Good episode with some great callbacks!
Liked:
The Apprentice acknowledging the wonky timeline. Thank you writers for calling out your own bull.
And thank you writers for finally acknowledging that Regina killed Wish Realm Snow and Charming. She may not have realized it at the time, but it was murder.
I knew that was Wish Realm Henry at the beginning. I know they were trying to make us think it was Henry when he first got to EF 2.0, but I wasn’t fooled.
Just love seeing evil Rumple. Robert Carlyle is just so good at it. He and Gold don’t even seem like the same person.
Hook and Alice’s phone conversation. Can someone please break their curse?
It all started with a cupcake and a wish.
Mixed:
I wish they’d done more with the Wish Realm versions of Peter Pan and Ariel. Robbie Kaye has changed so much I had to look him up to see that it was indeed the same actor. I would’ve liked the story of how Rumple captured him. And was anyone else getting a vibe between Ariel and Hook? I could actually get behind them together in their realm.
How can Wish Realm Henry yield the power of the author pen? Different paths mean he shouldn’t have the same powers.
I like that they brought back the prophecy about the boy being his undoing, but I’ve always gone on the assumption that Henry lead him to Pan and his undoing was when he killed Pan and himself. So now they’ve completely changed canon.
Disliked:
Portals can now take you across the country?
Is anyone going to let Zelena know that he curse is broken? And does she know that they traveled back in time? That would be an awkward conversation with her fiancé.
I totally forgot Wish Realm Henry’s father is still Baelfire. Does Rumplestiltskin know that?
Still not clear on how if Gold loses his darkness that Wish Realm Rumple will too. Did he lose it when Emma became the Dark One?
Hook used his fake hand to hold his phone and it tightened around the phone when he was talking to Alice.
The one thing I won’t miss is Dania Ramirez’s acting. She is so bad. How does she keep getting cast?

Favorite/Least Favorite Moments #347248StahlopParticipantThe flashback scenes with Regina just did not work for me. Henry living with Regina is ridiculous. Emma not being mentioned or part of those scenes does not work. Regina giving him her car is ridiculous. They have never passed the place where it is reasonable that Regina be allowed around a child. I know that people like that and they rewrote Regina over the seasons to make her a new character, and i like that character and how she interacts with the world and the adults. That doesn’t change what she has done in the past to Henry and to other children, so pretending that she is a reasonable person to help raise a child is still a no for me. Especially, in light of what this show could have been if they thought about anything and really worked Regina through all that stuff instead of just rewriting her and pretending that stuff didn’t happen.
Rumpel deciding not to kill was good. I liked the idea of the crazy Rumpel. This could give Rumpel a way to talk about all of his mistakes and the evil he did in his attempts to find Bae, but i am not sure that the writers get all that or get what makes sense in this situation. They have made it too much about doing right to get to be with Belle. That is all stupid and repetitive and Rumpel should do the right thing because it is worth doing and not just to get something out of it. It is what it is though and enough of a reason and deus ex machina way to destroy the dark one curse.
Regina and Emma have been sharing custody of Henry since season 4, after Emma decided to stay and Henry got his memories back. He lives with Regina during the whole Dark Swan time as well. Regina has certainly proved herself to be a great mother to Henry over time. And Henry has told her on many occasions that he loves her and appreciates her as his mother. If he hadn’t, he wouldn’t have wanted her to stay with him in the EF 2.0. Also, Emma was mentioned briefly, but I feel like Henry is giving the newlywed couple (even though it’s been a year at this point) some space, and that’s why he’s mainly at Regina’s.
As for Rumple vs Wish Rumple, if the writers play this out right, it could be really good. Here we have a Rumplestiltskin who never got to reunite with Bae or with Belle so he really has nothing but revenge in his heart. He has no one to see the good in him. And a villain with nothing to lose is a very dangerous villain.
StahlopParticipantAt least it’s a character we know and love and not something completely out of left field for the finale.
StahlopParticipantThe only rationalization I can make is that whatever realm Henry went to ages faster than our realm. Say, every 6 months in our realm is a year in the other realm. That could attribute to Henry’s rapid aging and Regina, Emma and Hook looking the same when they visited Henry (say he was 25 in A Pirate’s Life), it would’ve only been 4.5 years in our realm). This could also explain Robin’s age because she could’ve come over at 18 with Zelena, but then be 25 once Regina went to visit them since time moves faster. Alice’s age makes no sense though, because she should technically be the same age as Emma (born right before the curse should’ve been cast) or even older if my faster time in this realm theory holds true. The only explanation I can think for her is that being the daughter of a nymph who doesn’t seem to age plays a part.

Liked:
The curse is broken! Hallelujah! And of course it had to be Henry kissing Regina. It makes perfect sense since it’s always the mother/son bond. This was the only one we hadn’t seen in the combo.
Mystery of where Henry got the bean is solved. Graduation gift from Tiny. I’m assuming this means that the beans are back and that how travel between realms has been so easy.
All the young Henry and Regina scenes were just so spot on! God I’ve missed them together.
I like how Rogers believed without having to be woken up. And loved Weaver calling him Captain. That’s a lot of growth there.
Wish Realm Rumplestiltskin!
Mixed:
Storybrook has a college? Since when? And who would go there besides Storybrook kids?
How did Henry’s belief bottom out so fast after last week? He was all gung-ho about believing Lucy and the curse and made a mystery board, and then it was just gone?
Not only did Margot not find the witch coven weird, she had almost no reaction to the witches turning into trees and being shrunk. I think that would’ve warranted a little bit of a freak out.
Disliked:
I get that Jennifer Morrison wasn’t here for this episode, but did they really expect us to believe that Emma wouldn’t be part of Henry’s decision making process?
So we did the time travel thing? I wonder how this will be reconciled? Can they go back to their own time? This still doesn’t answer why Henry has aged and Regina still looks the same.
As much as I don’t care about them, I would’ve liked to have seen Jacinda and Sabine’s reactions to the curse being broken.
Both Gothel and Facilier are gone? We never got any reason why Facilier wanted the dagger or why Gothel was looking for the Guardian (although I’m assuming Facilier wanted to become the Dark One and Gothel needed some white magic for her spell). So really, what was the point of either of them? And will Regina care that Facilier is dead?
I can’t wait for the final two episodes! If only all of this season had been as good as this episode.
StahlopParticipantIt would certainly make a lot of sense with this season, considering it’s supposed to take place now.
StahlopParticipantI’m hoping for Curious Archer as well, but a family connection seems more logical since it’s what cured the first curse (Emma kissed Henry), the second curse (Regina kissed Henry), and saved Emma (Henry kissed Emma).
ETA: I think it could be Rogers and Tilly. If something happens to Tilly and Roger tells her he loves her and kisses her that could break the curse.
StahlopParticipantSo I actually liked this episode. This rates up as one of the best of the season for me.
Liked:
Henry believes! Loved the interaction between Tilly, Rogers, and him with the fairy tale land board, and that Tilly was totally on board.
Gothel’s backstory was interesting. I really didn’t know what to expect. Having plant based magic, I’m not surprised she’s some sort of wood nymph. It was surprising that she’s from our land originally and not any version of the Enchanted Forest. I am trying to figure out when in time that was though. Did she wipe out humanity and we came back? Was that the implication? Because it looked liked the 1700’s to me with the clothes they were wearing (Restoration to be precise).
Henry is cured and he and Jacinda kissed and it didn’t break the curse. Please let it be Tilly and Margot that break it!
Mixed:
Love Rogers and Tilly’s father/daughter like relationship, but bringing her on a stakeout? Why do they make Rogers so dumb sometimes? But I loved that Tilly had made a little Wonderland scene in the car with the mushrooms.
Also, Rogers seemed to believe a little too easily that he’s Tilly’s father, considering their ages. Or maybe he was just trying to appease Gothel and Tilly.
Lucy and Samdi. I’m perplexed as to why she went to him but at least he got rid of the curse on Henry. Now can he get rid of the poisoned heart curse between Nook and Alice in their world?
Disliked:
No Regina or Rumple this week. WTH!
The girls who were mean to Gothel were such cliche mean girls. I was hoping they were going to be her original coven.
How convenient that Jacinda has a box with the glass slipper in it? Why would Drizella allow that in the original curse? And since when does Granny’s sell t-shirts?
All in all, a good episode for the end of the season. Pieces are finally falling into place and I can’t wait to see how it ends.
StahlopParticipantI completely forgot that Gothel’s storyline hadn’t already been finished. I just don’t care about her at this point at all.
Do you think, at this point, we’ll ever get the backstory of Facilier and Regina?
No. I don’t think there’s time. 720 seems to be a Lucy/Henry episode. I’m not even sure Daniel Francis is in 721/22
Did we ever even get an explanation to how Nook and alice’s curse was broken? I thought it was what was going to make Rumpel full-crocodile in 718, but it wasn’t.
As far as I can remember the curse between Nook and Alice isn’t broken. It just doesn’t work in Hyperion Heights. But they still couldn’t go near each other when the curse was cast.
StahlopParticipantGothel is admitting she’s Tilly/Alice’s Mother! Interesting. Is she trying to gain Tilly’s trust to get the dagger? Is she part of the coven? Lots of questions.
