ModeratorIt has nothing to do with OUAT ending, but it might be worth noting that A and E have split their time before (OUATinWL) and the last time that happened it was during the NL/Oz arc. Opinions will vary about whether or not A and E can effectively split their time/effort/writing between OUAT and another project.
They also split their time working on Tron: Uprising during the same time as OUAT Seasons 1 and 2. Granted that was an animated series, but still another show no less. It should be noted that the EW article states that Ian Goldberg will be the main showrunner for this show, indicating that Adam and Eddy won’t be as heavily occupied compared to OUAT.

ModeratorThe evidence is really piling up.
That OUAT is ending? Not so sure about that:

ModeratorThat’s what I’m expecting, actually. An entire scene of Emma handwaving (literally) all these inconsistencies before she cast the Curse in Camelot. The problem is that it’s so….well, it’s handwavey.
*insert long winded speech about fantasy and world building and how it’s not anything goes and how lack of rules means I stop caring since there is nothing to grab ahold of*
And knowing your luck, it will involve the next episodic Magical MacGuffin.

ModeratorIf we ever get an in-show explanation, I expect it to be along the lines of “Emma used her own magic to shield Hook from noticing the symptoms of being a Dark One.” How she did so is anyone’s guess.
MatthewPaul
ModeratorI checked the closed captioning for that episode. Merlin said, “The Dark One’s found me already.” The s sound at the end isn’t plural but a contracted form of, “The Dark One has found me already.”
The closed captioning isn’t always 100% accurate. Besides, had the captions said “Dark Ones”, they would have spoiled the plot twist.

ModeratorSomething interesting. I re-watched the scene with Merlin’s voicemail from “The Bear and the Bow”, and there was a piece of dialogue I found that could have been misleading. We thought he said “The Dark One’s found me already”, but what he really might have said was “The Dark Ones found me already.” So maybe it was both Emma and Hook?
MatthewPaul
ModeratorOne thing I could definitely see happening is Arthur and Zelena somehow regaining control of Excalibur, and then commanding Hook against his will to do their bidding. I have a feeling Arthur and Zelena’s roles aren’t done in the Camelot flashbacks.
