ModeratorMoving a bit away, back to the topic, but someone on Tumblr pointed out that the quickness of this announcement suggests that this has been in the works for awhile and could only officially go public once their non-compete clause from OUAT was lifted. It might explain why we saw so few episodes from A and E in this last season–they knew ABC was going to cancel the show and took the gig, working on it in tandem with ending OUAT.
Bryan Fuller, the original choice to helm Amazing Stories, exited the project on February 7th. Just 1 day after OUAT’s cancellation was announced: http://variety.com/2018/tv/news/bryan-fuller-amazing-stories-apple-1202690957/
So I’m guessing they were offered the job shortly after this.

ModeratorFunny thing is I thought they should have gone the anthology route for OUAT Season 7. But I agree with some that maybe this will be a better type of show for them. Both because of the anthology format, and because this is a series with limited episodes per Season for a streaming service. Streaming shows have the luxury of more creative freedom and more time to work on each episode. The traditional 22 episode broadcast format is a very rushed affair.

ModeratorFinals for the series finale are in. Still kept our 0.5, but ticked down to 2.27 million viewers.

ModeratorAt least it ended steady. Glad it didn’t drop down to a .4
And hey, we avoided hitting the dreaded 0.3 this Season! Considering how much the show has dropped in the Spring with DST before, only dropping 1 tenth from the Fall’s low is actually not too bad. It’s just that the Fall had already started as low as a 0.7, and dropped to a 0.5 just 3 episodes in. As bad as the ratings overall have been, it’s definitely been the most consistent ratings for any Season. lol!

ModeratorPrelims are in for the series finale. 0.5 demo and 2.32 million viewers. Too bad it couldn’t at least crack a 0.6 or higher.
Unroundeds are:
Once Upon a Time … 0.496 … (0.509 … 0.483)
So we are actually higher than last week. It’s just that last week was a weak 0.5, while this week is a strong one.

ModeratorReading this thread is really touching to me. I’ve cherished these past several years discussing this crazy show with each and every one of you. I truly won’t forget it. We’ve talked about “this could be the final Season” as far back as Season 4, but to flash forward 4 years since then to that finally being the case? It’s a lot to process.

ModeratorI think what makes this sacrifice really work is how full circle he’s become as a character. Not only did he finally do the right thing purely for it being the right thing to do, but he did so to save the life of a person he once considered his mortal enemy. He would have obviously sacrificed himself for somebody like Belle or Baelfire in a heartbeat, but Hook? The man he hated for the longest time and even wanted to kill on a few occasions? That takes a ton of character development.

ModeratorI have been…surprisingly emotional today. I honestly didn’t think I’d feel anything but relief but, as I should have expected emotions are far more complicated.
For better or worse, this show has been a part of our lives for the past 7 years. To think that it’s actually coming to a close tonight is a lot to sink in. It goes beyond the show itself, but also the fandom as a whole.

ModeratorWell, it could be Wish Rumpel meeting Wish Belle. That would solve last episode’s cliffhanger with a happy solution instead of a fight.
Wish Belle died back in Season 6. We even saw a bag of her bones.
