Regina with a hangover, but Emma is feeling fine (*raises eyebrow*)
–Hook and Ursula are in an arranged marriage, but Hook doesn’t want to go through with it. (haha…maybe that’s how he wronged her)

JosephineParticipantToo many times our criticisms are dismissed as being disgruntled shippers, but that’s really not the case. I have watched other shows where two people got together I didn’t like or they broke up a couple I loved. There’s nothing novel about it. In reality, our grievances go much deeper. We all have our theories on why the show is losing ratings (and despite how much you want to spin we’re fine and winning the night we are losing people).
In a addition to what’s been listed previously I would add the segmented season as a black mark. Once is treating the two halves like two different seasons. Other shows have this split season, too, but are treating it as one season cut just cut into two viewing parts, not two separate arcs. These mini seasons aren’t allowing us to delve into and flesh out stories so it goes back to they rely on a formula as a road map to their writing.
Another thing to add to the list is lack of world building parameters. I’ve mentioned this often. If you set up rules to your world, then YOU MUST FOLLOW THEM. When showrunners tell us there is “no time travel” and “dead is dead” then turn around and change it on us, then they are ultimately lying to us. I don’t care what loopholes you make up…it’s lying. Why should I get invested and theorize about a story where there are no rules, continuity or growth.
See, all these criticisms and and not one of them are about shipping. *gasps*

JosephineParticipantWe’re assured a season 5 like RG mentioned but to piggyback on her example of 12 vs 22 episodes for Season 5, it’s also what budget the show will actually get for it’s next season.
Ad rates are based on ratings so a show with ratings that have fallen still might be a viable show to buy air time during but maybe at a lower rate. Therefore the show brings in less money. Less money translates into less episodes and/or lower budget. So for our show it could mean less special effects, smaller budgets for costuming or even casting cuts.
The ratings watch isn’t always about just cancellation vs. renewal.

JosephineParticipantThe bad characters show most of the cleavage on this show for whatever reason, have you noticed?
From Lily’s review.
And I kid you not….Jo said that EXACT same thing last night at the Ranch
For a minute I wondered if YOU were Lily Sparks, RG when I read that quote. 🙂 It’s almost like a mole has inflitrated. 😆

JosephineParticipantYes, we already had his “death” and “transformation” once before but not in context of the B&tB story. He still has his beastly curse. We never got closure from that act. So I think we will have some version 2.0 of his sacrifice of some sort.
I just see no other way to have closure on this fairytale other than his death. And I have a feeling it will be in a totally unexpected way. Someone taking advantage of his mortality. Kind of like surviving a plane crash and then getting killed by car on the way home from it.

JosephineParticipantI have such a crush on Kevin Kline. *sigh* I could have also seen him cast as Lumiere, but I can picture him as a mad inventor.

JosephineParticipantI truly think Rumple is going to die at the end of this season. Just a niggling feeling I have. Rumbelle is at the point that they only way to ever get reconciliation is a “grand gesture”. Something massive.
So, what’s left of the B&tB story? Their separation and his “death” and transformation. We’re currently in the separation phase. They’re apart. So we need them to come back together. The problem is they’ve ignored their own characters and their growth and motivations. I can’t see either of them truly getting over their trust issues for a lasting relationship. I do think we’re going to get one last reconciliation and our TLK finally as recompense for the misery they’ve put us through.
So he’s kissed and his curse is shed. However, what is the future of Rumple without his curse? His son is gone, his relationship although there is love is so broken that it’s toxic. And now he’s a mortal. While I might think his struggle is interesting, A&E aren’t into character studies anymore. And so he’s killed off. Tragic ending but they give us a conclusion to our Rumbelle story.
And to bring a baseball metaphor into it since ’tis the season, they have Will waiting in the background as a pinch hitter. He’s been warming up in 4B as Belle’s “boyfriend” and so they have somewhere to go next season if Rumple is gone. He’s now on deck.
Of course I could be completely wrong, but I can’t see any other alternative.

March 16, 2015 at 3:37 pm in reply to: FAVORITE AND LEAST FAVORITE MOMENTS … 4 X 14 ENTER THE DRAGON #298786JosephineParticipantOkay, I haven’t done this in a while but I’ll list my likes and dislikes:
Likes:
–The chocolate cake at Granny’s. I really like chocolate cake.
–I admit I liked Regina’s “The Charming Softball team and their pirate.”
–Watching the show with my compatriots. I couldn’t get through this without you.
Dislikes:
–Everything else
I have given up trying to reconcile pesky things like timelines, continuity and character growth. Sometimes it’s just easier to ignore the first two seasons happened at all…or consider it a different series. I literally said last night “Can I just press mute and watch Bobby’s pretty face?” As a series long Dearie, this sense of ennui toward Rumple is sad and something I never thought I’d feel. Congratuations, showrunners. That took a lot of talent to accomplish.
