This one little clip made me tear up and I can’t even hear the whole conversation. This episode is going to have so many feels…
But I’m coming up with a more complex theory on what The Curse personalities were. They weren’t completely opposite–I think it enhanced the weaknesses of each character rather than changing them completely. After all, what’s Belle do in FTL after Rumple kicks her out? She goes and hangs out at the local tavern, drinking and reading (and giving Dreamy advice). Mary Margaret didn’t stop being a caring, friendly person–she just stopped fighting and standing up for herself and always doing the right thing. Archie let Regina make him do things he thought were wrong, going against his conscious–but that’s exactly what his parents once did to him, and exactly why he became a Cricket in FTL.
So I think it’s more complicated and deeper than just a whole different life–I think it does draw out the character’s flaws and makes them act on those flaws instead of in the ways that they overcame those flaws (Belle post-Mulan adventure is much more determined and strong (not that it does her a whole lot of good), Snow finds a way to fight back instead of being sacrificial, Jiminy finds a way to do what’s right…etc.) I’m really interested to see Lacey because I want to see how well this theory holds up.
I like this theory.

Yes, I agree with this thought. I think Tamara was already intent of discovering magic, and when she heard Greg’s tale of woe from childhood, she played off of his search to get what she wanted. Tamara might just be playing Owen, whereas I think Owen really fell for Tamara since she’s probably the only one who believes his story about a vanishing town.
It is like an odd parallel to Corumple. She wants power, & he wants to find his dad.

But that argument would only apply if Henry is Peter Pan (present tense.) The assumption is that he is not yet Peter Pan but he might become Peter Pan in the future. It would be as big a surprise to him as to us, since none of the characters (except possibly Rumple) seem to know exactly how time works between the worlds.
The only problem I have there is the circularity thing, that Henry already knows who Peter Pan is as a classic tale. At least, I presume he does, since they must have talked about Hook, and where the pirate ship came from. I guess I’ve handled circular time before in Sci-Fi stories but it does always make me a little 😕 .

So much for killing the mute maid,
Speaking of the mute maid, I had something randomly pop into my head the other day. I wonder if she could have been foreshadowing of Bae having experience communicating with someone who couldn’t speak, an experience we’ll see him draw on when he runs into Ariel in NL.
Anything that makes it more likely that Ariel comes into the mix is a good theory to me 🙂

At the end of the day, Charming or Snow aren’t going to choose who Emma should be with. The choice will come from her.
I agree with that. Just because Emma is their little girl doesn’t mean she IS a little girl. She is going to make up her own mind. Plus, I think if they see she is in love, they will (eventually) trust her judgement. We do have to have a few “Papa Charming” glares of course!
And oddly enough, I see Charming warming up to Hook first. I don’t think Snow holds grudges per se, but she can be a bit idealistic about how people should be. I get the vibe that Charming would get a bromance going with Hook soon as they bonded over something they had in common, like swords.

Just remembered the curse/spell from S1 that Rumple but on Regina, preventing her hurting or killing Snow & Charming “while in FTL“…. the whole reason Rumple was able to get Regina to cast ‘The Curse’ to bring them to our world… If this magic is still in effect there, then it’s possible that protection applies to the whole Snowing family (cant see them allowing Regina to go free, unless Snowing knew their future daughter & grandchildren were also safe from harm).
So they would all be allot safer from Regina there than here, if that’s the case… I’m not sure if Emma knows about this or not yet, but that could play a role for things as they stand. That’s a really good point; Snow White would certainly be safest in the EF since Regina has it out for her. Would the protection spell work on Snow’s and Charming’s descendants though? I have my doubts, but I’d like to see that come into play.
I agree, it is a good point, and could be significant. The writers could plausibly write the protection either way. Since they have portrayed Rumpel as a stingy son of a gun, not the type to throw in extras for free, my guess is the curse would be limited to just Snow and Charming. We don’t really know that for sure though, but I think it is the more likely direction given what Snow said to Regina in the Cricket game.
Here is a quote from the transcripts.Evil Queen: That’s impossible.
Snow White: No, that’s magic.
(Prince Charming and several guards enter.)
Prince Charming: And this time, it wasn’t thanks to fairies.
(He holds up the blindfold used during the Evil Queen’s execution.)
Prince Charming: Rumpelstiltskin. He took one of your hairs from this, and used it to fashion a protection spell.
Evil Queen: No…
Prince Charming: Now there’s nothing you can do in this land to hurt Snow or me. You’re powerless against us.
Evil Queen: You tricked me.
Snow White: It wasn’t a trick. It was a test – one that I had truly hoped you’d pass.
Prince Charming: We wanted to give you a chance to change, Regina.
Snow White: Regina, you are banished. Banished to live alone with your misery.
Prince Charming: As long as you’re alive in this world, you can’t hurt us.
Snow White: You saved my life once, and now I’ve saved yours. So we’re even. And if you ever try to hurt anyone in my kingdom again, I will kill you.
So Snow’s threat implies that Snow at least thinks Regina could try to hurt someone else in the Kingdom besides herself or Charming (since he says “you can’t hurt us”), rather than thinking Regina would be powerless to attack anyone else.

ParticipantLol at the haircut….
You know, I’m thinking of the other one posted with Hook staring at Regina and the caption about her hair.
Maybe the REAL reason she cast the curse is she finally wanted a good hair day. 😛 Talk about a happy ending.

ParticipantI wondered that too. It is definitely possible.
It is even harder to tell since they didn’t use a different actress for the flashback for either Snow or Regina at the times of their wedding, other than Bailee for Snow’s character as a “young girl” during Regina’s wedding.
Regina talked to Mal in season 1:
From the transcript:Maleficent: Are you? If it were me, I’d be simply tortured watching that flake of Snow so happy. Weren’t you about the same age when you were to be married? Before she ruined it all. Yes, you were.
Evil Queen: Yes, it was about the same age you were when that Sleeping Beauty got the best of you, my dear Maleficent.
A 7 years difference is more significant at younger years. 14 and 7 is a huge difference, but as you get into 20’s and 30’s, the changes in maturity level off, so even if Emma is a few years older it’s not really altering the dynamic between them.
