My question about this is what portal opens up to FTL? The well? The beans are confusing because they take you to both places and it was never really clear how Cora and Hook got to SB with a bean but no compass.
The compass was needed with the portal made from leftover wardrobe ashes. You don’t need a compass when you use a fully functioning bean portal.
But then how did the bean know where to take Cora and Hook? We’ve seen it take people to SB and to NL. We assume it took Bae to NL as well because he was suddenly an orphan, but then how did Hook use it to get to NL? See my confusion?
This does seem like a plot hole! Maybe that’s the magic of the bean, as Phee suggested, that the bean knows, but the enchanted wood portal didn’t “know” where to take you unless directed.

We should start getting sneak peeks on Wednesday. I have a theory based on the promo pictures for Lacey about where Hook will pop upI think he will make a surprise appearance at Henry's birthday celebration and that's why everyone's freaked.
I should be ashamed of myself for it, but I’ve been laughing at the thought of how Hook would wrap a birthday presentwith that hook! 😆
Don’t be, that’s not half so silly as the idea I had about how he’d “pop up” again in the story I imaginged Hook surprised them by using wonderland mushrooms to shrink and hid in the cake or the pirate ship in the shop, then popped out of it (and grew to normal size of course) I know it would never happen but the idea of it cracked me up anyway.

Yes, but Pinnochio knew Bae’s name, which is more than the rest of the FTL people would have known. So what I was wondering was whether he knew more than just a name and that Neal came from FTL, or did he have more context and background? If Pino had the context, then he wouldn’t have said “crossfire” would he? So then, it seems likely that whoever told Pino about Neal only told him the name and that Neal was from FTL. Why hold the rest back? Who was this mysterious source of information? As others have theorized, it could have been Jefferson who had knowledge but was trapped in his house. Then we start to wonder how August could have ever found out about him.
About that. My pet theory is that August’s source of information is himself. I believe he met Baelfire as a young puppet boy in Neverland.
How, you might ask? I think we’ll eventually find out that Peter Pan, be him Bae or his own character (the latter my personal preference), will fulfill the role of Pinocchio’s friend Lampwick, with Neverland being his Pleasure Island and Hook the Coachman. Both Lampwick and the Coachman will never be featured in the show the way they were portrayed in Disney’s Pinocchio – Lampwick smoking cigars, drinking beer and being a vandal altogether, the Coachman having serious devil undertones -, so Peter and Hook fit well as lighter versions of those characters. This explains rather well why the showrunners are holding back how August knew Neal was Bae – the explanation requires the introduction of Peter Pan, a character they’ll only show in season 3.
Interesting, but then you have August remembering from when he was 7 what Bae was like at 14, yet Bae is unable to recognize August at the same time. That’s not impossible, but a bit of a stretch. I suppose August would have changed more (there’s almost a pun there…). Anyway, I think both child actors do a good job, so wouldn’t mind seeing them again if it did play out that way.

August: There’s a curse… And it needs to be broken. Emma, is the key. I was tasked with keeping her on track and you, my friend, just got caught in the crossfire. Now, I’m going to tell you a story. And, at the end of it, you’re going to have to make a decision. Will you do the right thing, or not? So… Are you ready?
It’s kind of unclear from that whether August knew the whole story about Neal. Why say Neal was caught in the crossfire, if Neal was the reason for the curse to be enacted in the first place?
I think it’s a simple case of only Rumple and the audience knowing the true story behind the curse. For everyone else, Regina created it and used it to damned their world; in that sense, Neal/Bae was indeed caught in the crossfire, for he would have nothing to do with it. We, of course, know otherwise. 🙂

ParticipantMore importantly, he reminded himself, if the beans were ready, they could all go home. He grabbed a few off the ground and dashed off.
Henry frowned, “Where’s he going? Maybe we took that joke too far.”
“Only a tiny bit,” Pinnochio piped up.
“I didn’t bite anything ….” Anton said. He was laughing so hard tears fell from his eyes. “Have you seen the version your world tells of giants and our beanstalk? Talk about a bite…”

ParticipantI picked up the novelization of it at a used book store. At least it’s better than the ONCE novelizations excerpt, but it is still not beautifully crafted prose or anything. It has a few pictures of the 10kingdom characters. It’s part of my “get through hiatus” kit though.

ParticipantI’m wondering, since we know Regina is taken and experimented upon, what would happen if Emma & co think SHE is dead? Would they hold a funeral for her? Henry loves her, and despite all the evil things Regina has done, my sense is that Charmings & Co would be sad if she died. Maybe not as sad as Emma looks, but that could be reflected sadness from Henry? Especially if Emma feels guilt that she is Sheriff and she has failed to catch the threat she noticed that killed Pinocchio v. 1.
Slurpeez, that is a very interesting theory, that fits with how Regina and Rumpel operate with each other.

ParticipantThey don’t kill all the cute guys. Perhaps it depends on your definition of attractive, but they still have Jefferson, Rumpel, Charming, Thomas, Whale as alive and well at this point in the story. I think Hook is quite safe really. If he managed to avoid being killed by the Queen of Hearts “off with his head” herself, Cora, I think he’ll be able to handle little ol’ Taser Tapping Tamara. Plus as RumpelsGirl said, there’s lots of interview clues that the showrunners want to use Hook in a romantic story arc.
As for Rumpel and Belle: a long time ago there was an interview where I think Emilie said maybe the beast would rub off on Belle…..this may be what she meant. I agree with Keb, he may find it tempting to take her as she is, but I hope he wil fight to get back the real Belle.

And now I’m really confused about this scene. It’s night time when she pushed Cora through the mirror and then the next FTL scene is day and Regina is leaving because “that was always the plan” she tells Rumple. If she had just married the King and then pushed Cora through the mirror it wouldn’t make any sense for her to wait until morning given that Leopold would want to consummate the marriage BUT if she was about to marry the king and pushed Cora through the mirror before the wedding, it still wouldn’t make any sense because she was always planning on leaving once Cora was gone so why stay and marry the king.
The line “the kingdom will be yours” does seem to indicate that the marriage hadn’t happened yet except when you take it in conjunction with the preceding line “the king is not a strong man” which I think we are supposed to. Cora is telling Regina that because the king is not strong therefore Regina will be the true ruler of the land. I don’t know if it has anything to do with a time reference. But why on earth would Regina have stayed and married the King if Cora is gone and her plan was to leave.
So either there is a flaw in the writing or we’re missing something.
I thought of it as she is trying on the dress the night before the wedding. She finds out about the book of magic the day before the wedding (Henry Sr. says that in conversation with her when he talks about the book). That is what causes Rumpel to appear with the looking glass. I think it is later that night that she talks to Cora and pushes Cora in.
So it is the next morning before the wedding is supposed to take place that she is running away only to encounter Rumpel. She now has a taste for power and magic, so although we do not see the scene, I think Rumpel manipulates Regina into returning and marrying the King. He wanted her to be miserable after all, so she would cast the curse. Perhaps he implied she would need the authority of the Queen to be able to have the freedom to study with him or something like that.“If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is, because everything would be what it isn't. And contrary wise, what is, it wouldn't be. And what it wouldn't be, it would.
