ModeratorI think Rumple was telling the truth about the hand but bluffing about the tape. Rumple doesn’t tell just truths or lies, he does both, and includes half-truths so if you are on the other end of a deal with him, you can never tell what is genuine and what is false.
I’m a bit annoyed that Emma’s revelation that Rumple has been up to no good came from Anna who met Rumple once over 30 years ago. The information would’ve been 30 years out of date.
The revelation still worked coming from Anna because it proved that Rumple lied to all of them when he said he knew nothing about Anna. Even though Anna’s information about Rumple was from 30 years ago, it was still recently that Rumple lied to them about Anna.

ModeratorYep, DO and I were talking about that. We both just saw Cap 2 for the first time, and Alan Dale was there, on the world security council.

And here’s something you would know. While Agents of SHIELD isn’t a movie, it is in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. So it should be worth noting that Amy Acker (Nova/Astrid) appears in an episode as the Cellist, Coulson’s former lover.

ModeratorDon’t forget Maleficent, Blue Fairy, Philip, David (he was dead when Snow sacrificed his heart, but before she gave him half of hers)
Philip had his soul removed, so it wasn’t quite the same. Aurora and Mulan only thought he was dead because they didn’t know there was a way to restore his soul until Cora mentioned it. Blue Fairy can be excused because it was never stated on the show itself that ripping one’s shadow kills them. Yes I know Adam and Eddy confirmed Greg was dead, but it was implied he was eaten by animals while he was just lying there. Maleficent and David I can agree with.

ModeratorNow that the movie is out, I thought I might as well share my opinions on it. I caught an early Xmas Eve screening. As someone who knows the original musical, I was pleasantly surprised with this adaptation. It’s one of the best stage musical to film adaptations I have seen in quite a while. Surprisingly, Disney let most of the dark elements from the original show still slide in this film.
Cinderella’s step sisters still have parts of their feet cut off by their mother as attempts to fit into the shoe, the step sisters also still get blinded by birds, Rapunzel’s prince still gets blind by falling into a bed of thorns, the steward still kills Jack’s mom, Cinderella’s prince still cheats on Cinderella by seducing the Baker’s wife (their song, “Any Moment”, is still intact), and the Baker’s wife still dies. However, Rapunzel no longer dies, but instead runs away with her prince and are never seen again. Rapunzel’s death in the original show was a catalyst for making the witch go crazy during the final act, so there is something lost by omitting that death. I’m not as bothered about it as I could have been, and I think it’s partially because Rapunzel was only in a small portion of the story to begin with. Again, I’m astounded Disney left as much of the dark and mature elements of the show in as they did.
I have to hand it to the casting decisions made for the film. For the most part, everyone in the cast shines in their roles. Meryl Streep kills it as the witch, especially when she sings “The Last Midnight.” James Corden and Emily Blunt are both splendid as the Baker and his wife. Anna Kendrick is very cute, but appropriate as Cinderella. Both Princes are great, especially Chris Pine as Cinderella’s Prince. The “Agony” number between both Princes was perfectly performed, and is arguably the highlight of the entire movie. Lilla Crawford and Daniel Huttlestone are superb as Red and Jack. If there’s any weak link in the casting, it’s Johnny Depp as the Wolf. Something about Depp’s performance just seemed off, but fortunately the Wolf is such a small portion of the play to begin with. I also somewhat wish they had double cast Chris Pine as both the Wolf and Cinderella’s Prince, as the two roles are traditionally double cast with the same actor. A reason the roles are normally double cast is because princes can be compared to wolves, in regards to how both can be predators to heed caution against in their own right.

ModeratorWhy is Cinderella no good at playing soccer?
Because she keeps running away from the ball!
And she had a pumpkin for a coach.

ModeratorSurprisingly none of the Frozen portion of the Season used Disney song names for episode titles, not even “Let it Go.” Actually this is the first one named after a Disney song, unless you count “Second Star to the Right”, which technically is the name of a song in Peter Pan. And that was named after the phrase, which was in the original J.M. Barrie story.

ModeratorOmg. OMG! Okay new trivia question!!
Name the two OUAT cast members who both appeared in the Santa Claus 2 movie!
I was watching the movie earlier and noticed someone and I was like no way that’s who I think It is but it turns out it was
The answer to my question was that August Wayne Booth’s name is based on the real life Wayne Booth, who coined the term “unreliable narrator.” Anyway, the two OUAT cast members who appeared in The Santa Clause 2 are Elizabeth Mitchell and Beverley Elliot.

ModeratorWait I know Miracle on 34th Street
Correct. Next question. Pinocchio’s grown up alias is August Wayne Booth. What is the origin of that name in relation to Pinocchio?

ModeratorWasn’t she dressed as an elf in a department store?
Yep, but I still need the title of the movie. Hint, it’s a remake of another classic Christmas movie.

ModeratorThere’s no denying that Frozen was a smart marketing move, in regards to the ratings. As I said before, it’s the ratings average of the entire Season that matters. So even if 4B is significantly lower, the show is likely safe for at least a 5th Season thanks to how 4A performed. I’m sure ABC is also banking on the Queens of Darkness to help sustain ratings, since these are three of the most iconic Disney villains being brought to life. I think it’s unfair to judge their potential based on the performance of 411. 411 aired during a bad night for television with viewers already tuning out of TV for the holidays. I’ve even heard some mistake 410 for the Winter finale, since it wrapped up the majority of the Frozen storyline, so I’m sure there were a good number of people who weren’t even aware 411 was airing.
