ParticipantRumple misleads and uses the fine print. He DOES lie outright–but we rarely saw him do so before S4. He’s always believed that the ends justified the means, at least as an adult–even when he injured himself to escape the ogres war, he was following that exact, selfish creed. We sympathize because he wanted to be with his wife and son, but it still followed the pattern we’re seeing with him now.
The logic he uses with the heroes when they call him out on using them follows it, too: “Did you get what you wanted? Then it’s all good, right?”
While recognizing that the creators’ vision of the character has shifted since then, I still firmly believe that Rumple’s statement about not lying in S2 holds–he believed that about himself. Zelena’s treatment and the temptations of the hat overrode that, but prior Rumple did generally stick to his deals and give some version of the truth to those who dealt with him.

ParticipantWell, the landlord phrasing suggests that it does belong to the sorcerer, but it could just be a callout that never shows up again :p
Also, I suspect the experiment refers to one of their attempts to get the fairies out of the hat.

ParticipantRegina and Emma referenced the fact that Regina was returning to the Mayor’s office…I think MM decided she wanted to teach instead. And as to moving to different levels…that’s allowed in most schools.

ParticipantLiked!
1. Belle Has A ROLE. She’s part of the team and acknowledged as such. She talks to people who aren’t Rumple THAT SHE HAS SPOKEN TO IN OTHER EPISODES. (Most of the time she makes a good friend and then…never sees them again.)
2. Rumple being sneaky while in a robe consuming ramen. On my partial rewatch, the image made me laugh out loud, knowing what was coming.
3. Rumple’s swagger over the town line. That was a glorious moment.
4. Rumple’s sorrow at the town line. Echoes of past times at the line (like in S2 when he learned they were trapped, for example) really came through there.
5. Belle & Hook’s friendship. I wasn’t sure I’d buy it, but it actually did feel natural (especially with the time jump and their shared goal).
6. Emma’s smiles. OMG. She was SO pretty this episode and it wasn’t the costume (though maybe the hair–curls!). I think it was just Happy Emma. To the point that I’m almost cool with CS. All the actors in Once are gorgeous people anyway, but I don’t think I’ve ever looked at Emma and gone “Wow, she is REALLY pretty!” like I did in this episode.
7. Cruella & Ursula. I was really not sure how they’d fit in, but teaming them with Rumple got the snark going strong and Cruella especially surprised me with how much I enjoyed her character (I’m not such a fan of 101 Dalmations, tbh, and I was -really- skeptical of how she could fit in, but that performance sold me). Ursula’s character seems like it could have some real depth if they really use the mythology they set up around her in S3, and I’m fascinated to see what comes of that.
Disliked:
1. I know they’re setting up suspense and all, but…whatever happened with Snowing and the QoD, I…don’t actually care right now.
2. Is Blue the Original Power or not? I know she’s a tertiary character, but she’s a big player in the mythology that they’ve set up–only Rumple’s touched more of the characters’ lives over a longer period. I think they really need to play with that a bit more or at least clear it up.

ParticipantFuture plotlines:
I want to see Rumple search for a way become worthy of Belle’s love and for them to eventually reconcile, though I want to see it done right and on screen.
I want to see Rumple, Belle, Henry, Emma, and heck, throw in Hook and Regina for make-weight, go to the netherworld to battle Death (or Hades or whichever fits best into the mythology they’re building) to bring Neal home.
I want to see Henry & Belle bond over books and for Belle to join Operation Mongoose as The Most Obvious Agent EVER that they so far don’t seem to be including.
I want Henry to learn how to use his abilities with the Heart of the Truest believer for good in Storybrooke. Something that’s not magic…but it IS a superpower. It would be so awesome if HE were the key to everyone’s happy ending.

ParticipantI don’t believe she DESERVES it. Many characters who spent their lives trying their hardest to be good and help others have suffered awful fates, quite a few of them at her hands. While her mother and Rumple both abused and manipulated her for their own purposes, she herself actively made choices to become the Evil Queen and she fully lived up to the title, however much she is trying to escape the E word now. While the things she’s suffered make her descent into evil relatable and understandable, they do not excuse it. (Same goes for other characters we aren’t talking about right now.)
She is not owed a happy ending, and if this weren’t a fantasy, her getting it would strike all of us as horribly unfair. However, I still hope she gets one, and that by the time she does, she has fully demonstrated remorse for her past evils and worked hard to be redeemed and forgiven by those she’s hurt (which is basically everybody, remember). Still, I want her to have a happy ending because I want to believe that even the worst of us can become the heroes we want to be.

ParticipantWell, I read on Slate that someone did track down the original and it’s blue/black…
I consistently see blue and gold though. (Nice rumbelle colors, ne?) Apparently that’s what Adam sees, too.
