I figured it would be a fun idea to try guessing when the next promo or two airs, and how the rest of 5B’s pre-premiere promotion will go down. I’ll give it a try, while reviewing how it went down for 3B and 4B for comparison:
Season 3B
– First promo following the 3A winter finale (December 15th)
– Second shorter promo of Wicked Witch walking over Storybrooke town line (December 29th. Unusually quick compared to 4B and 5B, but it was just a teaser)
– Third promo 3 weeks before premiere (February 16th)
– Press Screening of the premiere 2 and a half weeks before premiere and Q&A session with Adam and Eddy (February 18th)Season 4B
– First promo following the 4A winter finale (December 14th)
– New promo 3 weeks before (February 8th)
– New promo during the Oscars the week before, featuring footage just for this promo. Teased dark Emma. (February 22nd)
– Press Screening of the premiere 5 days before premiere and Q&A session with Adam and Eddy (February 24th)Season 5B
– First promo following the 5A winter finale (December 6th)
– Possible promo during Galavant’s finale? (January 31st. Unlikely, but you never know)
– Possible promo 3 weeks before premiere? (February 14th. Would fall in line with 3B and 4B, though 3B’s promo at the time had a lot more new footage.)
– Possible Press Screening of the premiere and Q&A session with Adam and Eddy? (February 16th or 23rd or 26th or even March 2nd? 3B and 4B’s press screenings were both on Tuesday, though 3B’s was unusually early. I put in the Friday before as a guess too, in the event that they decide to follow the pattern of 5A’s press screening date instead)
– Possible promo during the Oscars the week before? (February 28th. Would fall in line with what we got for 4B. They may film something unique for the promo like they did with 4B, especially since this is the 100th episode)[adrotate group="5"]Ratings for last night are in. We were down compared to last week with a 0.5 demo and 2.10 total viewers. I was expecting somewhat of a dip, since normally any premieres airing against the NFC and AFC championship games drop. It could have been worse, but still not a fan of seeing the show suffer any more losses. This show really deserves better. Thankfully ABC SHOULD at the very least still air the finale next week, otherwise I’m going to throw some things. Really, it’s their only Sunday premiere for January (outside of AFV, which isn’t even new next week), and there’s only one week left to go.

Upon further reflection, I wonder if them trying to save Galavant from “Death”, and Galavant kicking “Death” in the junk were possible slams at the TVGrimReaper (The current mantle of the former Cancellation Bear). Heh.
These two episodes might have been the best of Season 2 so far. Just so many great moments! Gareth’s love song, the “Goodbye” song with death, Richard and Roberta falling for each other, Galavant trying to figure out how to control his zombie army, the rap battle between Izzy and Madalena, Madalena doing D’DEW (Dark Dark Evil Way), the Grease parody with Richard and Roberta, and so much more!

Surprised you didn’t go for the “tell that to the OUAT writers” joke. lol! Speaking of which, I couldn’t help but be reminded of Rumple and the Dark One when they had the whole D’DEW thing with Wormwood. You could even compare the Madalena and Wormwood master/teacher relationship to Regina and Rumple.
“Updated Cut” = Neal? Yeah, I’m preparing for this.

I guess they still had a bunch of VFX work to do. Interesting that the red filter won’t be the final look for the Underworld, too.
