The mute maid who drew the picture of the dagger and ended up in Augusts room? The mute maid sounds as shady as Augus who knew WAY too much for a guy living and growing up in the lwom.
The cart man who was turned into a snail? Milah? Those happened almost immediately after the curse took over. And Rumple regreted it ever since. (See what he says to regina about turning people into a snaail etc.)
He taught Cora magic? That did not make her a monst. SHE chose to listen to the king. she ripped out her heart and became a villain. And lets not forget SHE gave up zelena. Fora was bad to the bone. Nothing on her master.
Regina was also raised with darkness. She had her mom as influence. Rumple only sped up her evilness so that he could help her redeem herself through filli g thay hole in her heart with a child etc.

Speaking of villains getting a redemption arc:
Regina was the only one who atoned for her sins. Not ALL her sins, she had MANY. but she certainly showed great progress.
1) she SAVED the people she spent years trying to kill
2) she was only good for Henry’s sake at FIRST but became good even though she didnt expect good things to happen as a reward. She gave up Henry to save the town. Etc.
She is delightfully crazy, emotional, stormy, and regrets nothing because “it got her her son”
So she might never be fully redeemed in the sense that she had all her sins erased. But as a person she definitely grew TONSHook, otoh, never grew at all. Look at the apology to Belle, as an example. He said “sorry?” Regina was alot more sincere in hervapology to Belle.
And yet all of this blatant hypocracy brings me to think that it is ultimately a show about good vs evil, and evil could stare you right in the face and you wouldnt realize it. (A line regina said in season 1 to david)

When he almost died from so much darkness, he sencerely begged Belle to go with will so he wont hurt her when he is a zombie dark one when Rumple is dead. This was when he had not even a tiny flicker of humanity left in him
From what i heard Hook was not as good to Emma while a fresh DO
Emma lost her savior status the moment she kissed hook. Untill then she was a savior. She saved everyone from cora, she saved the town from the diamond she saved Regina from the wraith, hooks ship from the mermaids etc. But the moment she kissed hook, all she became was a whiner. Im the savior! I never get a day off! Meanwhile, Regina saved everyone. Emma was useless. Rumple saved everyone. Emma was useless. Regina saved everyone again and again, and Emma was nothing but a whining toddler.
That is why Rumple was so disappointed when she did not choose to send her powers to the hat. She was very powerful, but did nothing with her powers because she was hook’s girl. If she had the sense to give up her powers, hook might have broken up with her, as the price of losing her magic i guess maybe he only wanted her because of her powers, but she woukd become an ordinary person.
Because she didnt so this, because she didnt let the hat suck out her powers, she turned to darkness. Because Power currupts, weather its light or dark power, it currupts. Gold was hoping she would choose not to have power. As the true hero he thought she was.
He created a savior. Hook distroyed the savior. Good thing he had a back up plan for a savior. Regina.
Neal could just not be dead quite easily. They left his body in the forest with Zelena. He could just not be dead. I understand what you are saying about MRJ being in another show, but if his show was cancelled then he could just be alive on Ouat. If Zelena can suddenly be alive again and pretending to be Marian for half a season then Neal can just be alive too.
the first time Neal could have come back was if Emma would have TLK him. this is why Rumple stood up and left them to be alone together. when he saw she was not kissing him, he wanted to do something, but as he was under Zelena’s control he COULDN’T.
the second time was when he turned Zelena into a green dusty portal opener. he HOPED that Emma would go back to the time Neal almost opened the DarkOne’s vault, and save him. bring him to the future alive. but she went to her parents meeting instead.
every time Gold hoped that Emma would act like a savior and bring back Neal, she didn’t.
Now she wants to bring back hook. well, at least he will go with her this time and try to bring Neal back himself.I hate myself but I decided to go to netflix and watch some scenes. (yes I am insane. I ACTUALLY have hope for a refreshing plot where swanfire blossoms and Hook decays – call me crazy)
so I decided to watch a few scenes from season 4. I must say, that I do not think they destroyed Rumple’s character at all. in every single scene he looks and acts like a hero. if any of you have netflix, watch that scene again where Gold and Emma talk. right before she is about to open that door with the hat. notice the way they look at each other. it’s like they can see into each other’s souls and they GET what they see. it’s a conversation between two heroes. “we have no choice” what was not said, but implied is “we have no choice because we are saviors”
I bet this is the ONLY scene in season 4 where these two interact, because from what I heard, Emma and Hook barely have any scenes apart, but in this scene, it reminded me of all these interactions they had in season 1,2 and 3 and again, they were beautiful together. both the same type. desperate souls.another thing. when Belle lied to Rumple, and even used him, and then cut him on the neck, she felt really bad and fell to the ground apologizing, he fell right with her and didn’t even show a second of anger towards her. But at the town line, when he did the same to her (minus the cut on the neck) she turned away unforgiving while he was on his hands and knees begging (besides for sending him into the cold harsh world without even a cane, let alone some money or his car)
back to the Emma/Gold scene by the hat: I think he wanted her to sacrifice her white magic to become ordinary, and this would maybe somehow bring Neal back in the long run.
Question:: did Emma become selfish and babyish AFTER that scene or was she like that since 4a? those who watched till 5a could you tell me?But if it’s true that MRJ did not want to leave the show and he was not fired and it really WAS “bold storytelling”, than maybe. MRJ could make time for both shows.
After all, I heard A and E handpicked him and Belle. Maybe because they knew these two will have a very small but hugely significant part…?Maybe hook and pan would be the big bad and underworld is the new neverland?
Why would A and E hand-pick actors?

Pan: “no it is’t, you. You first.”So next Belle will die and Pan will win until Golden Hero fights back by sacrificing more than just his life, this time etc.
I remain firm in my belief that ouat STILL has a golden oppertunity to completely redirect the entire story and make it about a hot and sexy villain who everyone trusts and believes and loves vs. An arguably ugly hero whom no one likes who isn’t “nice” and who doesn’t smile much. In other words This story could maybe STILL get back on track WITH swanfire happily ever after, and with a Golden hero. Golden oppertunity. All they need is a love potion explanation. It’s all in that bottle of rum Just sayin’
I wish I had half of the hope you did….this is basically what OUAT did to the little hope I had left for them.

I did not watch a single episode after 3×15 my hopes were raised a bit when i heard they were doing time travel
So i caved in and watched till 3×22
Now underworld they are raising my hopes again… but i will NOT watch unless i hear that swanfire is cannon AND that Gold is a hero. In other words, until i hear that it WAS a good story after allI remain firm in my belief that ouat STILL has a golden oppertunity to completely redirect the entire story and make it about a hot and sexy villain who everyone trusts and believes and loves vs. An arguably ugly hero whom no one likes who isn’t “nice” and who doesn’t smile much.
