I think I understand medchen ๐ Neal’s scene was different because it was set in the “real world” as oppose to Storybrooke. Right now we are seeing fairy tale characters from a world with their own set of rules. It will be interesting to see how much of the real world comes into play as the series goes on. You’re bang on about a story within a story with a story. First story is the Enchanted Forest where everyone is already scripted. Second story is Reggie’s cursed world of Storybrook where she has scripted everyone. Third story is Storybrook, post curse, meshing with the real world and what’s left of the Enchanted Forest. Here, everyone has free will. It’s a new story, a blank page, where everyone gets to write their own story.
Oh yaeh! actually didn’t even think of it that literally, but you’re right.
About the free will- Yes but they dont have that yet really do they ? They are all still pretty much set in their own respective arctypes- The princess- The prince- The evil queen- The savior
Quote from this episode “We all know who you are Regina and who you are always going to be” or something like that, Emma said to Regina when she thinks Regina killed Archie. She’s the evil queen- ergo- she’s always going to be evil.[adrotate group="5"]January 7, 2013 at 6:17 pm in reply to: THE CRICKET GAME : FAVORITE AND LEAST FAVORITE MOMENTS #167338Grimmsister

………………. this isn’t real life, it’s a fantasy show. I mean seriously, we have an Evil Queen who is responsible for murdering numerous people, who brokered a baby through Rumplestiltskin and who enacted the dark curse and we’re suppose to compare her to a real life adoptive mom? She’s the Evil Queen! ๐ ๐ ๐
What I keep trying to say is let’s leave the real world out of this. It’s suppose to be a fantasy story. Let’s have fun theorizing and waiting to see what comes next but for goodness sake, let’s be rational & sensible here. We can’t bash characters based on what happens in the real world when SB and FTL isn’t anything like it nor do either play by the same laws or rules. Come on now, we are talking about a town where Dr. Frankenstein resides and practices medicine, Ruby the werewolf works at the local diner, Maleficent, the evil sorceress, resides beneath the town library and we’ve got a live wooden puppet hiding out somewhere. Let’s get some perspective here and leave the heavy “real life” stuff out of the equation.
Something about this is very intriguing. For a while I’ve been wondering if the writers where going to take it to that level and make it kind of a metanarrative or what’s the word ? a story, about a story, about a story… Anyone know the novel ‘Sophie’s World’ ?? I read it as a young teen and this story makes you almost start to believe Sophie is a real person and that she is going to jump out of the book on next page. They sort of touched on that notion in ‘A Neverending Story’, as a nother example..
Anyway back to Once- For a while I believed they were going to do that. Set the Fairytalecharacters free, so to speak… To take Evil Queen as an example: In fairytales, who is always, with out a doubt the bad guy? -Evil Queen, ofcourse. This is because she is written, narrated, etc that way always. It’s her destiny and nothing can change it. Because she herself has no say in it, no way to make a different choice, she is a character in a story- somebody else is pulling the strings…. But if she was somehow to be set free in the real world, via a curse perhabs ๐ she was free of those strings and could then make her own choices. This is to some extend what they are already doing with the show, but I believe they could delve in to it much more- this would be very very interesting I think..
They also touch on it a bit with Neal in his appartment and walking the streets of New York, this scene had a completely different feel to it and fooled a lot of us into thinking we where watching the wrong show. When you think about it Neal Emma and Henry so far are the only characters to have been in the ‘real world’ because Storybrook is still within that boundary curse and somewhat still a fairytale world.I know that really had nothing to do with your initial conversation ๐ but that is what it made me think about.

ParticipantEverything about this episode was a least favorite moment for me.
Not because I didn’t like the story, not that I didn’t find the acting as brilliant as ever, but just ’cause it was so so sad.I did very much love that Pongo had some screen action, how ever brief, more of that please ๐ and the way they’ve chosen to use the dreamcatcher, connecting dreams, memories, storytelling…
LOVE IT- I hope they will explore those ideas more, very intrigued at where they might take it.Grimmsister
ParticipantMy initial reaction- BUuHUuHUUUuu!! sob sob! ๐ฅ
We knew this would happen Regina pushed slowly deeper and deeper in to the evil claws of Cora.
But i’ts sooo heartbreaking to watch..
Yes, she has done bad things, she does not deserve this though. Now she is completely alone- No Henry- No one even remotely on her side. She thinks she can never be anybody but the evil queen-
quote Emma;”We know who you are and who you will always be” ๐ฅBut I do understand Emmas reaction to the dreamcatcher vision. Ofcourse she must do what she can to protect Henry. I only wish she realises the mistake sometime soon- probably will not though.
All the fault is with the evil, evil, manipulative string pulling trio of Cora, Rumple and Blue Fairy ๐ฟ (‘course not, just very mad at them right now)
More on the smiley side. So glad Archie isn’t dead ๐ Wonder who is ??? ๐

ParticipantI love this promo. Can’t wait, this break has been far to long already.
So the dream catcher is going to be used as a ‘memory catcher’ on the dog Pongo? wonder who shows Emma how to do that or if she figures it out herself..
What happens to poor Archie ? ๐ฎ
They try to execute the Evil Queen ๐ฎ obviously they don’t succeed. That scene seems remenicent of the pilot where the Evil Queen walks in on Snow and Charmings weding, Snow throws a sword at her and she disappears in purple smoke. Wonder if she’s going to do this here or mayby Rumple makes that happen ?
Blue Fairy starts to use her magic abilities in Storybrook ๐ฎOh ! can not wait any longer….!!!!!

Participant“Superior: Everyone. A portal is opening outside the borders.
Gold: A portal? It’s Bae.
Belle: Your son?
Gold: Yes. I can sense it. I have to go outside.
Belle: But, Rumplestiltskin, you know what happens if you leave….”This part made me read this as if it was an opera I was watching ๐ With all characters on the sideline singing as the chorus -“A portal is opening outside the borders”
And then Rumple and Belle in the middle singing the other lines ๐It was prettu funny to see them like that, so thanks for that ๐
But towards the end it got a little to ‘friendly, all hugs and kisses and forgiveness’..like.
But that’s just my taste.December 21, 2012 at 6:34 am in reply to: WHAT OTHER FAIRY TALE CHARACTERS YOU WOULD LIKE TO SEE … #165758Grimmsister
ParticipantOkay Nonnie. Thank you ๐
I like that idea!
Not sure I believe it but I like it ๐Grimmsister
ParticipantAesop-
‘The boy who cried wolf’ is one of the storyteller Aesops fables. Is this intentional on your part ?
Because then I actually think it is pretty funny ๐
Or are you just genuinly very concerned for Hook ? -
