Participantanother reason I think he is trying to help Regina redeem herself is how he talked when visiting Cora’s coffin. he tells Regina she can’t have everything, she shouldn’t seek revenge, she should “cut her losses”

I don’t think he’s a “saint” so much as Rumple is one of the most complexly drawn characters on the show. He has layers and layers that are always being peeled back. He longs to be a romantic hero like Charming but finds it very hard to be noble because of his cowardice and need for power.
about the cowardice thing… he didn’t look like such a coward before he realized that this isn’t really a war but a slaughter. I think the easy path would be to die in war but he really wanted his son to have a father…
then on Hook’s ship why didn’t he duel? well he obviously didn’t know how, so Hook would kill him and then Bae will be orphaned from mother AND father…

I also like the pretty quickly thing. Also, GOAT working for PP “unwittingly” sounds to me like we’re all right about them being nothing more than foot soldiers.
Imagine the looks of astonishment and horror on Tamara and Greg’s faces when they realize whom they’ve been working for all along. Pan Pan certainly uses magic since he can fly and he has the power to rip people’s shadows from them. Peter must have a bad fairy (Tinker Bell) who supplies him with pixie dust.
why do people insist that it is Peter Pan who is the wicked one? Peter Pan sounds to me like a worker for HIM whoever HE is. (even Rumpel is afraid of HIM – he doesn’t know HIS name)
“Peter Pan never fails” sounds to me like he is just the shadow who delivers the children to HIM. and he never fails to deliver the children to HIM.
not only that, I feel that PP is a victim himself! after all, he is only a shadow which means that his shadow was rrrrrripped from him…June 11, 2013 at 4:46 pm in reply to: who’s worse Rumpel or Regina? list all bad things each did #197903Marty McFly
ParticipantWhen Cora was dying who was she talking to when she said “you would have been enough” Rumpel or Regina?

We have no idea how Cora’s life could have been, Rumple more than likely manipulated it for her family to be poor, so he could seek her, hence when he told Regina: “There’s a lot of history between me and your family, past and future.” Cora could have been filthy rich had Rumple not meddled into her family’s business, and there’s proof he’s stolen a family’s wealth before, wanting to bankrupt King George. Cora could have been rich, still married Henry, probably truly fell in love with him, and loved Regina, who could have married Daniel, but that was not the case, due to Rumple’s meddling. !
I don’t think Cora has been good. I don’t know what her father was like, but she treated him badly. she was ruthless before she met Rumpel (stealing the gown trying to get the prince to marry her) did Rumpelstiltskin really arrange to make her poor? I didn’t see that but who knows. either way she could have chosen love but she chose power instead. I am sure Cora was ruthless without any help. she reminds me of that French girl from the short story “the necklace” where she complains that because she is so beautiful it’s not fair that she is poor. Cora was definitely beautiful and aggressive because of that..

Cora, having ripped her heart out, in all honesty, cannot be blamed for the murders she committed. It’s exactly when people are under hypnosis, they don’t know what they did till they wake up. Yeah, she ripped it out herself, but remember, she was just a girl who was hopelessly devoted to Rumple, just like so many of you here, who wish to name all Regina’s wrongdoings, but give limited on Rumples.
the dagger could have the same effect (hypnotism) but she was NOT a girl when she ripped her own heart out. she knew exactly what she was doing: choosing power over love.

The centuries of murdering and lying just to get to this point, even though we haven’t seen, people, we know he did it!!! He was the Dark One!
you’re assuming he has been killing for centuries. I have a feeling he’s been spinning straw into gold in his own quiet estate and was very lonely for centuries thinking about his son and the prophecies and planning the curse
@WickedRegal wrote:
I love Rumple as much as the next person, but we must tell the truth! Cora was redeemed when Regina placed her heart back, because that’s when love entered her again, which is why her heart was not black as coal, because she was still pure in heart.
the heart thing intrigues me. what would Regina’s heart or Rumpel’s heart look like if someone ripped it out? Hook and Mila’s hearts were both bright red, so I have a feeling that Regina just invented this whole thing to scare Snow.

except, Rumpel, who took those moments of misery, and pain, to install darkness and hate, and especially when RUMPLE, whale, and Hatter tricked Regina with the Daniel incident, when he could have brought Daniel back, and Regina could have been finally happy, but they took that from her, thus creating the Evil Queen finally.
he could not bring Daniel back. Rumpel knew it was not possible that’s why he payed Dr. Frankenstein to keep practicing this medicine he wanted to know if there was really something more powerful than magic that can bring back the dead. he wanted Regina to know that so that she shouldn’t hold on to her past too much but start moving forward and enact that damn curse already. he knew she would do it from the prophecy but he felt bad that he made her a bad person so in SB he tried to help her redeem herself
I think Regina was very evil but I believe that Rumpel should be blamed for it. or maybe Bae. or the blue fairy. but Cora was bad from the start

To me, Milah’s a very vain person who is worried more about what people think of her than about what Rumple or Bae might be feeling. If she really thought her son would suffer more by having a coward for a father than being fatherless, why didn’t she take Bae with her on Hook’s ship?
if she would have taken Bae with her to hook’s ship, Rumpelstiltskin would have fought Hook and he would have probably died. the way I understood it Rumpel never dueled before while Hook was an expert, so as much as Rumpel wanted to save his wife, he was even more scared to leave his son alone (without a father as well as a mother) so he didn’t fight Hook.
but if Balefire was on that ship – of course Rumpelstiltskin would fight, but then he’d die and there’d be no story.Marty McFly

ParticipantCould Nederland possibly be the land where wraiths roam? it is a dark place, and wraiths don’t like the light… maybe a shadow is a sort of soul? nah. could this be the reason that the dark one nailed down his curtains, because he knew his son was in Nederland and he wanted to feel that poor boy’s suffering?

I keep hearing people complain that the season seemed fractured, while I feel it was a long season once you really think back to all that was covered, I loved the arcs. This one storyline is the only one that makes me feel like they had intended to go one direction with the writing and then something changed in the writer’s room. I know their writer’s jobs aren’t easy but the downside to creating characters that people love is that you gotta do them justice and I’m so sad that they didn’t this time. And it really annoys me that Eddie and Adam keep saying they like Lacey–really?? They need to consult with Jane Espenson more because I don’t think the guys get what we dig about Rumbelle. Thanks for letting me rant!
it’s funny that the guy I talk to like Lacy and all the girls hate her 😀 another reason I like Rumple so much. he didn’t like Lacy better than Belle.
