It appears the Zelena stuff is flashback, the promo made it seem like present day.

I think it will be both, and we’ll get the reveal that Marian was really Zelena.

I actually think Lily being Mal’s child was their plan all along. I brought this up in another thread, but I have a feeling this biblical quote is where they got the name: “Like a lily among the thorns, So is my darling among the maidens.”

    Source: http://biblehub.com/songs/2-2.htm

Cmon, lily among the “thorns”? An obvious connection to Maleficent. As for why they cast a latina as young Lily in the first place, they probably wanted a dark haired girl to parallel Regina during “Breaking Glass”, rather than casting her because Nicole Munoz is latina. But it doesn’t make sense when Maleficent is clearly not latina. Nicole Munoz appears to be a white latina, so the race thing might not have been accounted for when casting the adult Lily. I could buy Agnes Bruckner playing Maleficent’s daughter, but it’s harder to swallow that Nicole Munoz grew up to look like Agnes Bruckner. In the end, it was probably an oversight rather than blatant whitewashing. Doesn’t excuse it by any means, but sigh.

This thought just occurred to me. Could the character of the Author be Adam and Eddy’s way of making fun of themselves? Think about it. They are literally the authors (writers) of the show, and they have to deal with fans who disagree with the choices they’ve made throughout the series. Maybe the Apprentice was representing the vocal part of the fanbase. The fans who will actually tell Adam, Eddy and the other writers “how dare you do so and so”, while the writers respond back with “it makes for a better story” or any other excuse to defend what they wrote. Patrick Fischler even reminds me a little of Eddy Kitsis, particularly the way they speak and their snarky attitude. lol! Perhaps they thought “a mischievous Author with a god complex actually would make for a fun antagonist!” Maybe I’m reading too much into this, but thought it would be fun to share anyway.

The current author is called Walt. Ugh. UGH!!!!

No he is not. Walt was just an example August gave about well known authors throughout history, but he’s not the name of the author we met.

@nicole_thrower current author's name not yet revealed. Not Walt.

Actually, a thought just occurred to me. Did the Sorcerer and Apprentice choose a new author after they imprisoned the author we just met? We don’t even know if the author even still has his powers, because his quill was taken away by the Apprentice. Maybe August knows all of this information because he was secretly chosen as that author’s successor? As for why he’s not telling Emma and company this information, he may have his reasons. But yeah, August being chosen as the succeeding author would explain so many things. Yeah, I know this theory might have its holes, but I thought I might as well suggest it.

    Of course it’s an egg.

The episode is called “Best Laid Plans”.

In which … an egg is … laid!

    *runs away* ;)

    SFG

Turns out you were right about the pun!

Who noticed that the Once episode title "Best Laid Plans" is an egg pun? @KalindaVazquez thought it up!

This episode leaves me very split. I didn’t hate it, but I still had plenty of issues.

    Liked
    – Finally getting to meet the Author. I like that being the Author is an occupation passed down from person to person, and I kinda like the current Author being mischievous. I actually predicted the Author abusing his powers, and being imprisoned in the book as punishment. Also, I rather enjoy Patrick Fischler’s performance so far.
    – Henry getting to do stuff!
    – I enjoyed August’s scenes, and I’m glad he’s still around past this episode.

    Disliked
    – Snowing’s shadiness. What they did to Maleficent’s child felt pretty out of character, and I didn’t like their behavior in present day SB either. At least they admitted their mistakes in both the flashback and present day. They even finally confessed to Emma, but too little too late.
    – Cruella and Ursula’s involvement in the flashback. They were reduced to bumbling sidekicks, and how they ended up in our world felt rushed. And how did they not age for 30 years?
    – Dragon Mal CGI still looks meh.

I’ve been using a VPN to access Netflix from other countries (licensing deals are extremely different in other countries) and, because Season 4 is avaliable in the UK, Netflix has been using that poster for the show. So I guess that’s the official poster.

Same thing happened with Seasons 2 and 3. Even though the Season 3 poster was just Evil Queen Regina (in her Season 1 Evil Queen outfit) and an apple, it was used as the DVD/Blu-Ray cover just because that was the official poster for the Season.

That should be the Season 4 DVD/Blu-Ray cover, but it won’t be. Instead, we’ll get one made from the official Season 4 poster they’ve been using on iTunes, but with head shots of the main cast added to the top or bottom:

And you KNOW from a marketing stand point, they’ll sell a bunch of sets just for having Elsa on the cover.

If Regina got her happy ending with Robin–as per the book page the Author gave Robin–then she’d leave Snow alone, right? So Snow would grow up with her father but likely never meet Charming and never birth Emma. Most likely Emma wouldn’t exist.

True but Emma can’t just not be in the finale. I suppose Emma might not be in the Enchanted Forest at all, since as the savior, she was able to escape Peter Pan’s curse.

We’re also pretty sure Henry still exists too, as he was spotted filming solo scenes in Storybrooke wondering where everyone had gone. So like Emma, he was unaffected by the effects of this AU. Henry being born in this world was the loophole that prevented him from being taken by Pan’s curse, so it’s not far-fetched to think the same applies to this scenario. Actually, I wonder if the reason everyone else appears to return to FTL is because the Author doesn’t have the power to give them their happy endings in SB, so he had to transport them all to FTL first.
