Okay, for the first time in a LONG time I’m bouncing excited about a non-Belle centric.
This looks amazing.
As for her saying she didn’t mean it, well…she wouldn’t have killed Cora if part of her didn’t want it. The spell makes you see the worst in yourself as well as everyone else, right? So…that dark part of her was happy Cora was gone. That doesn’t mean that Normal Snow didn’t feel remorse. We know she did.

Yeah, I would work for Rumple. It’s risky, since if he decides you’ve betrayed him, you’re lucky to get out alive, but…he pays well.
If Rumple weren’t available, Hook. Smee and his other crewmates seem loyal enough to him, which suggests that as a captain he’s not such a sucky guy to work for. And, honestly, of the villains we’ve seen for multiple episodes, he’s among the least evil (he’s successfully killed a tiny fraction of Regina’s victims, for example. Doesn’t mean he hasn’t tried).

I think the biggest plot hole this season is that they haven’t yet shown us what DQ has over Rumple. He already had the box when he realized she was up to stuff, so it wasn’t that. She didn’t have anything to blackmail him with until he started making deals with her. He had ribbons that he knew she’d be willing to trade for…and that’s ALL we’ve seen. It even looks like he has no clue what she has worth offering back (though the knowledge she gives him IS desirable for him).
Why she wasn’t a snail the instant Belle started crying after the mirror is a mystery that I hope they explain. (A snail in a hat, no less.)
As for how he plans to deal with Henry & Belle, I’m suspecting that he intends to take their memories. Which would be an interesting twist when combined with the scene they cut (they really, really shouldn’t have cut the Henry scene if that’s where they’re going). I think he believes with the hat, he’ll have enough power to use his magic anywhere.
We did see that the Dragon had magic abilities even in the LWM, and I’m almost expecting that we’ll see DQ using magic outside of Storybrooke in the coming episode. Also, lights flickered when Henry was born–either Henry, Emma, or both affected that without knowing, in a way that appears to represent magic gone a little haywire. He was born in Phoenix.
So…it may be that with enough or the right kind of powers, magic can be used in the Land Without. In S1, we saw limited magic (mostly connected to magic objects) in use even in Storybrooke. So some magic can survive even without external magic being present.

And, PoM: He knew exactly where they stood–he was watching Belle work. They didn’t start before Belle realized that Anna’s hair or necklace could save the town because they didn’t know what to do. (The fairies are apparently not so clever.)
When he took Belle, their only hope was that Elsa found Anna. He had no reason to believe that Elsa would.

Oh yes, there is a big difference between the two characters. But Rumple’s decision to save his family and run is having the same effect on the town as Elsa’s decision to save her family instead of the town, and she knew it when she tricked Emma. It was a very selfish decision for Elsa to make, even if we, as viewers, realize that if she hadn’t made that choice Anna and Kristoff would be dead.
(And meanwhile, the consequences if Rumple had just put DQ in the hat a couple episodes ago? …I think until they explain why Rumple’s treating DQ with kid gloves in the present timeline, when he already has the hat and showed he was perfectly willing to screw her over by taking Emma from her, his actions just aren’t going to make sense as a whole. Aside from the fact that we have to connect the dots ourselves to come up with his motives for betraying Belle, and have to look at either past seasons or cut scenes to see any goodness in the man, we’re stuck with an inexplicable deference for DQ that only makes sense if she has something else he wants or is somehow more powerful than he is. Maybe after she gets the ribbons working, she is, but…he totally could have stopped her plans for 7 episodes and didn’t, even as he figured out what they were, she attacked his wife, and her plans threatened his own.)
