Perfect! =]
Let’s admit it: if we all had the same opinions it would be a very boring forum!Sooo, let me bring another thing to the discussion:
I love Rumple’s character mostly because he seems to be ahead of everyone, or behind everything… whenever I’m really into the story, cheering for Emma to find out something, or happy ’cause something that I wanted to happen, happens, I always have this feeling that Rumple will show up and reveal he was behind it all along. So, it gives me this perpetual doubt about everyone else, if they are really getting somewhere, or if they’re just being puppets (and if I am being fooled, lead to believe on the motion of things!)So, I can’t decide if Rumple is:
1. the master of the game – he planned everything and is always playing people to get where/what he wants, and so, is even more powerful then we know.
2. just always ahead, since he lived trough so many years and have the magic, he just understand how people work and is extremely good at seeing where things are going to.
3. can actually predict the future.
what do you guys think???
Awesome! *HUGS* 😀 😀 😀
Hmm…at first, I thought Rumpel was able to see the future, but other posters have pointed out that good planning skills could easily be mistaken for fortune-telling. To us, it may appear that Rumpel can see into the future, but the reality of the matter could be that Rumpel is facilitating things to happen a certain way. So, whatever Rumpel “predicts” will happen, will happen. Not because it’s meant to happen, but because he’s secretly facilitating it to happen. 😉
I do agree that Rumpel tends to be able to outsmart everyone, however, his judgement is easily clouded by emotional matters. The loss of Baelfire and Belle sent him over the deep end so to speak. So, as long as he’s able to keep his emotions under control, then he’ll come out as the winner. However, with the new development that both Baelfire and Belle are still alive, I doubt he’ll be able to hold onto his emotional and mental stability for much longer. 😯

I didn’t say it had to do with attraction. It is just that i think it is more acceptable for a man to be this evil character whereas with Regina it is unacceptable for whatever reason. I think it is just unacceptable in both cases. I wasn’t saying that you guys are sexist about this and it got really personal after that. That wasn’t what i meant. I just meant that i think it is generally more acceptable for a male character to be the hard evil character then a female character. I was comparing the two characters and not saying that is what any of you in particular think about the character.
I don’t think that Rumpel was born evil. I just think that what we have seen of him is evil. We definitely are talking in circles because it seems like some of the posters here think that he is doing it for his son is a good enough justification for what he has done and i don’t.
Well my post was taken way too personally and i took yours too personally so we have all been insulted most thoroughly and maybe can just move on from it.
*Takes Deep Breathe* I apologize too. Let’s just slowly back away from this particular topic. 😉

ParticipantDo things like race, gender and looks play into what an audience thinks of a particular character? Yes. But does it necessarily play into what WE think of the character? No. It would be different if we were mindless fangirls randomly screaming “I LOVE RUMPEL!” at every chance we got, but we’re not. 😆 Yes, he’s our favorite character, but we see past things like gender or sex appeal. Like the others have said, we’ve all participated in detailed discussions with one another about Rumpel. Each one of us offering sufficient evidence and examples to back up our separate cases. So, we’re not airhead fangirls without any clue of what’s happening on the show. We pay attention. We analyze. We participate in conversations with each other. Some with who agree with us, and some who don’t. So, to naturally assume that our opinions are based on gender is false. But like Beauty & the Beast said, still very interesting perspective. 😉

ParticipantYeah, and Belle’s not a tramp either. 😆

So, the dark curse was probably made to cross time and space as well…and to go to the exact precise time/location where Baelfire was deposited into…+28 years of frozen SB time ofcourse..which would make Bae currently 42.
I think Bae would age only if time is linear. Also, I suspect that the vortex exists outside of space and time, causing him to be “frozen.” So from Bae’s point of view he would have fallen through the vortex and seconds later ends up in current SB, without having aged at all.
I hope that made sense…
I hope you’re right. Time travel can cause a lot of confusion. The rules tend to be a little shifty. Besides, I want to see Baelfire either remain a child or be in his 20s or 30s.

ParticipantOoo! I like this theory! At first, I thought it was because David rejected her. I think this is the episode where Regina tries to seduce him. Maybe he turns her down and out of anger, she breaks the mirror. But I gotta be honest, I would much rather have your theory come true. Sydney’s very presence makes me sad and depressed.

I think there will always be evil, vengeful people around. Rumpel wouldn’t need to orchestrate events to create one. He just needed to gather all the elements for the curse and then look around to see who was evilest of all and manipulate them into using the curse.
I agree. I don’t think Rumpel orchestrated what happened to Regina, but I do think that he saw an open opportunity with her. He knew about her tragic past and he took advantage of that. The same goes for Malificent. Regina traded Rumpel’s curse for her sleeping curse. I think Rumpel would have been satisfied with Malificent casting the curse too, however, she changed her mind and decided against it. Rumpel probably would have given the curse to anyone with evil intentions. I wouldn’t be surprised if he offered the curse to Cora or the Queen of Hearts at one point.

Ok, did a quick recheck…I didn’t hear the blue fairy say time hole…but when Rumple is spinning his options with BF he mentions…relm jumper?, time tunnel?…curse?
So, maybe Rumple included a time tunnel formula in the dark curse.

Hmm…interesting. Thanks for that correction! 😀 Now I’m curious to know the year in which Storybrooke currently resides in.

Here’s the thing: Storybrooke has featured Jiminy Cricket prominently, Geppetto from time to time, and even someone we think could very well, somehow, have been Monstro (if a man can be turned into a cricket, why not a whale?). Meanwhile Pinocchio himself has been very oddly absent in Storybrooke … or has he? From the standpoint of putting together a complete story I don’t know why else Pinocchio would be missing unless there have been casting issues or he’s somewhere outside of Storybrooke for some other reason.
While watching the ep., as soon as Mother Superior said that he’d found his father but hadn’t spoken to him yet, I realized it was very likely not really Bae. I whispered to Dan that it could still go either way (Bae or Pinocchio) and he looked at me like I was crazy. 😉 I was right about the not-Bae part, but we’ll likely know in a few days about the rest!
I actually didn’t like the Pinocchio theory either, at first, but that’s largely because it’s not my favorite story. Someone earlier pointed out that they make the fairytales quite a bit more awesome, in general, so even if August is Pinocchio I’m sure we’ll enjoy the story.
Very good point. OUAT’s version fairytales tend to be all kinds of awesome. So, I’ll try to reserve judgment until the episode airs. 😉
