ParticipantI laid out my NYC theory but with Snow there…maybe the memory curse is no more?

ParticipantLong before Emma crashed back into Neal, Snowing were always borrowing magical cups of sugar from Rumple. Rumbelle doesn’t need separation arcs, they’ve got Snowing!
I agree with Jo that action was required and I liked that we saw Rumple really sort of understood where Neal came from, because it is where he is with Pan too. So while RC is good at that sad face, ultimately, Rumple ultimately realizes better than anyone what it is that Neal is going through when it comes to him.
I just hope they have conversations about this, and not sweep it to “offscreen”. Use the drama!

ParticipantIt makes far too much sense I think so it will probably be a flash sideways with Hook in his pirate gear lol

ParticipantOk revising the “Neal gets caught by cops speculation” a bit here:
One: Neal leaves SB to go get his stuff from his apartment in NY to move to SB permanently.
Two: He calls in a panic from police station, his one call as he is being arrested for Tamara’s murder. (Technically she’s only been gone 5 days probably not long enough to be presumed dead but she could have been missing many more years while working for Home Office). He also could be actively framed, or it could be the police checking all the leads sort of thing (where he’s just being questioned rather than arrested).
Three: Emma gets the call and when she does, she’s talking to Hook and he offers the JR to get her there fast. Gold and Belle come along.
Four: Belle can come along because she has been dosed with Blue Fairy Potion of Plot Convenience so no memory loss, and Gold has his scarf. Belle also wanted to see the world.
That explains why these 4 do outdoor scenes in NY (Neal already “incarcerated”). Gold and Belle try to work the system to get Neal out “pseudo-legally” go go Rumple lawyer, and meanwhile Emma decides to investigate herself, put her bailbonds tricks to work so she and Hook go to Tamara’s apartment. There they find some magical stuff that she’d confiscated /stolen and they’re trying to figure out what it is.

ParticipantA flash sideways is very lost! I guess they could do anything, but if flash sideways wouldn’t Hook be in real clothes not pirate costume?
I feel we have a lot of unexplained things to learn about Neal, and Tamara and the whole operation Pan had set up as the Home Office that’s probably a headless network of anti-magic types now. I think it would make a good comparison story as well to learn the real story of how Emma herself ended up in jail that night in Portland, as there were some ambiguities in it and Adam has tweeted one set of things as to what happened, but other fans insist another way of looking at what was shown. So they know that’s out there to address, and had tweeted not shown yet.
So a present day story of Neal getting arrested might parallel with the same people setting him up for Tamara’s murder as the ones who called the cops on Emma, and more information on what Neal knew/didn’t know back then.

ParticipantI think Pan sent Hook to meet Milah.
I do think there is a connection between the Dark One curse and Pan and the SB curse too.

ParticipantYes Rg on that spoiler remember people would think Emma is marrying Hook if she is wearing white in a scene with him, think someone thought she was meeting a justice of the peace to elope with hook lol (You’ do that at City Hall anyway, not the police station)….

ParticipantI think that fits so well Heather! I think what resonates to me in this story is that it is about two people accepting and understanding each other’s flaws but also bringing out the best.It could be written in CS too, but not without addressing Hook’s past behavior, or continuing to hold him in high regard because he exceeds the low standards of behavior expected of a a pirate, rather than the high standards for a true man of honor, not one with a convenient code that shifts to justify what he wants to do at the time.
Slurpeez108 wrote: I think that Regina ought to have a heart-to-heart with Emma about realizing what a good man she has in Neal because it’s so incredibly rare to get a second chance at love.
That would be *lovely* If not in the first 11, then maybe the second half. Going back to 306, EQ Regina tells Ariel that there are no second chances but clearly this whole season is about them. I think Regina is going to realize in the back half that she is getting a second chance and maybe she’ll talk to Emma about it. Don’t deny your feelings for Neal just because you have anger over the past. Regina understands that; if she let go of the past, she’d float away and have nothing to ground her but it also means she had to take a chance on her happiness. In a lot of ways, Emma’s anger and fear over Neal are keeping her from floating away like Regina. If she can learn more about Neal and his past and their past, she might come to realize that she wants a second chance with Neal.
Oh I would love that too.
I was thinking if they did reveal Neal as a destined magical TL for Emma, then I would want Neal to step back and say to Emma it does not mean he owns her heart still. I see why people feel Emma should be free of fate/control her destiny but as we discussed, PP like Rumple may have taken advantage of their love but he could not force it. Emma needs to accept it and be shown having this realization in a way that does not look like people “pushing her” to Neal but rather reducing her fears that keep her from understanding her own heart. It is such a subtle but important difference but I think a lot of people get put off by the idea that Neal was somehow forced on Emma by Rumple/Henry/Snow, especially those who believe with full conviction that she longs for Hook. First they need to show us she does not long for Hook, and Emma might have the opposite reaction were Regina to advise her to seek out Neal specifically.
Nice song choice Heather.

ParticipantI don’t know about that Hocus Pocus movie, but trios are a significant trope. We mentioned before the fates as 3 spinners, as it is the old Greek myth. Moirae . Now I wonder if Bae’s friend Morraine was not BF herself? Read on in there they talk about people dying in battle remaining as shadows in the underworld. I know someone RG? talked about the Odyssey in relation to Rumple’s story.
Disney owns a few properties that reference these archetypes at least indirectly. “The Moon Spinners” though its an offhand thing there, and the reference is only explained in the novel but it is to the greek myth itself. Disney did a very awful rendition live action version with Haley Mills in that 70’s era. The novel though is by Mary Stewart (who wrote that Merlin trilogy I suggested on another thread The Crystal Caves). Could tie back into Ruby of they ever get her on, both with Wizard that made her cloak, child of the moon, I don’t know. Just coincidence though.
Disney also had the rights to The Black Cauldron which was based on The chronicles of Prydain, a classic novel by Lloyd Alexander, itself a bit of a remix of welsh myths but includes in The foundling, most notably three spinsters who who take in a small boy .
There is also a norse incarnation, the norns. This version brings in a magic tree, Ygrdissil.
There is also that fairytale The Three Spinners someone brought up that sounds very like The Rumplestilskin origin fairy tale too.
Something is for sure going on with them!
