ModeratorAnd that would give them time to test out a new replacement–like maybe that show based on Disney theme parks (or something…???) we heard about
Hyperion (the Disney parks pilot) definitely seems like it has the potential to be OUAT’s replacement. I’m sure ABC is considering that possibility. They may want to continue having something Disney related at 8pm on Sundays.

ModeratorThat’s what I am thinking. Spread it over a 6/7 split and have Bobby pop in and out as Past Rumple since he’s always been so integral to the Enchanted Forest machinations.
If they do go the truncated final Season route of only 13 episodes, the may choose to only air it for either Fall or Spring. That was what Lost did for its last few Seasons.

ModeratorI’m still going with this actually being Tiger Lily since the article mentions she has a connection to Hook, which she does in the original story. Plus, having her be Pocahontas would be incredibly problematic for the reasons already explained. This announcement also comes shortly after Tink was confirmed to return, which could further point to a Neverland connection.
MatthewPaul
ModeratorSo this Tiger Lily is older than most incarnations. Hook killed Tiger Lily did he not? Wasnt that stated in season 3 or was that a theory?
But im excited for this. And she’ll actually be played by a native American so thats good.
It was never stated that he killed Tiger Lily. Maybe you’re thinking of when he said he killed Rufio, which was of course a shoutout to the character from the movie Hook?

ModeratorAnd here for the longest time I thought they were intentionally avoiding depicting Tiger Lily or any of Neverland’s Native Americans for racial sensitivity reasons. Even if Adam and Eddy themselves considered it, I thought ABC would shut them down. Neverland’s Native Americans have been controversial for quite some time due to the associated racial stereotypes. So I guess since they’re actually doing it, they’ll still need to be incredibly careful in how she’s depicted onscreen. They’re casting an actual Native American actress, so I guess that’s a decent start. I wouldn’t be surprised if they take some influence from Pocahontas in their portrayal of her, since they may still want to avoid actually including her on the show.

ModeratorThought it made sense to just post this here rather than make a new thread, since they’re related:
“Eddie and Adam came in and talked with me right before the holiday about what some of their potential ideas might be for Season 7,” ABC entertainment president Channing Dungey told Deadline at TCA today. “There was some interesting stuff, we gave them some feedback, and they are now working and are going to come back and sit with me in a couple of weeks. I think that, having had worked on Lost, they have a very good sense of the engagement with fans and wanting to end the story in the right way.”
It will be after that meeting that Dungey and her team make a decision whether there will be a Season 7 of Once Upon A Time. But “regardless of what we decide to do at the end of this season, I think they think they would put a little bit of a bow here, and then there is a next piece that comes after that, so they are trying to figure out what that is and how that works.”
Dungey declined to comment whether that “next piece” would be a different incarnation of Once, a spinoff or a something else. But it’s clear that the series, which has reinvented itself a number of times, may be heading for its biggest reinvention yet as the show’s main storyline comes to an end this season. “There will be a little bit of closure in this particular narrative regardless of what happens with Season 7,” Dungey told Deadline.

Now I’m confused. So are they planning to end the main current storyline this Season, with plans of doing some sort of reboot for a potential Season 7? If that’s really what’s going on, it seems like maybe 1) Adam and Eddy want to be prepared in case they don’t get renewed. 2) If they do get renewed, certain cast members like Bobby and Gosh may not return, so they have plans to change things up to counter that. Still not quite sure what this all means.

ModeratorMy personal feelings about the direction of the show aside, it’s time. It really is. It ran its course and it did really well.
Agree. They should really be looking at Season 7 as a conclusion going forward, and not “how do we continue to milk things?” With the way ratings are, I really don’t think that they have more than one more Season. However, based on Channing Dungey’s earlier comments, it does look like the network at least wants to give the show a proper conclusion when the time comes.
Yeah, so [executive producers] Eddie Kitsis and Adam Horowitz, as veterans of Lost, are fully conscious of all these things. They came in and sat with us recently to talk about what their ideas would be for a season 7 and we’re in conversations about that right now. But I think this is absolutely a show that is beloved to us and if and when we decide to end it, we want to do it the right way and really give the fans the ending that they deserve. But I will say that Eddie and Adam have some really good ideas for future seasons.
Regardless of how each of us currently think of the show, I imagine we would all support that route. I for one don’t want the show cancelled at the last minute, without enough time for Adam and Eddy to prepare a conclusion. Ending on a cliffhanger is the worst fate of any show.
