Just had an idea. What if Rumple’s Dark One persona is modeled after Malcolm? You have the laugh, the speech mannerisms, and even some of the Dark One’s outfits are similar to Malcolm’s. My hypothesis is that Rumple did this because he wants the Dark One to resemble the thing he fears most.

Am I the only person who realized that Rumpelstiltskin might have gotten his high pitched giggle from his father?

Nope.  Myself and others noticed too. Here’s another creepy similarity between Rumple and Pan/Malcolm…both of them have contemplated with the idea of killing Henry for the sake of self preservation. Rumple attempted it as a way to cheat faith, and Pan is doing so to keep himself young and immortal. Of course Rumple differs from Pan in that he has put his temptation for self preservation aside for the sake of protecting his grandson and honoring Baelfire. Rumple is showing signs of change and redemption, while his father continues his own “nasty habits.”

The twist was interesting, and they did a great job pulling it off. I am intrigued when Adam and Eddy changed their plans for Malcolm, as they had written an alternate story showing Malcolm abandoning Rumple and getting killed that was cut from “Manhattan.” That also means they might have had different plans for Pan initially, but then decided add the twist. Maybe the original plan for Malcolm just wasn’t dramatic enough for them, so they changed it up. I did love all of the parallels between Malcolm/Rumple’s story to Rumple/Bae’s. You had the bean portal, both dads being frowned upon by society, both dads chosing something selfish over their own son, and both dads saying “I will find a way.” No wonder Rumple was so scared to go with Bae into the portal, as the last time resulted in losing his father. I will say Rumple was still overall a better dad to Bae, as he regretted letting go of him the second he left and he made it his mission in life to seek him out. Malcolm on the other hand intentionally let Rumple go because he viewed him as nothing but an anchor to his selfish dreams. Knowing this backstory really makes Rumple much more of a sympathetic character, and this episode really showed him being noble for the sake of saving his grandson.

I believe this theory might have been mentioned somewhere, but what if Pan and Malcolm are one and the same, but at the same time they’re not? Let me explain. What if who we know as Pan is really the essence of the darkest evil that was originally trapped within Pandora’s box and it in turn possessed Malcolm and took on the form of a boy? Malcolm’s body is merely a vessel, and Pan has retained all of Malcolm’s memories. I do think the name “Pan” being a part of “Pandora’s Box” is no coincidence. Perhaps Hooks comment “He may look like a boy, but he’s a bloody demon” is not far off from the truth. This would really explain why Pan is as powerful as he is.

This reminds me of the main antagonist of Kingdom Hearts, which itself is a Disney crossover video game franchise. The main villain of the series is named Master Xehanort, a wicked keyblade master who embraces the darkness. In the prequel game “Birth By Sleep”, Xehanort turns traitor on everybody and one thing he ends up doing is possessing the body of a stronger and younger keyblade master named Terra. He changes the appearance Terra’s body and gains full control over it completely, while Terra’s original essence remains prisoner.

TeamBrothers is falling down the deep dark pit to Tatatus. This interview just about covers the Pandy theory floating out there.

It is  looking more and more likely to join NealfirePan and Hookriel down there. =p

The shots of Tremaine and her daughters aren’t completely clear, and don’t forget recasting isn’t a new thing. We went through recasting with Robin Hood already, and it’s not out of the question to recast roles that only appeared for a few brief seconds.

Even through I will hate Rumple’s father from reading the article. I can’t wait to see him and young Rumple. Because this has been the story line that I’ve been waiting for since the first season. Now, I’m curious about who his mother is and where is she.

Maybe Rumple’s mom died in child birth, and that could be a reason why Malcolm isn’t fond of Rumple? He would blame Rumple for the death of his wife.

“The father only cares about himself, and he’s a selfish guy. Rumple’s father has the gift of the gab. He’s certainly a gregarious kind of guy; friends of everyone and probably no one. He’s a trickster. He’s a hopeless gambler. So he’s really not someone who is usually fitted for parenting.”

Sounds a lot like Peter Pan, doesn’t it?
