Whilst I am sort of looking forward to Zelena’s return, I would be quite annoyed if all the other characters give Rumple a hard time for killing Zelena especially as none of them gave a damn that she died. They didn’t miss her, they were quite happy for her not to be around, so whilst Rumple did do wrong by killing her, it would be completely hypocritical for the likes of Snowing to turn around and berate him.

Belle would be annoyed that this was yet another secret Rumple was hiding behind her back, especially when Belle blatantly told Rumple NOT to go after Zelena during Rumple’s freaking proposal. Regina would also be annoyed because she wanted to give her sister a second chance, and Rumple tried to ruin that. Zelena might have done terrible things, but so did Regina, and Regina still considers Zelena family. There was even a deleted line of Regina telling her “it’s nice to have family in town” during their last conversation. Whether Zelena killed Neal or not, two wrongs do NOT make a right. Rumple wasn’t justified in killing out of revenge, especially when that would be the very last thing Neal would have wanted. And Zelena was POWERLESS at that point.

Marian being Zelena would actually clear up some of the issues surrounding OQ unfortunately. Thing is though, if this was planned all along, why didn’t the writers give “Marian” more screen time and flesh her out so that the audience would actually care for her then be doubly shocked that she was secretly Zelena all along. Instead Marian was just an obstacle. It is kind of disturbing how POC are never around for more than a few episodes at most.

There’s actually a real life explanation for Marian’s lack of screen time in 4A. Christie Laing was busy filming for the Lifetime TV series called “Un-Real” during the same time period. So the whole Marian as a Popsicle subplot was likely written as around Christie’s scheduling conflict.

And here we thought Once Upon a Time was too fast, in regards to adding villains. Nope, Gotham gives Once a run for its money by cramming them all in a single Season. I agree that they should expand on the villains they already have. More Penguin is always a good thing, and I agree that I’d like to see more done with Nygma other than pine for Kringle. More focus on the other villains, and less on Fish, but of course they want to give Fish attention because she’s Jada Pinkett Smith, and they don’t want to waste the star power they have with her. I do wonder how much of their plan for Season 1 changed once they went from a 16 episode Season to an expanded full 22 episodes.

I agree that the episode overall was decent, but for the last episode before a long hiatus, I felt it could have been stronger. More corruption within the police force, and Gordon’s trying to put a stop to it. I guess they’re further building up that Gordon will eventually take over as Commissioner himself? I did enjoy Gordon and Bullock teaming up with Penguin, as that led to a fun dynamic between the trio. I think the Doll Maker himself is an interesting villain, but I agree that Fish’s part of that subplot is weak.

A 5 week hiatus is pretty rough. I’m surprised they didn’t take a week or two off in February like a lot of shows do, but I guess FOX really wanted to take advantage of February sweeps. The fact that we’re already at the 18th episode of the Season almost made me think they were going to burn through the remaining episodes and end the Season early by the end of March, but that’s not happening. I do hope the remaining 4 episodes turn out to be good.

I do hope ABC is being more lenient on Galavant’s performance since 1) It was launched on Sundays in January against the Golden Globes and the 2nd biggest NFL game of the year. 2) It was a limited series only meant to air in 4 weeks. Would ABC really have anything better to air in such a time period? Plus, the soundtrack sales could be decent enough.

Interesting development going on between Lily and Snowing, if she really is Mal’s daughter. Could Snowing’s secret really tie in with her?

I actually do think that they weren’t lying about this Zelena subplot being planned since the end of Season 3, because as I said before, quite a few people (including myself) were suspicious of the way Zelena “died”, and something felt off about the way things played out with Marian in the finale. Why have Rumple turn Zelena into a doll and have her crumble to dust, instead of just crushing her heart or some other manner of killing her? Why did Marian’s apparent original death via execution by Regina not quite match up with the way Robin described Marian’s death back in “Witch Hunt”? If they planned it out properly, though, is what’s up for debate. A lot of the plot issues mentioned could be oversights, or we’re thinking about a lot of this way more than the writers did. At the same time, they wouldn’t have wanted to make the fake Marian twist look too obvious earlier on. For example, they weren’t going to show Marian/Zelena’s heart covered with black spots, since that would have been a dead giveaway. Nor are the visual effects team consistent with hearts and black spots to begin with (ex. Hook’s heart not having any).

It’s clear they wanted this Marian thing as just a temporary obstacle for Outlaw Queen, because prior to this it was smooth sailing once Regina and Robin accepted their feelings for one another. So they thought Marian suddenly coming back from the dead thanks to time travel would be just the type of angst Outlaw Queen needed. The idea of a long lost dead loved one returning when the other has already moved on with someone else was juicy for the writers, but annoying for us as the viewers. Either way you look at it (whether it was planned or not), this plot twist is their convenient way out of this mess. Oh Regina never really killed Marian in either timeline (watch this happen), Robin never technically committed adultery, nor was Robin able to express real feelings for Marian since she was a fake all along, etc.

I actually read a theory that if Lily really is Mal’s child, she might not have been born in the traditional manner. She actually might have been born as a side effect of the true love potion being inside of Mal, and thus there is no father. Timeline wise, this would also explain why Lily and Emma are close in age. And because Lily was born from the same true love created from Snow and Charming that was used for the curse, she and Emma are linked. I’ll laugh if she is literally hatched from a Dragon Maleficent egg. =p This is full of all sorts of weirdness, but this is Once Upon a Time…

I thought Rumple was supposed to “own” Storybrooke so he was the town landlord?

The Sorcerer’s mansion wasn’t brought over til the 2nd Curse happened. Rumple apparently didn’t even know the mansion existed until Belle found it.
