Except what I’m saying is clearly a subjective interpretation of what I’m witnessing. It means that I get to look at it and say, “that makes no sense.” taking it up with the writer will do nothing because she clearly had a different interpretation. Also, I don’t use Twitter to criticize. I don’t like doing that and I don’t like when others do it. I think it doesn’t make a lick of sense that Ariel randomly saved the pirate from a shark feeding frenzy just in the nick of time! They left it “open” (emphasis on quotation marks) “just in case.” It’s a thing TV does, fine. But that doesn’t mean it gets a pass in the logic department and it doesn’t mean I don’t get to call what I see as a spade, a spade.

Of course there’s the matter of different interpretations, because as you may recall other fans actually left open the possibility that Blackbeard may have survived back when “The Jolly Roger” aired. And it looks like the writers shared that same viewpoint. I wasn’t suggesting to outright criticize Jane directly, but more so simply ask an honest question. I still like to get the writer’s mindset and interpretations to get a clearer understanding, because that can help broaden each of our own interpretations. I for one might question one thing, but if I hear what the writer has to say for themselves, I at least take the time to think about and acknowledge it. Whether one agrees with what they have to say is another matter altogether, but I feel it’s better than never knowing what they have to say at all. My final judgement about this Blackbeard debate is that it comes down to your suspension of disbelief.

There is retcon and there is LOGIC.

Fine, maybe it’s not retcon because of no body. But there is LOGIC at play here, okay? Sharks, bleeding = feeding fenzy. It takes you out of the moment when the explanation is somehow a mermaid saved the bleeding man from shark infested waters at the last second. It’s eye roll worthy.

So fine, maybe it’s not retconny cause “no body!” but that doesn’t mean it gets a pass on writing.

Maybe you should take it up with Jane, since she’s still replying to people tonight. I’m actually curious what her response would be.

And there’s also the timeline issue of how did it get into Gerda’s stuff if they were on the mission to get it when they died. But I -think- that we’re going to find that was a thing that happened before their death somehow.

    Jane just answered this

@dwsherlockfan They didn't get it during that voyage. They got it on a previous trip in which they met Black Beard.

Concerning whether they always planned Blackbeard to stay dead or have him survive:

@ItachiIshtar If you don't see a dead body on TV, never accept the death. Just like "if you don't see a face, it's a stunt double." #Once

Yeah, I just rewatched too. I think the misleading thing was “something new, to go with something borrowed.” That, combined with the fact that she draws it out of the air behind the dress, probably put the suggestion in our minds that she made it.

And there’s also the timeline issue of how did it get into Gerda’s stuff if they were on the mission to get it when they died. But I -think- that we’re going to find that was a thing that happened before their death somehow.

That quote is actually mentioned by Elsa in this episode:

“This was my present for Anna for her wedding. It was among our mother’s things, but to us it was new.”

In regards to where the necklace came from, I actually re-watched the scene from 401. You never actually see Elsa “poof” the necklace into existence or even hear any magical sound effect. She just has it in her hands, so she might have just found it lying around the castle.

    I have questions.

    1) How did the necklace end up in Gold’s shop? It was in the fireplace in Arendelle

    2) How is the necklace the wishing star. Elsa GAVE that to Anna in 401, right? She POOFed it out of thin air? Yes?

We saw Rumple take the necklace from the fireplace when he payed Ingrid a visit during last episode’s flashback.

For timeline clarity, here are some responses from Jane

@ItachiIshtar Yep. That's what he said.

    @PhoenixHeart815 In this episode? Yes.

I find it hard to believe that the Apprentice and Blue are out of the picture quite yet, so I do suspect they’ll escape the hat at some point.

Bumping this thread because the promo had leaked a few days ago and it has now officially aired.
