ParticipantI think the shawl was not only protecting Rumple’s memories, but also his magic. Before he took it off, Emma said she wouldn’t let him forget. I think her magic is what protected his memories while he was not touching the shawl (unconsciously on her part). However, she did not think about protecting his magic (and may not have even if she’d thought about it). That was why he was so surprised when he wasn’t able to use his magic.
Hope I am stating this clearly, my brain’s kind of fuzzy right now (lots going on in RL).[adrotate group="5"]LisaFromOH
ParticipantWelcome, myril! It’s nice to have people on the forums who are knowledgable about the original fairy tales.

ParticipantIn “Heart of Darkness”, Regina’s standard which is carried by her knights consists of a white square on a black background with red flames at the top. There’s no obvious connection since Regina didn’t know about the nightmare before “Child of the Moon”, but it sure reminds me of the depiction of the square room filled with flames in the nightmare.
Very interesting. I wonder if we’ll find out more about Regina’s standard. That does seem like a big coincidence for the symbols to match so closely with the dream. It would be really cool to hear how they came up with the designs for all of the standards/coats of arms, etc.

Maybe if, at some point in the future, a rift develops between Henry and Emma when he learns she lied to him about his father, Ruby and Granny will help both Henry and Emma understand each others feelings and patch up their relationship. I’d like to hear Granny tell more of her story.
I really like this idea. I would be very surprised if Henry’s not at least a little upset when he finds out Emma lied. Red and Granny are the perfect ones to help Henry see that Emma was trying to protect him.

ParticipantWho is Chernobog? Good question about the dagger. Did anyone pick up any clues in Desperate Souls?

ParticipantWe also don’t know how long after the curse was broken that Pinocchio wrote the postcard. I don’t think they’ve shown any birthdays on the show other than Emma’s in the pilot. Of course, the people in the background in New York wearing summer clothes could be actual New Yorkers dressed that way because it was summer when the scene was filmed.
