After seeing the ep a second time I think I can respect or accept the way they did this Mirrorland. At first I also thought it seemed too easy, like they only touched the surface of what they could have done with that place ’pun intended’. But I think it had its cool elements. And as it is with so many things on this show, they DOO only want to stay on the surface with it and play around for an hour before they move on….. I guess they like skating.
But I still think they should have played up the “I will be you mirror” part a lot more they could have done that without changing the episode much. They should have really had Emma and Regina speak some truths about each other.
Like, I would have loved for Regina to really go in on this thing with Emma and her death visions. She is always talking about her imminent death. Instead Regina should have told her something like- Girlfriend, why don’t you fight it? You aint dead yet.. If you are a hero, then you don’t throw in the towel …especially with our son standing right there watching and hearing you. I don’t think Regina would like the fact that Emma practically said her goodbyes to him already, its to early for goodbyes. Emma needs to let Henry see that she will fight this till the end.
Emma should have told Regina that she sees, Regina is still scared that she doesnt deserve happiness, because she doesn’t believe she deserves to be forgiven. And that this is why she cant ever have it.
They could have played this up with the other characters as well, like Henry vs Violet etc.

I would have liked Mirrorland to look different too. It could actually be fun to hear how everyone imagines Mirrorland to look.
So please if you have any ideas write them down 🙂
Lets play “My Mirrorland”
I imagine it like this: Once Emma wakes up after having been sucked into the mirror, she wakes up in a dark room. There are many shards of glass and broken mirrors on the floor all around. She notices that there are windows all around and lots of mirrors on the walls. A faint light comes in through the windows and outside she sees many flickering small lights in the horizon like little candles being turned on and off. Now a light is turned on in the room next to her and when she walks in, the room is lit and she is in Granny’s diner. She sees Granny standing there, looking in a mirror. She runs to her,, but Granny doesn’t see her and Emma notices, that her own reflection is not in the mirror next to Granny’s reflection. Now Regina comes in and explains that this is because they are not on that side anymore, they are only on the other side of the mirror…in Mirrorland (or whatever the name may be)
(sidenote: Also, this place should be crawling with little black rats, with no eyes, making horrible screetching noises, but that would maybe be too scary for a family show. Of course one of them could be in the kitchen cooking, as a nod to Ratatouille…kidding)…. Now, when Granny finished looking in the mirror, the room would go dark again and it wasn’t Granny’s diner anymore either, but just a room with no furniture only walls, windows, mirrors and pieces of glass on the floor.
Emma and Regina would now discover that there were many more rooms with many mirrors. There would be stairs going up and down to more rooms, but no way out of this “building” or place. They would now, by chance- good luck and plot twist- see a light switch on in one room and when they walk in, they see Henry. He is in his own room at Regina’s house getting ready for his date. Now pretty much the same scene goes down, as it did in the episode, with them banging on the mirror- Evil Queen walking in etc… But in my version they will discover that they can make the sunlight reflect in the little shards of glass laying on the floor and if they position enough of them in the right spot they can “catch” the image from the other side, there bye, when Henry goes away from the mirror, the rooms are still connected (get my point?). So when Henry comes back home, they will still be in that same mirror.
(Side note: Granny would see herself looking good in the mirror and like a young version of herself and that would also be what “the Granny” on this side of the mirror would look like to Emma and Regina. The dwarf (I don’t remember who he is, is it Sneazy?) would look like a hunk.. and Henry, who in this moment was very unsure of himself and scared, would look more scared on this side, then on the other and with lots of zits)
Now the dragon comes and that whole thing goes down, with the fighting, the dragon, the hammer… only Henry doesn’t smash the mirror, but persuades the Evil Queen to stop. He puts the hammer on the floor- takes the heart and gives it to her- says something like “This is your choice. This is how sure I AM, that You wont make the choice that will kill yourself” he then gives her that whole- You will always be alone speech, he gave her in the episode, but he ends with “It doesn’t have to be that way” Evil Queen looks hurt and angry at him, tells him maybe he will always be a scared little boy, but then she stops the dragon just in time and poofs away, taking the dragons heart with her.
Now, I think Henry summons the help of the Storybrookers and Belle,, with her books, helps to figure out the way out of the mirror. And I think the way out of the mirror, should have been Emma and Regina daring to speak aloud some truth about themselves, that they had never revealed to anyone, perhaps even to themselves- Those truths, should be something following what they had both said about each other earlier.. – and as they spoke the truth, their reflections would appear in the mirror (because they would now be able to see what they didn’t see before… get my point?)..and when they then touched the mirror with their hands- Abra Cadabra Wooosh! the camera angle would switch from one side of the mirror (Mirrorland) to the other (right) side.
Other side note: This Mirrorland would not be where Sidney had been. He had been caught on the surface of mirrors and this is the actual “other side of the mirrors”
What do you guys think of my version?? Please do say if you see anything about this that wouldn’t work, or if you have any questions as to how it works. I will see if I have an answer, or maybe there was something I hadn’t thought about.
Looking very uch forward to your replies and ideas for Mirrorland… 🙂
[adrotate group="5"]GrimmsisterParticipantI dont even care about the fairies any more, they are just there as background. After never getting Blue as the Big Bad Menace of everything she just became a deflated hot air ballon to me.
I think the shoes of dead/passed out person, belong to Black Fairy.

No worries 🙂
timespacer “If you mean “who is she?” in the literal sense, we saw in the last season finale that she is really Hello Central, the daughter of A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur’s Court.”
Oh really. Im not familiar with that story. Thanks for the answer. I also meant the question as for who she is like, can Henry trust her? I dont know why I suddently got suspecious of her last ep…. but maybe its just because now that he is in love, surely something bad is going to happen to him.
Which brings me to a nother question. On a podcast I heard the theory that perhabs Evil Queen will take Violets heart and crush it. Like Cora did to Daniel when Regina was young.. They had that thought because of how much Evil Queen reminded of Cora in the scenes with Evil Queen and Henry. How do you guys feel about that? You think it could happen??
I dont think she will actually get to crushing Violets heart. But the threat of it could arise.

He knows. I think that in the scene where EQ gives him the hammer, he does say to her something like “Why are you doing this, it will kill you too” and Evil queen says, its becase she is certain that Henry will make the right choice,,, So she was just so sure that he would kill the dragon, that she wasnt worried about her own life.
GrimmsisterParticipantMaybe Henry can use this hammer to make some thingymabob that can trap Evil Queen. Because, as I just read on line, thats what Hepheastus did to his mother Hera (who we know was greek myth’s version of Evil Queen) He build her a golden chair which she became bound to and only he could free her. I would love them to use this story on Once, now that they brought in that particular hammer.

Following social media / forums / podcast the audience has no patience …………..3: I think this is the last season for ONCE. WE will be looking for a new show to watch at 8 pm in the future. . .Quote
1: Nonnie, the names’s GrimmSIStr 😉
2: I agree. This is the problem for a lot of shows and, hate to say it guys, but especially the American ones. But thats only because you guys are further ahead of us on the social media front. We will also get there, and I believe this stuff is screwing with our human mind.. pretty soon we will all be robots…. I kid… but its true though.
3: Im hoping for a season 7 and then for it to end. Because 7 is the magic fairytale number and that would be perfect for this show…plus Im not totally ready for the story to end yet.. Im going to miss it 🙁 flaws and all.

It didn’t live up to my expectations. But all in all it was still pretty good.. Good character moments and excitement about that whole mirror trap ordeal. I’ll give it a 7/10
Likes:
1: Regina and Emma’s friendship: I always like when they work together. Womanpower! (cause they aint girls) I liked their parenting talk, it was sweet. Regina admitting that she was afraid to raise Henry alone and Emma getting her hopes or her fighting will back and saying we will do it together… That was all the sweet! And nice symbolism, in that, they were each other’s mirrors. They needed each other’s perspective to see what was good about themselves, but the writing should have dwelled on this a bit more and made that point more clear to the audients I think, because that was a really important lesson…At night when Regina and Emma was watching Henry, there was a follow up on the talk, with Regina saying she didn’t realize Henry was so strong and that they didn’t need to worry about him (she used other words) Emma saying he will be alright, even without her, because they both raised him well… That was sweet but the only minus I have for that is: didn’t that sort of take back all the progress the trapping behind the mirror was about??…:
I liked very much how many of the characters were each other’s mirrors. Emma/Regina. Henry/Violet. Evil Queen/Emma-Regina-Henry, even Zelena/Belle in a way.
2: The Rumple and Evil Queen “thing”: Sometimes it’s hard to look at. They are obviously deliberately trying to make us all cringe over this. But that’s also why it’s so good. And everyone is wondering what’s the what with all this. Like what in Merlin’s name are they getting out of it??? In one clip I think it’s all a power trip.. The next clip I think– Hey! is the Queen actually enjoying this? And Rumple… well he is just kind of stoneface about the whole thing.
3: Evil Queen: She is an enigma. Does she feel love for Henry? Does she feel love or some kind of compassion for her sister Zelena? and will she kill her? We already know she is capable of killing what she loves. What is it that she wants? She says she wants a beginning- I like that. She is not fully her own person, not fully alive, until she cuts whatever her ties are to Regina.
4: Henry: He was sweet and his thing with Violet is cute. He made all the right choices this ep, but I wonder if its gonna last, or will he be Darth Wadered?
5: Zelena: I liked her this episode, with her smirking over Rumple, she is so wickedly sarcastic and fun.
6: Mushu: I did simply LOVE the beautiful dragon.. it was a real Chinese one. This is how real dragons look like.
edit: 7: Uh I almost forgot. The Charmings.. They were sweetness. And that song that played during the montage is my new favorite song.
Dislikes:
1: Mainly I was disappointed with how they created the Mirrorworld and how they got back out of there. They (storywriters)didn’t put much though into it. Okay so we got to see Sidney’s “house” that’s ..nice. One thing I did like about Mirrorworld was that it looked like a Salvador Dali painting.
The way out of the mirror was way too easy. I could easily think of more interesting ways. They should have gone deeper and explored what the metaphor of the mirror really means. They should have been more creative with the mechanics of the magic. Mirrors are, like dreams, a perfect opportunity for them to dig deep.. They missed it. Really, in my opinion, they should have let this story span two episodes, because they could have done so much more with it.
What was the point of putting them in the mirror in the first place? I mean for the storywriters? They could have had the same character moments any and everywhere.
Note to self:: Don’t get frustrated again with what the show isn’t doing, just see that which they give you.
2: Seriously what’s with all the death wishes among our favorite hero crew?? Last week, the Charmings were gonna sacrifice themselves and leave their family in the Queens mercy, when clearly they had other options.. This week, both Emma and Regina can’t jump over each other fast enough, to see who is gonna sacrifice themselves first? This is not very hero like.. So who is the real hero this season?
Questions I have following this episode:
Can or will Evil Queen Kill Zelena?
Who is the dragon’s daughter?
Who is Violet. She doesn’t need a label, ‘cause she’s Violet, but seriously…Who is she?
What’s Rumple up to? (This is every episodes question)
GrimmsisterParticipantOkay great! I learned something new, then I will write ‘dun’ everytime in the future 😉 Thanks.
GrimmsisterParticipantRumplesgirl are you here? Who changed my text to say- Dang! ??? When all I wrote was what was supposed to be a harmless menacing drum beat- (dam dam dammm)
Anyway I changed it back 😉 because menacing drum beats are allowed right?
GrimmsisterParticipantUh another thing too: In a different thread I said I hoped that the sleeping curse on the Charmings would be lifted by them sharing a true love’s kiss inside one of their shared dreams.
I think that in a future episode we will see this shared dream of the Charmings and it will be a dream of a memory from their past where Snow is too proud to be with Charming and where charming David shows his prejudice against princess Snow. This situation is something they both remember and both regret. When you are under this form of sleeping curse, you are in a place with “Dreams formed of your own regrets”.. Quote of The Evil Queen from season 1 episode 21 ‘An Apple red as Blood’
In this dream they will realise their own mistakes, forgive each other and kiss. That is what will break their sleeping curse.
Why do I think this?- Because the name of the town Longbourn is mentioned many times through last weeks episode “Heartless” Longbourn is the fictional town from the Jane Austen novel “Pride and Prejudice” in which the to main characters realise their love for each other as soon as they both overcome their feelings of respectively: Pride and Prejudice.
