ModeratorIs this the first season premiere (besides the pilot) not directed by Ralph Hemecker? I know Ron Underwood has directed a number of episodes, but Hemecker usually directs big Once episodes. Intriguing.
Wow, you’re right. Mark Mylod directed the pilot, but Ralph directed 201, 301 and 401.

ModeratorOnce has referenced Lion King a couple times before.
Yep, I’m aware they’ve made references to it. They still haven’t directly adapted the story into the show.

ModeratorI still want Dr. Facilier, but if we are thinking about our past coming back to haunt us, maybe there is another Oz character who could serve as the Big Bad, coming to haunt Zelena and then they could make that character come from any world. Maybe they will go the Hercules route and introduce Hades. Now THAT would be amazing.
Yeah, Hades is a pretty popular Disney villain, and we’ve had Greek Mythology on the show before.

ModeratorOther than that…we’re tapped out of the *major* Disney villains that every one knows. The exceptions to that would be someone like Frollo or Sher Khan (but humanized). Actually. With the two Jungle Book live action coming out, here’s 20 cookies on a humanized Shere Khan.
If we’re going to theorize about humanized versions of animal villains, there’s also Scar from the Lion King. The Lion King in itself is the biggest Disney film that OUAT has not adapted, and for understandable reasons. How do you adapt a movie that solely stars talking animals in the middle of Africa, and how would you get them to believably interact with the core characters? And if you were going to somehow keep these characters as talking CGI animals, that could be too cost prohibitive for the network to approve.
In regards to other Disney villains, one of the only ones I can think of that would make sense as of now is Prince John. We’ve had the Sheriff of Nottingham, but have yet to see Prince John. Not sure if they’d be able to make him Big Bad material, but he could still show up.

ModeratorPast come back to haunt us? Okay. So who’s the villain for that? Cora, Pan, Ingrid, and Cruella are dead. Mal is reformed and Ursula went to live on Forgotten Character Island. (that really just leaves Zelena)
Or it’ll be yet another new villain who has yet to be announced. Aside from Jafar possibly making his debut on the parent show, I can’t think of anyone else off the top of my head in particular. I can’t see Zelena being the big bad for an entire half Season again.

ModeratorSinqua Walls as Lancelot
So he’s in it too even though there were no reports of him in Vancouver until 503 filming. Awesome.
And more evidence pointing to Lancelot being alive in the present day.

ModeratorBrent Stait as the Peddler
Wonder who this could be? Maybe the original Dark One?
