ParticipantSo is the boxing of Rumple his undoing?

Participant” I’m sorry but I laughed out loud when Emma ran into the protection spell wall, flipped upside down, landed on the ground with a thud and Neal says “Are you okay?” like she just took a small stumble.
I guess the flip itself was kind of funny. Now if he had said “You’ve fallen, and you can’t get up?” like those infomercials for the medic alert bracelet, then I’d have laughed.
I didn’t realize “Are you ok” is exclusively reserved as a phrase for small stumbles, but maybe that’s cultural. More interesting though–look at Rumple’s shadow, well hello there, shadow that’s supposed to be cut off!
(I came across that GIF and had to share that shadow thing, because I remember how obsessively we looked for people’s shadows back in the “who is pan, killipan, nealfirepan, felixpan ” days…..we needn’t have bothered, they aren’t that meticulous.

ParticipantDid you notice they are flowers that harvest starlight? Rheul Ghrom was Blue Star right? Someone had a theory that fairies were stars, just interesting connection.

ParticipantI had to bump this up, now we know where PP fits….Rumple’s dad!

ParticipantI don’t know if the writers are saving it, or its just more “who cares, audience already knows” stuff or cut for time. Either way, while I did love the Rumple/pan stuff, I felt like maybe they could have skipped the exposition somewhere to get in a line from Wendy about how Bae gave up everything for them. I also would have liked a line from Regina to Neal about how she’s glad for Henry’s sake he isn’t dead after all, or SOMETHING. It would have shown growth for her, really that she stopped thinking of everyone else as competition. Incidentally, the name #FireThieves won for twitter, not my favorite but hey, at least it is a “hot” name anyway you slice it. (Something stolen is hot property right?). I guess I’ll warm up to it. I’m curious about Rumple’s mother, and why those spinsters took him in, and why they’d give him the bean. I’m wondering if his mother was a fairy, and they are too–the 3 fairies from the Sleeping Beauty Tale, were Blue, Green and Red (Nova was Pink though, but she was in training). Tink ‘s age is a problem as the actress said 100 years but she might have just not have meant it accurately, just “older than she looks”. What if the missing Red one was grandma so our “fairies fell in love and it is BAD idea ” theory is still true?I might tease that out on the general thread on the Spinsters too. I mention it here though, because it’s just one more thing about Neal too, as well as Rumple, potentially if they have fairy magic inherently in them (despite what Rumple said). Of course I still liked TinkerMomma with Belle…so not sure I want some fairy-relations there!

ParticipantI thought they were totally shady, and might be Blue and another fairy (maybe TB but not if only 100 years old)–maybe the fairies are the fates?
It was odd they just gave away a valuable bean and how did Rumple get back? There is more story here, perhaps to be picked up with the wraith.
EDIT TO ADD:
I’m wondering if maybe the Spinsters were Rumple’s aunts, and if they are fairies, if that means his mother was one too, perhaps she died in childbirth. We’ve had a theory forever that Pan fell in love with a fairy and that’s why Blue was anti-love for fairies. What if it wasn’t BLUE’s romance, but her friend and fellow fairy, Red? If this ties into the SLeeping Beauty story, which we might see more of in the back half of the season, it could make a lot of sense.
What if there are 3 main fairies, Blue, Green and Red, who double as the “fates” of FTL. One falls in love with Malcom, and has Rumple and dies, or becomes evil creating the first Dark One . This is the reason Blue says love for fairies is bad, and sets up her connection with Malcom/PP. The other Green has something happen to her (perhaps in the Sleeping Beauty part 1 story, Aurora’s mother or with Aurora). Blue tries to train replacement fairies with Nova (Pink) and Tink (lighter leaf green) but Tink doesn’t quite have what it takes, and Nova struggles too.
I don’t know if it quite works…its a bit crazy, but then, I tossed out Pan as de-aged father over the summer (though not to Rumple, was thinking Hook’s dad) so sometimes crazy is exactly where they go.

ParticipantAw, you’re right Heather! That was a sweet moment, and I’m not sure if it is sad or not that Neal didn’t realize that his grandad trapped his dad moments before! If anyone has a messed up life, it is poor Neal. Emma’s grandma gave her life so Emma could be born, meanwhile, Neal’s grandpa tried to steal his son’s life!
I also noticed that Henry had to take out his own heart, that Pan had to CONVINCE him to do it. Now, it was a neat dodge on the whole “heart can’t be taken ” question of true love, and his heart had a golden glow to it. I figured they’d side step it. They don’t want to reveal anything about Emma’s romantic true love yet, so they didn’t shoot down SF (but am sure people will claim otherwise). In my mind, the reason Pan, who as we saw is corrupt with no limits more or less, would have ripped out Henry’s heart himself if he could have done, so I think he could not. Henry had to give it, and whether Emma’s heart could not be ripped by Cora b/c Emma was sacrificing herself (the stepping in front of intended target) or innate because of TL, we don’t actually know. So I don’t even know if true that TL= no hearts taken, but even if so, this situation seemed different as Henry’s heart was not taken, it was given.
Phee: I loved that moment when he got her back too, and how he believes in her, and knows how tough she is, but was still concerned.

ParticipantLikes:
Neal standing up to Rumple about a price to cure David and Neal says no, do it because it is the right thing to do. I also liked how he did come to trust Rumple.
Neal and Wendy reunion, though short it was sweet. I also liked that Rumple saw through the lie she was telling, and oddly, how Regina talked about Belle. It sounded like she was admiring Belle.
Rumple’s backstory with his father, the little actor pulled it off.
The ultra creepy confrontation with Pan and Rumple, and another not so little young actor, Robbie Kay man, he’s awesome. To think we ever doubted how someone could hold up against RC but he had all the weight he needed, and the scene worked for me.
Dislikes:
Yet again, all the history amongst main characters swept under a rug, so not too pleased but it makes sense as they were finally moving action forward. I am a bit bemused that Papa Pan became true, though I may have been off on the identity of his kid (and who knows, maybe he fathered 2 other boys before Rumple!) I might have to bump up my joke thread about where Pan is on the family tree! No joke now!
Audio mumbling–I had trouble hearing Rumple Father and the Shadow and I guess I’ll just see again at some point.
There was a huge leap between Rumple being dragged by the shadow and showing back up at the Spinsters. I didn’t quite get that, and obviously there’s more backstory on how they just happened to have such a valuable bean, and would give it to this boy dropped off at their house. If there isn’t, then the writing is just getting super sloppy. I hope it isn’t a future “pothole” to be hidden under that very large rug that is covering a lot of plot oddities now. Also, how did Rumple get back?
The “magic moving moment” with Emma and Regina seemed anticlimactic and silly. I don’t know aren’t you going to have shadows from the torches? I know, silly drawing a line at the magic coconut, ship in a portal made by a bean and everything else, but I wish it had been something else. Maybe some kind of spell to make them glow so they magically emitted no shadows would have been better I don’t know.

ParticipantIt was definitely not romance heavy but Neal was shown in a very good light all the same. I loved that moment when Neal is like no deals, you will help because it is the right thing to do. Go go Hero Neal. Hook’s brief scene just set up that Emma thinks of Hook as a source of information, that he told her about his brother, and the poison. Up until now she had to rely on his knowledge, but his knowledge is perhaps not so broad or deep as he implied. Yet no hint that as yet she understands the twisty connections between him and Neal, or the Darlings and Neal, but most of all Pan.

ParticipantCurious. 100 years? I guess fairies do not age but I would have thought less than that, apparent age (25ish) + 10 years + 28 curse years. I was on board the Tink as new girl in NL after Baeand Hook though, which leads to her helping one of them escape or both or something. I expect timeline wrinkles now.
