And with the latest set pics out it turns out I did predict Phillip, Mulan and Aurora re-appearing for the finale. 😀
The sites claiming Once is locked for renewal are only predicting it will be based on a cancel/renewal index. These are simply estimations not and not an official confirmation from ABC that we’re getting a Season 3. We all know it will happen, but that by no means confirms it. We likely won’t get an official announcement until May, when ABC has their upfronts. Once Season 2 was announced around that time frame last year, too.
I totally called that Mulan, Aurora, and Phillip’s storyline would be resolved in the Season finale a while back. A lot of fans didn’t think the same, because they felt it would be too tough to squeeze that in like that. I knew because their storyline opened up the Season and it only makes sense to bookend the Season. Adam & Eddy did say that the whole Season would connect and make more sense by the time it is all said and done.

I now suspect that this isn’t a full out recast, and just a body double. Since Mulan’s face is covered, they could get away with having Jamie dub over any of Mulan’s dialogue like Barbara Hershey did for the Queen of Hearts in “Hat Trick.”
Definitely think Jamie Chung has a body double for these scenes. Notice all of the set photos of Mulan have her wearing that helmet. Jamie may not have been able to make it to the set in person, and she could record her voice over the footage. It would be like what Barbara Hershey did in “Hat Trick”, where the Queen of Hearts was a concealed body double, but that was her voice.
Actually, I think the episodes occur around their respective airdates. Several episodes have suggested this. Emma’s 29th birthday would have already past. I think Emma was really 17 going on 18 (not YET 18) when she had Henry, and the writers made a mathematical error. If this is true, Henry's birthday would be in April and it would be his 12th. “Lacey” airs on April 21st.

Looking at Mulan closely in that photo, it doesn’t even seem to look like Jamie. Perhaps Mulan’s role is limited, and only a body double was needed. Jamie’s schedule lately could have been a conflict, so they maybe she was recast. Although, Adam & Eddy said they had no intentions of recasting people….
