yeah, I’m convinced Rumple could see events unfold in the future. It’s just too much suspension of disbelief to think otherwise.
[adrotate group="5"]malchoreParticipantJefferson’s existence in Storybrooke is a big problem. Wasn’t he left in Wonderland? So how could the curse reach across a WHOLE SEPARATE REALM and pull just him into Storybrooke? Unless the curse brought everyone from Wonderland to Storybrook. But geez, Storybrooke isn’t that big of a town. And if it dragged everyone from Wonderland did it bring other realms as well?
EDIT: Whoa! I may have to take some of that back! I’m re-watching the episode and Rumple says a line “True love miss swan; The only magic powerful enough to transcend realms and break any curse.” So, maybe, for whatever reason, only Jefferson WAS pulled out of Wonderland.
Okay, so new Theory – Jefferson acquired his Hat from Rumple. That’s how Rumple knew of Jefferson.

Jefferson was not instructed to free Belle, he did it as revenge against Regina for screwing him twice.
He wanted to make sure Rumple knew that Regina held her prisoner all this time. Like the BF said to Regina “you better run and hide.” 😀
How could Jefferson know the “exit” lead down to a secret underground facility? And how could he know the code to open the door? And how could he know to bring Tea filled with something (poison?) that took out the watch nurse? And how could he know which door Belle was in?
incidentally, it was kinda funny to see Sydney Glass locked in one of those rooms.
malchoreParticipantI was disappionted by a few things in the season finale.
First, Emma went from a staunch non-believer to full-blown believer in quite a hurry. I couldn’t suspend my disbelief for that scene. She has held the Story Book before, but the only difference this time seemed to be that she was OPEN to the POSSIBILITY of Henry eating a apple cursed with magic. Apparently that’s all it took for the Story Book to “magicaly?” infuse Emma with knowledge of FTL?
Second, Malaficient the Dragon was a terrible combatant. Both Prince Charm and Emma handled her fairly easily. 🙄 Only Red Dragons can breath fire, but whatever.
Third – Where did Jefferson learn the where-a-bouts of Belle? I presume he must’ve learned all that information from Regina, but it seems odd that she would instruct Jefferson to tell Belle to inform Rumple that Regina had her locked away. I know it’ll have the effect of enraging Mr. Gold, and that’s probably intentional. But it seemed unusually brilliant of Regina. She must’ve known Mr. Gold was up to something that would restore magic to Storybrooke. HOW she knew is beyond me.
I guess what I’m saying is, they burned through a LOT of big major story elements very very fast in only one episode.
malchoreParticipantThe blue fairy realized that Gepetto did not follow her instructions since Mary Margeret (Snow White) was in Storybrooke. He instead sent Pinnochio through the portal, against her wishes.
She must have written the book after Henry showed up in Storybrooke. But that’s too convenient of a coincidence – how could she know he was Emma’s child?
Hmmm.
malchoreParticipantAfter watching “The Return” and “The Stranger”, I’m thinking Mother Superior/Blue Fairy wrote the book.
The theme and message of the book is “Hope.” The blue fairy was desperate when she spoke to Gepetto about Snow’s child being the savior. The Blue Fairy was the only FTL character to have witnessed most of the stories in the book – an important point. She works in the school so she could have easily placed the book. The blue fairy mentioned she “had to make preparations with the other fairies” before the curse reached them in the castle. Could she have created the book from magic?
malchoreParticipantFavorite Moments: That Regina can cook an entire Lasanga in record time. 😀 Seriously, has anyone ever made one from scratch? Those things take at least an hour just in prep time. Then another hour or two for cooking. I also liked that Emma couldn’t see August’s leg turning to wood. All she saw was his flesh leg. That explains (in a bizzarro kind of way) why she could hear&feel Sheriff Grahm’s heart just before he died.
Least Favorite Moments: Gipetto. He was a seriously selfish.

But the way he talked to the person on the phone did NOT sound at ALL the way he has EVER talked to Henry before nor did it sound the way he spoke to Henry AFTER the phone call. He always speaks very cryptically to Henry but you can always tell he is speaking to a child. It sounded as if the person he was speaking to on the phone was an adult who understood his personal reasons for needing to move things along faster; someone who was very familiar with August. And when he spoke to Henry outside of Gold’s pawnshop Henry didn’t understand why they were doing what they were doing which seems inconsistent with the person he had spoken to on the phone. And August acted like he was surprised by Henry’s response – as if they were still getting to know each other because they had only recently met.
Since Jane Espenson wrote this episode, and she tweeted that August called Henry, I’m going to accept that as fact and chalk the whole phone conversation up to bad acting on the part of Eion Bailey (the actor who plays August.) That’s the most reasonable answer I think.
Hey, this is still a TV show, by human actors. Not EVERYTHING has to be perfect and have some hidden clue behind it.

Even though a custody battle has been hinted at since episode 5 when Archie threatened to testify against Regina, I would have hoped that Emma would be smart enough not to reveal that plan to Regina. During the entire murder investigation, she told Mary Margaret that the thing that gave them one up on Regina was that she didn’t know Emma knew. Why on earth would Emma suddenly change her tactic?
Because that investigation is over. No longer a need for that tactic.
And I had the feeling that when Sydney came to Emma to tell his obvious lie to cover for Regina, right then and there is when Emma became angry and lashed out at Regina.

Now that Regina knows exactly what Emma’s intentions are, it is only going to fuel a battle over Henry which could result in Henry getting hurt emotionally or otherwise. Even though Regina loves Henry, she won’t stop at playing dirty to get what she wants. She would destroy Emma even if doing so were to hurt Henry.
On the contrary. Henry would like nothing better than for Emma to take custody of him. And to see Emma fighting Regina for him. Henry believes Regina is the evil queen and also believes Emma is the savior. That fight is what Henry has been trying to instigate all along.
malchoreParticipantIt was mentioned in the initial reaction podcast tonight that the Blue Fairy said words to the effect that “Rumple no longer has a thing he loves most” since Bae was flushed down the portal. (Ha! Flushed.)
So Rumple created the curse and had to manipulate Regina into enacting the curse since Rumple lost the thing he loves most.
