RG, yesterday I had a thought that the “gap” between 315 & 322 – the waiting game, to see how the season ends up – has become less a question of “will Neal return” and more a, “Will RG find hope again?” I cheer every time I see you find a spark of hope, so I hope to see it again soon.

    Ha.

I think we’ll get one more appearance of Neal for 322 for some magical “goodbye” to Henry and then that’s it. I really and truly can’t put any stock in the “he’ll be back” theories. They way they chose to end him, for me, singles that they wanted it done quickly so that he’s forgotten as soon as possible.

to ME it signals that this is not the end of Neal. because it is so badly done I am sure it is only the beginning…. come on give these writers a chance, RG, they’ve been geniuses till now

I used the curse to find you Bae. To tell you I’ve made a mistake, and to make sure you have a chance at happiness. And that happiness IS possible, just not with me… I accept that.

    … I love you Bae…

Those words, said with such raw emotion. I love you Bae. He stood there, totally exposed in front of everyone he’s been hiding from his entire life. Hook, Granny, Snow, Charming, Regina, Emma, people who never heard him admit to any kind of emotion. People with whom he felt safest while looking at though a layered mask… people who never knew his true motivations for anything.

As pan stood laughing at him, he explained it all. His heart was bare, everyone to see it, enemies and friends alike. Yes, THIS is what I’ve been all about. This is why I did everything I did. This is the truth behind this mysterious and intimidating Dark One.

Even Belle didn’t know it until recently, when he finally had the courage to remove his mask, to tell her the truth, tell her what he was all about… he was all about making sure his son didn’t suffer the way he did: loveless, empty, lonely life, with nothing to offer anyone but darkness and isolation. No, his son will know that his father loved him so that he will be able to live a full, happy life, not afraid to love others and be loved by others. Now his son can have a chance at happiness.

    …I love you Bae…

Those words did not need to be said at all. It was so obvious to everyone. No matter how this Baelfire didn’t trust him, no matter how much verbal and emotional abuse was thrown at Rumpelstiltskin in neverland, his response was always, “Fine, I’ll do what you ask… I would give you my dagger if I could… son… have faith in me…” … no one had faith in him, but he didn’t complain, didn’t expect to be treated with any respect, didn’t expect to be forgiven, let alone to be thanked… as long as he could save his boy’s child… as long as his boy will have a chance at happiness. And as he was about to die, about to actively cause his own demise by painfully driving a dagger into his own heart, dulled by first going through his father’s skin and bones, he didn’t have to say those words. He said them anyway…

    …I love you Bae…

after he admitted his motivations behind every interaction he had with Regina, Snow, Charming, Emma… of course He loved Bae.

And Bae finally learned who his father really was. Bae went on to live a full and happy life, open to love, open to the idea that in-love is a safe place to be, knowing that he won’t be betrayed, because his father never betrayed him. He was never afraid to love anymore. His happy smile would light up the world forever, and through him and his happy life, Mr. Gold will never be forgotten.
    The End.
    Sigh.
    I loved that story…

and this is why I officially un-watched 315. this is why I am not watching ouat anymore. the story ended. It was beautiful…
you will never be forgotten, Mr. Gold. You have been the bravest, truest hero. you gave your son what you never had.. a chance at happiness.

ewww I can’t watch 316 or any other episode anymore. I wish I would have believed the rumors and never watched 315 either. I wish there was a way to unwatch it. I wish I could stay with that beautiful ending of 311 as the end of the series.

if anyone would have told me that this was the end of Rumple’s story, that all he did was worthless, that he should never have bothered to love, I would have saved myself a lot of pain. I would have enjoyed a beautiful story with a beautiful end. THE END. Gold dead. Everyone is happy. Good bye. I loved that ending SO MUCH. I loved it SO SO MUCH. why did they have to ruin it all?

My brother usually watches these episodes on Hulu because he is limited in time and he pays for one or two months and catches up with shows. I told him not to bother catching up with this one. I usually never spoil for him because he HATES spoilers, but I spoiled this. I forwarned him, because this is what I wish someone would have done for me. I would never would have put myself and Rumple through this torture. I would have just quit while the story was still beautiful. while the story still ended on a happy note where it can only got towards happy endings from there.

why can’t you see that Gold’s death was a win? why can’t you see that this “death” (of Neal) is a message of uselessness?
look at it from a Rumple point of view.

you are the “price of magic”. you know what? according to this tv show, the “price of loving someone” is eternal suffering. the price of sacrificing everything EVERYTHING for your loved one – is that it wasn’t necessary in the first place.

    futility.

    useless.

    hopeless.

on another note, let me say that I will eat my hat if Bae will stay dead by 322.

I bet the writers were so pissed by that fans’ reaction to Gold’s death, the way they used to call it “death” as if he never really died, as if his sacrifice was never meant to be real, that they decided to make a rumor that someone ELSE will die forever, so that the fans will actually believe a death this time. This time the fans will believe that the sacrifice WAS real, and that sacrifice has repercussions. that the only way to get that character back is by having another character die for him. or something.

but I bet he isn’t really dead.

the writers are only really happy that THIS TIME the fans are discussing the death without using quotation marks.

What sort of message is that Marty?

What kind of message? The same message the writers sent by telling us that Baelfire’s character is dead forever. That this show is about hopelessness and futility, or in other words, a tragic tale. In literature, there is only one way a tragedy ends: in tragedy. More and more horrible things happen to all the characters until the story comes to its’ tragic conclusion. Have you ever read Antigone by Sophecles? It was a tragedy ending in a tragedy, just like it’s supposed to end.

I get you’re upset about Neal, nobody wanted Neal to die at all, but the show was not all about Neal, it is not about any one character. Let me ask you this, if Neal had lived and someone else had died, should all the other characters suffer for the rest of their days including Neal? Rumple “died” in 311

You say that Neal is not the main part of the story, however, I see Neal as the driving force to the entire story. He is the symbol of hope in this story. But anyway, let me just explain where I am coming from:

First of all to make it clear: I AM NOT A NEAL FAN. I never was a Neal fan, I wanted to smack him upside the head with a harry potter book a couple of times. I am a very big Rumple fan, though, and according to me, (I know some people disagree) Rumple has been a true hero from the beginning. From the time he was happily married to Milah, having earned himself a better name despite having grown up at the shadow of his coward father.

Image is everything on this show, and when Rumple sacrificed that image, when he ruined his good name KNOWINGLY (he knew what happens to people who injure themselves to get away from fighting – they are branded COWARDS=the thing he feared MOST was being branded a coward) just to return home to a child he has never even met yet, to me this has been an enormous sacrifice.

So yes, ever since I saw that episode where we find out the REASON he left the war he has been my hero.

(another reason I was laughing when Pan was complaining that Rumple “pulled away at his NAME” lol he was basically listing all the things that Rumple worked so hard to change because of him, and those same things that he sacrificed later for HIS son)

So why can I not watch anymore of this show? Why do I believe that the only way this show can end is in tragedy (yes, for ALL the characters)? Because I am a Neal fan? I am not.

I remember when we were speculating who the death would be. Some people were sure it would be Neal, and I was not willing to believe it of these (so far) amazing writers. But my input was very short in that discussion. I said again and again: Writers, if the death is Neal, please, let Gold stay dead.

The whole reason of Gold’s existence was Bae. The reason he lived (he could have died honorably in the Ogre’s wars) and the reason he died. The reason he sacrificed again and again his own happiness, his own peace of mind, his own safety, he even sacrificed his soul (became the dark one) was for his child, Baelfire. And again in this last episode (315) he sacrificed his freedom, his self.

(((oh, and by the way, Rumple didn’t “die” he really died. his sacrifice was REAL, and he should have stayed dead.)))

So what message does this send? That after ALL THIS SACRIFICE his son still died. After centuries of working on a way for his son to have a chance at happiness, his son gets NO happiness. So what is the message here?

The message is this: no matter how great a hero you’ve been, Rumple, your entire life, no matter how hard you worked no matter what hel you’ve been through, just to ensure that your son is happy, it will not matter.

    It’s all for nothing.

Your efforts are futile. Don’t bother to love. Don’t bother to sacrifice for love. Just don’t bother, because it’s hopeless.

So there you go. Rumbelle can’t ever possibly ever have any kind of happiness. Rumple is beyond any possibility of consoling, beyond any possibility of alleviating the pain. He is done for. And Belle, well, even if she didn’t have a hand in his death, with her “beast” so dead to the world, how could she ever be happy?

In addition, even though I am totally against silly shipping, I pay attention to the STORY and the writers made it clear that Emma loves Neal, they are true love (even though Regina has more “chemistry” with her) so Emma having lost her own true love after telling him that she was hoping he was DEAD (in neverland), you know, guilty feelings’ got no rhythm…

This has basically been set up as a tragedy, and if the writers will have the actors pretend for the characters that they CAN be happy, well, it doesn’t ring true.

No, it won’t be bittersweet either. It can’t be. Not in this story.
t’s the most tragic tragedy to have ever been written

aside from us diehard oncers who checked out BTS spoilers and such, as far as the general audience and characters knew Rumple was dead. Did that stop Snowing from getting their happy ending? No. Should Neal have never got his happy ending because his dad was dead? No.

absolutely not. I totally agree that EVERYONE should have gotten their happy ending if Gold had stayed dead. he died for that reason, that everyone would get a happy life. but he didn’t just die for that. the difference here is, he LIVED for that. this was his life’s work. of course everyone sould gat a happy ending. HE, Gold, got a happy ending. his end was a happy one. he was successful. he DID IT!! he saved his son, he made sure his son knew that he was loved, he made sure his son had a chance at happiness. HE WON!!

but now… now Pan won. now, as Pan always wanted, he will “just make another kid with his fertile Belle” Now, as Pan always wanted, Hook or Regina or (fill in the blank) will take Emma and “pick up the pieces”

or whether it was BTS issues and what not, there is no need to make other characters suffer just because the death wasn’t who you wanted it to be.

other characters ARE ALREADY SUFFERING! there is no way it will be believed that they aren’t. as hard as the writers and actors will try it, it will either destroy their credibility as characters, or it will make the audience frustrated, and will stop caring for the characters altogether.

when one reads a story (or watches tv or whatever) they like to identify with the characters. no viewer with a heart or a brain will ever identify with the characters who aren’t completely inconsolable to their child’s death. there is no relief for Gold. none. no where to go from here. his whole story made it clear.

it’s equivalent to Regina’s losing Henry.
a never ending cycle of tragedy.

and poor Rumple can’t even commit suicide to end his misery.

Well me too. Rumple and Regina have always and forever be my most fav. Ever. But I would gladly keep watching and being excited about this show even without Rumple, if the story would keep being amazing as it was.

But if Neal is really dead forever this is not a fantastic story. And the funniest thing is that I NEVER EVEN CARED FOR NEAL for his own sake. Not the character (go look at the rumbelle thread how mad I was at neal) and not for the actor.

The ONLY reason I stopped watching this show and following this rediculous story is because neal was part of the bigger STORY. and they couldn’t kill that.

I am all for the story. I love the characters, but I agree that some of them can die.(like Cora and even Rumple) but more than anuthing, I love the story. Or LOVED the story. lovED.when it was beautiful Once.

I dont get how you can still watch this show, rg. I mean I never believed for a second that neal would stay dead and I still cant bring myself to watch because y’all are saying that he really is dead.

If I believed this to be really really true I wouldn’t even bother with the forums… I would just quit cold turky.

Its only because a&e were so amazingly good up till now that I cant bring myself to believe that they would ever kill off a character like Bae with a name like Baelfire, and all thatvstory potenial.

This is why, although I stopped watching the actual show, I am still … Here

Omg you guys. You are giving me the hope I had originally while watching 315, before all people here yelled at me that HE DID DIE OK HES DEAD I kept putting the word died in quotes. And rg and everyone kept yelling at me that HE IS REALLY DEAD HE DIDNT JUST “DIE” he really died etc. so I started believing you guys that a&e are really not as great storytellers as I first thought and that tv shows are just pretty people who entertain well etc. well

Now I am back to myself. Neal isn’t dead. He is just as dead as Rumpel was. Which, ok was really dead, but reversible

I think I remember someone spoiling that one death will be a fake and will be reversed and the other death will be permanent.
Also I remember alot of AandE replying to #hope for swanfire and that there can be hope.
Also I remember the poster believe in second chances I doubt thesecond chance is at death.

Also. No matter what the actors want, no good, self respecting story can EVER kill a charachter with a name like Baelfire.
