ModeratorWhy was Charming not truthful? He hasn’t done anything since Snow told him to drop it.
He told Snow that he would burn the piece of paper, but he ended up not doing so, hinting that he still wants to find out who killed his father.

ModeratorIn theory, we should know by the end of this episode if Hook is responsible for killing GrandpapaCharming or not.
I’m starting to think what they’ve been teasing about Hook and Charming isn’t that he’s responsible for killing PapaCharming, but that it will have to do with the fact that they’re now both keeping secrets from their loved ones. Hook is hiding the shears from Emma, while Charming wasn’t truthful when he told Snow that he wouldn’t track down his father’s murderer. Unless there’s something else I’m forgetting about?

ModeratorI was thinking of realms as parallel dimensions. OUAT already has its own version of DC’s multiverse, with at least one fictional London alongside the real one, so the framework is already there if they want to explain the two Jafars that way.
Adam and Eddy continue to insist that it’s the same Jafar, for whatever reason.
MatthewPaul
ModeratorMore than one London, more than one Agrabah.
Nope. Adam explained that it’s one Agrabah, but it’s one large region split into different cities. Jasmine’s father rules the capital, while Jafar’s father ruled a different city in Agrabah. That’s why the caption said “Capital of Agrabah”.

ModeratorAnd the added element of Rumple’s manipulations; she wouldn’t be the Savior, at least not in the way S1 understood her and the way Emma talks about herself, without Rumple putting a drop of that TL potion on the curse. She’s not just the Savior because she’s a good person, it’s her entire makeup. She’s still True Love Incarnate and I feel like they can’t possibly cut that away without undermining everything they’ve set up about Emma.
Yeah. I think the way it works is that both Emma and Aladdin had the requirements that deemed them worthy of Saviorhood, but they needed a catalyst to awaken their Savior powers. With Emma it was the dash of true love potion on the curse, and with Aladdin it was the Diamond in the Rough.

ModeratorGiven that Rumple played a HUGE part in making Emma the Savior, you’d think he’d have more to do this season besides slowly destroy his romantic relationship.
Wouldn’t this storyline be a golden opportunity to actually explore how Rumple found out about Saviors? We know that Emma became the Savior as a result of Rumple including a dash of her parents’ true love with the Dark Curse, but there’s certainly more that could be told. We know how he went about doing it, but we don’t know what led him to that conclusion.

ModeratorI think in a way, Adam does mean what he says about Wonderland remaining canon. However, I continue to get the impression that they would rather not connect to Wonderland too directly. Maybe their mindset is that because plenty of viewers never watched Wonderland, that they should keep the Wonderland callbacks to a minimum. Granted, we did get Will Scarlet in Season 4, but that was also 2 Seasons ago, and he has long since been forgotten. We did get Dr. Lydgate in last week’s episode, but he was brought on in a way that didn’t require referencing Wonderland. His appearance was more of an Easter egg for Wonderland fans, and perhaps a way to help indicate that Jekyll and Hyde were from Fictional Victorian England. I suspect the whole “Capital of Agrabah” thing was there specifically for Wonderland fans. Adam and Eddy foresaw that they would have fans calling them out otherwise. With Anastasia, it was conveniently never flat out stated that she was Cinderella’s stepsister, which unfortunately gave them some wiggle room. Not so much with Jafar and Agrabah. Though, I am surprised that they didn’t simply decide to pull an Ursula and split Jafar into two separate characters. Then they wouldn’t have to acknowledge Wonderland at all, and it would allow them more creative freedom with the character.
What Adam and Eddy are struggling with is coming up with a happy medium that satisfies both types of viewers. It’s a problem when the majority of Wonderland fans continue to feel like the show is largely being ignored, and therefore struggle to make sense of why it’s still considered canon in the process. I get that not everybody watched Wonderland, but I still think they could connect the two shows a lot better than they’re currently doing. For example, had Jafar briefly commented that he needed to control Agrabah to aid his search for “the genie”, that would have been enough to make sense of his motives. I still hope that we’ll get more Agrabah flashbacks this Season that could help shed some more light.

ModeratorI’ve seen a lot of people speculating the same thing. The fanbase would follow but the question is would they follow LIVE or next day/later in the week. ABC has not exactly had any success with their 9pm shows but OUAT isn’t bringing in the 8pm crowd like it used to.
Trying out a veteran in a struggling timeslot can sometimes work. They did after all fix the Thursday 8pm deathslot by moving Grey’s there. Of course Grey’s and OUAT are in two entirely different leagues, so who really knows. Moving the show to 9pm would be bad news for Daniel, though, since that would mean doing initial reactions at 10pm every Sunday. lol.
MatthewPaul
ModeratorOuch. Maybe if OUAT is lucky, it’ll get an adjustment when the final ratings come out tomorrow. TVGrimReaper still has it as likely to be renewed for now, at 82% of ABC’s scripted average. That’s how bad the shape of the network currently is:
That being said, one of the World Series games airs this coming Sunday, so I’m not terribly optimistic for that night. Typically we go down at least a .1 that week, based on the past 2 Seasons. It’s also a monumental World Series, because the Cubs haven’t been in the World Series for 71 years. Now if OUAT does go fractional by the end of the Fall, that could increase the possibility of it moving to 9pm. On the one head, the reason it airs on Sundays at 8 is because its considered “a family show”, but on the other hand ABC might want to try airing something new in that timeslot to give it a better shot. That possibility may or may not kill the show. While it would be airing against The Walking Dead, OUAT actually fared alright when it aired in that slot as a result of its 2 hour episodes, with at least 2 of those being against The Walking Dead. Granted, a regular 1 hour offering could be a different story.
