ParticipantI’m actually kind of shocked that Emilie and MRJ were actually included in the special. I really didn’t expect it.
Any chance the ducks will make a cameo today, RG? Are they getting ready to watch the show today like the rest of us. 😛

*bows* Thank you. Thank you.

ParticipantHappy Once Day, my SwanFire brethren. Let’s maintain composure in the face of ship baiting and crowing and keep your vessel afloat. We’re heading into the rapids, but I hope we can navigate through the choppy waters and come out the other end of the season to the calm (and not get dashed onto the rocks along the way). I’ve not be the most positive shipper but I promise to hold on tight, wear my life vest and not fall out of the boat.

ParticipantThe genie in the oil lamp is totally Aladdin’s genie. 🙂
I agree that Amara is his mother. But the interesting thing is he said the locator spell was a simple one that anyone could learn. You don’t need to be magical to do it. That makes me think this may come back to us in Once. with a certain missing imp.

ParticipantYeah, the third season of Glee did it for me, too. When people ask about it, I tell them watch Season one. It’s brilliant and fantastic. But stop at the season finale and pretend the show is one season long. It makes life easier that way. I caught two episodes I think last year and realized I didn’t regret leaving it. Really, Santana/Quinn? I did watch the memorial episode this season and cried like a baby but it felt like the old show and haven’t been back.
I can see where you’re coming from with recasting. I used to watch soaps faithfully long ago so I was used to it and it doesn’t bother me as much. I see a lot of people saying they hate Neal because he’s nothing like Bae, but even casting someone else more Bae-like would get them to like his character.
Personally, I think MRJ was perfect. When you itemize down all the characters has been through all his life, it would be unrealistic to think he wasn’t changed. Just look at what your 14 year old self was like. And this is a man who was:
- Conscripted into the army as a teen
- Got out of it by dad getting an evil curse
- Abandoned by his father into a foreign world
- Separated from his adoptive family into another foreign world
- Learned his mother abandoned him too for a pirate
- Kidnapped for hundreds of years by his yet-to-be known of grandfather
- Went who knows where else [ *cough* Oz *cough* ]
- Back to the foreign world with unknown technology and social mores
- Falls in love and loses her so she can save her family and their old world
- Finds out he’s a father
- Betrayed by a fiancé who shoots him
- Son is kidnapped and he is captured yet again by the same person who had him for centuries
- Reunites with son and father only to have his father “dead” and his son with no memories living in another world yet again.
Give this man a cookie, a hug, anything he wants. And people expect him to be the same bright eyed child he was at 14 years old. 😐

ParticipantHaha aw shucks you guys.. I’ll do my best to not forsake thee. I spent the hiatus trying to convince myself I didn’t care, that it was just a show and I could turn my back at the drop of a hat. (Ask Glee, the Mentalist or any other show that pee’ed me off when they messed with a storyline I loved) but I can’t. I love fairytales and I want to believe so badly in happy endings in our world. I can’t turn my back just yet, because amidst the chaos and cruelty that everyday life holds for everyone; this silly, corny little show gives me an escape and beyond that, a sense that if there’s hope for Emma and Neal in this crazy world lacking magic.. maybe there’s hope for us real folks too.
Do I detect a fellow ex-Glee fan? That show has damaged me and why I’m looking at Once with stink eyes.
I, too, love fairytales. I always have since I was a little girl and not just the Disney version. Fairytales were cautionary tales primarily but there were also motivational and uplifting ones. I remember falling in love with Beauty and the Beast years before Disney ever released it as a movie. It was originally meant to show future brides who didn’t know their husbands that men weren’t all horrid (hehe). But at their heart they all have happy endings and justice is met. Okay, I’ve rambled and forgot my point. 😈
Anyway, I do see SwanFire as a new fairytale. The reason for the curse and the savior meeting in a strange land neither were born to with a population in the billions and falling in love and having a child. Then they’re separated again and reunite. If I look at this story from a casual fan perspective I’d say there’s no way Neal is gone. But then the pragmatic part of me realizes that this isn’t a novel and you have to take into account actors, writers, producers and networks. Everyone has their own agenda and stories morph and evolve down completely different avenues.

ParticipantI watched Adele Dazeem sing that the other night on Jimmy Fallon. Very cute.
I’ve been reading all the goodies posted, but my heart is sad. I hate to get everyone down. I am every bit a SF and Neal fan. Probably now more than ever, but today was just another nail in the coffin, so to speak. I’m kind of more excited to see the conclusion of Wonderland than I am to watch the main show and I’m not the biggest fan of it.
I envy all of you with hope still driving you on. And I support you. I will try to be positive. And really, this is the only thread I follow now 😉 So keep the goodies posted. Let’s spam this baby for the next few days. 👿

ParticipantHoly moly! What if people who said he’d be the wizard were right?!
Hmmmm
I’m leaning more to Wizard’s apprentice myself and that Bae caught a ride out of Oz via balloon when the real Wizard left, but it is interesting that MRJ seems to be leading us in that direction
That’s my theory! That’s my theory! Even HE likes it! Neal goes from Neverland to Oz and then learns his conman ways from the Wizard who was originally from our world and they come back here in his balloon. It’s the only theory I’ve made and I’m sticking by it. There is a reason we didn’t see Bae’s escape from Neverland. This has to happen.
