ParticipantMeanwhile, over at Granny’s, a frenzy had formed over the free toast.
“This mob is almost as bad as when I was framed for murder,” Ruby growled. “Don’t make me change into a wolf!”[adrotate group="5"]“If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. ParticipantMeanwhile, back in the loft, Henry looked at the Pop Tart Box. “Oh wait…you don’t have any hands.”
“I was speaking figuratively.” The box rolled its eyes, then it whistled. “Remy, can you whip up some crepes for this boy?”
A rat with a chef’s hat crawled out of the trash bin. “Oui.” The Rat said, at least, that’s the only word Henry understood, because he didn’t speak french.“If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. Belle is very good at seeing the good in people. If she says it’s there, it’s there. And we saw him as a good man once in his pre-dark one days. He has it in him.
Slightly off topic, but is Belle really THAT perceptive about goodness? There is a saying that love is blind. She described Hook as “rotten to the core.” I, like many others, have a different view given the scenes showing him doing things like saving Aurora’s heart from falling into the portal, or nudging transformed fish guy into the water. I think if we were meant to think Hook were truly rotten, the show would not include those scenes. So if Hook also has the capacity to be reformed, why did Belle not see that ? Granted, a guy threatening to kill your boyfriend might make it hard to see that guy’s redeeming qualities, but a lot of people think she is somehow the ultimate in seeing good underneath darkness. Maybe she is just naive!
I want to trust her judgement of Rumpel because I want Rumpel to ultimately make the right choices, but I have to admit, she (and all of us fans in the audience) may be overestimating his degree of reformation at this early point in the story. We may be in for some tricky reversals that might have us shouting at the screen. Before Manhattan, many people thought Rumpel would take on the role of kindly grandpa to Henry, but what we saw was much more complicated. There is still a lot of fear and anger in Rumpel.
I think there is more to come for Belle to truly accept even the darkest parts of his heart, and change them. I think her judgement will become less naive, especially after she integrates the Lacey persona. I think that is part of her journey, why the writers chose to unfold her tale that way, rather than choosing some other obstacle for Rumbelle.
So far as the spoilers go, I think it is entirely possible that Rumpel might have some kind of plan to “neutralize” the threat of Henry, similar to his idea of how to handle getting revenge on Regina at the start of the season. I don’t think he is in as dark of a place as at the start of the season, for he has learned some things, but I do think he has not learned enough to be a hero yet.

Participant“I am sure this is just a misunderstanding.” Snow said in a gentle voice as she knelt down next to the bed. She shot Gold a look. “We don’t need to do anything drastic here. Come on out little fellow.” she whispered.

Participant“Do you now?” Gold said. “I always found a fire and a pan worked for toast, if your appliances won’t behave.”
“So you won’t help?” Henry replied.
“I didn’t say that.” Gold smiled. “There is of course, the small matter of my fee.”

ParticipantDavid and Gold walked out to the side yard behind the shop. There was a bit of space there, to throw the spikey black ball thing. David wound up his arm, and let it go. It hurled across the grass and landed on the ground.
“That was an excellent demonstration of gravity. ” Gold said after a moment.
David frowned. “I thought it would do something.”
Gold sighed. “Did you expect it to return to your hand like Thor‘s hammer?”
“Probably for the best it didn’t. I’m not sure I want to catch something shaped like a porcupine.” David walked over and picked up the ball again. “Maybe I did not throw it hard enough.” He took a few steps back, then tried again. The black pointy star rose into the sky and disappeared.
“It’s gone. You lost my star! You threw it over the gate and it is lost in the universe!” Gold’s voice rose. “What you have done cannot be undone!”
David shook his head. “No. It won’t end this way.” He looked up in the sky. “Black pointy star, I will find you. I will always find you!”
Gold sighed. “I’m going to go make another bowl of soup while I wait.”
