POM – That post just gave me a lot of Dread Pirate Roberts feels! Killian obviously has a lot more bad stuff going on than Westley ever did, but they’ve always based part of him on Westley and made blatant nods to it as well. And a pirate’s reputation DOES make it so they don’t have to do as much / hurt people. It reminded me very much of Princess Bride when you said that. (Colin even did the voice a bit in 2×04. Love PB nods!)
This is going to hurt for a bit but in the long-run only make them stronger. Villains try to keep TL couples apart all the time and CS has had more than any stand in the way.
Refreshing to see that Emma is finally letting go of the past. It’s been an albatross around her neck for basically her whole life and she’s finally to a point where she can she doesn’t want to live that way anymore and is letting people in. Her scenes with Charming were amazing and I love how close they are!
Stupid Zelena! The mirror gave me back HP flashbacks. If they had only checked the mirror first! It made it so much more heartbreaking, but at the same time, especially given his awful decision, it was nice to see him own up to it and how much it affected him. This was 9 months prior to showing up in NY so I can’t wait to see what happens in that time. It was nice to show him that what Zelena said was true, Ariel didn’t give up on her prince and actually found him, and I’m sure he’s relieved that he didn’t cost them their happiness after all (though it was good for his redemption arc to have to live with that for so long), but I’m sad that the real Ariel wasn’t the one who heard his heartfelt confession and doesn’t realize how much of an impact she had on him.
LOVE that Killian was in the background of the mirror before Emma looked inside herself and gathered her strength to perform magic. Her magic is all about LOVE and shows her that love is strength, not weakness, as we’ve seen time and time again. Doesn’t hurt that they showed a TL couple before the mirror morphed into showing another TL couple! Loved seeing Ariel & Eric so happy but it makes me sad too – I feel like we won’t get to see them again (unless someone goes to rescue them and brings them back for whatever reason) so they might be done. That said, I’m hoping that someday, even if it’s an end of the series wedding or something, that ALL the characters we know and love are in attendance (and a Disney princess/Disney couple line-up wouldn’t be bad either!) Really wanted more Gil though and we didn’t even get to hear him speak! They were pretty cute on the beach though so yay for that.
Man this episode was full of heartache. It gives me hope in the long run but pain right now for sure! Loved the family dinner and that Regina has fully become a part of the group and was included, but hurt so much watching Killian look in from the outside after being welcomed in, ESPECIALLY by Emma. SO PAINFUL!
Sorry but his behavior isn’t really creepy. If she’s actually interested and like it or not, she is, she doesn’t see it that way for 99% of what he does. So glad she’s finally opening up to him and is tired of living in the past. She’s been doing that for over a decade! We saw that she was almost ready to consider it a bit after the last time she thought Neal “died” and she was fine a few days later. Even now she’s not remotely acting like any of the other people who have lost their TLs. She got way more closure this time around, and is trusting herself more and more thanks to Killian, but as sad as she is that they lost Neal, she’s not mourning someone she is currently IN love with. She’s mourning an old friend who is the father of her child and someone she was once in love with and that’s a big difference. Sorry to be so harsh but it’s always been set up that a part of her will always love him but that doesn’t have to mean IN love with and she’s not acting that way, nor has she ever. Otherwise she definitely wouldn’t be encouraging Killian whatsoever as she knows how he feels about her. And she wouldn’t be able to smile as much as she has been either. It’s not OOC, it’s showing that she has closure and is letting herself move forward, something you just can’t do if the person you were in love with JUST died. I’m sorry if that’s harsh but that’s what’s being shown again and again and again.
CS isn’t out of thin air, or fanservice, and it hasn’t somehow changed drastically this season. We’ve been calling it for ages and they’ve stayed true to their vision on the big things. They said back in S2 that they knew where they wanted to end up and yes, who Emma ends up with. The day-to-day stuff may change here and there, but I’m pretty sure they didn’t build up CS to say no, she goes back to Neal, then decide to kill him off to please the fans which, guess what, NOBODY IS HAPPY ABOUT. Do you think we want to constantly hear how it’s only happening so CS can happen? It’s beyond insulting. Plus if they really wanted to make the story way more tragic, or throw a huge wrench in CS and make it have to wait forever even if they wanted to stay true to them ending up together, they COULD have built up a huge SF reunion, making his sacrifice even MORE tragic than it was, and then Emma would be closed off a few more seasons and THEN maybe you could have said it was only because he died that they’re happening…but that’s not remotely what has been written from the start. I’m SORRY but it’s not.
Can’t wait for Emma to FULLY open up about her feelings with EVERYONE. She stood up for Killian a lot this episode but she hasn’t let anyone in on the details of just how much she cares yet. That will be tested the remainder of the season. We also need to get Henry’s memories back. BUT I have faith that all of that will happen and then we’ll see where CS is. I would love for Henry to eventually talk to Emma about it and just want her to be happy, especially now that he fully understands the entire situation (or rather will once he gets his memories back). You can’t replace the people you lost but that doesn’t mean refusing to live your life either. How can we root for OQ if everyone should be miserable and nobody should have more than 1 love in their life? It’s BEAUTIFUL that they give hope to those who have lost. They’re not moving on RIGHT after they lost the person they were going to spend forever with. Regina’s been dealing with it forever, Robin lost Marian awhile ago + curse time, Hook spent hundreds of years getting over Milah and Emma’s had over a decade to deal with Neal not being in her life/her happy ending not being with him. These relationships aren’t sudden when these characters have been without REAL LOVE for a LONG TIME.
Explanations help with closure and they will definitely help Emma moving forward, but it’s like with some fans and the show / A&E right now -the explanations don’t erase the pain and the level of trust and love can’t easily be restored, if ever. It’s just the way it is.
Really hoping that Emma will make it clear that she always wanted to return his feelings but was too afraid. I think she’s going to have to help prove to Killian that he is worthy of love, just like he’s been doing with her. It can’t be one-sided and so far, he’s been trying to meet her much closer than halfway. Her feelings have been there the whole time and we saw how much she wanted to trust him on the beanstalk, but they’ve definitely been growing more and more since the end of S2 and I can’t wait for her to come clean on that. I think finally getting inside her head will go a long way for everyone, especially her loved ones.
I don’t really expect the fans to ever see it as something that was there all along and to each their own, regardless of how frustrating it is. It hurts to hear how the show has changed things this season to give us what we want, but I’m glad that we love the story they’re telling and have been telling all along. I just wish they were able to talk about it more! Hoping after S3 they can outright say they not only wanted him in S1 but it was always with this idea of the daughter of Snow White & Prince Charming ending up with a pirate. They were introduced as kindred spirits and we kept hearing that over and over again. All the parallels to Snowing, fitting perfectly into the OUAT/FT universe, epic lines, connection the characters have actually admitted they shared, proven declarations of feelings, countless villains trying to break them up because they’re a force to be reckoned with together and love is strength, etc etc etc can’t be wrong. Besides, we had Star Wars and Princess Bride stuff from the beginning and we know how much A&E love those! They’ve been hinting at it for agessssss and we’re finally seeing that it definitely is NOT one-sided. Like they said, it’s going to take a hook of steel to crack Emma’s walls and he’s finally doing that!
So bring on the pain and the angst…we’ll get there eventually! After everything they’ve setup from 2×04 to now, I just don’t see any other explanation. We’re closer than ever so have a little faith!

I hate Zelena more than ever. Not sure words can express what I’m feeling right now. Too tired and in pain and now added emotional trauma from the show.
I expected going in it would be painful but definitely was NOT expecting THAT! It’s part of his redemption & it’s important he acknowledged what he did and he’s realized he’ll never be that person again/can’t have that life again and is now fighting to be the man he wants to be / deserving of Emma’s love. BUT THIS IS PAINFUL!!!!
Ugh, I called that Zelena would impersonate someone but I was really expecting it to be Emma…this is even worse! And that curse! UGH. Emma is finally letting him in! She spent the whole episode talking about him in a positive way, and wanted him to join them and clearly didn’t understand that he wasn’t going to. He’s getting along so well with Henry now, and Charming and him are friends, and this is just awful!
(I have complete faith we’ll finish Zelena off in some way by the end of the season and that we’ll get a TLK for CS before it’s done. It just HURTS right now. On the bright side Emma is now more open and letting him in and might have to do a little persuing of her own but poor Killian!)
His redemption was never going to be easy and while I hate his decision (and the fact that the real Ariel never got hear his heartfelt confession), it was still a step forward for him in present day and the guilt from the past affects him like it should. He lucked out bigtime. So you wanted a slow burn? 2 steps forward, 1 step back on redemption and love for Killian. PAINFUL!
Ultimately it’s good for us even though (at least it seems for now) that their next kiss will have awful results. Why must every villain keep trying to tear them apart! He’ll likely stay away from Emma for a bit but if she just goes and plants one on him sometime it’s going to have consequences. She’s finally embracing her magic too! Sigh.
Loved a lot of the other stuff. Shadows on the sail, swordfighting, fighting to hold onto the only thing he has (and it’s still missing now and he’s not focused on that so I imagine he spent some time trying to make up for it pre-going to find Emma), but so so painful. The best moments were the family ones though. Loved Emma and Charming in their scenes together especially. (But Charming – no more letting the kid drive, ok? Thanks).
My Killian/CS heart is aching right now but I think it does set stuff up beautifully for the end of the season. Besides, he can’t be the only one fighting for them, it needs to go both ways. Emma is finally opening up to it but she also kind of expects him to be there and do whatever she wants for now. SO HAPPY that she decided to stop living in the past and letting herself trust again, but she can’t take him for granted either. So this is a good, but painful, thing. She brought him up the whole episode though. If it weren’t for stupid Zelena, grr!!! He would have been with everyone else at her request! And instead he had to hide his hook from Henry and turn down a dinner he was automatically expected to be going to, and was forced to the shadows instead.
*mutters to self* This is good for us eventually but painful right now. It will all work out eventually and it will be epic & beautiful. (Repeat x infinity)
I need the next episode pronto. Painful Killian or not. (On the bright side we were right – Killian centrics are painful but good for CS in the longrun).
*cookies for everyone* Stay strong guys. It was a rough week but I have faith. We knew there would always be obstacles but right now they’re both overcoming a lot of their PERSONAL obstacles/demons and that will ultimately just make them stronger down the road and make it that much better when they do get together, especially since they’ll likely both have to fight to make it happen!
After all, Snowing had King George do a very similar thing to Snow like Zelena did to Killian, just in a different ultimatum kind of way. And look how they turned out!

Yeah after looking over that article it does sound like it could have been written by any of us this week lol. I’m kind of reluctant to hang my hat on some of the claims but it’ll be great if they’re true.
Totally understandable. Especially given the fiasco that was the massive overhyping of 3×12. I love my ship and what we got but wish my expectations had been just a little bit lower to enjoy it more. Have a good feeling about this one but we’ll see!

Way to keep things upbeat in here guys! We have a lot of exciting stuff going on, even if we are being attacked/blamed for everything. Guess it’s easier to blame anything/anyone else than say “Maybe I was wrong” and look to figure out why. Tired of hearing how everything is fanservice and OOC when we’ve called a lot of it from the start, but whatever helps them I guess. It’s just frustrating and this week has been dreadful but I suppose that’s to be expected.Thank goodness for our safe haven so we can vent sometimes!
I don’t believe for a second that everyone will be miserable forever. That’s the beauty of things like CS & OQ who have both lost loves but are finding they don’t have to be alone. That IS hopeful! We’re in the middle of the story still. Have a little faith for the characters we have left! Can’t stand the idea that none of them can ever be happy now. It’s just way too depressing and goes against everything we’ve seen.
ON TO CS! (Hoping to just focus on this in the future. Tired of the drama and negative stuff affecting everything else! I just want to enjoy my ship!)

This ep is written by the same guy who wrote 1×13. Can’t wait to see all the parallels! Killian will definitely be hitting a few of the highlights of Snowing’s journey from “Not a day will go by…” to attempted TLK and eventually *FC* proven TL. Can’t wait to see him helping Ariel save Eric and find a renewed sense of purpose and drive to go get Emma! Hoping Ariel or Eric helps him somehow in the process like Abigail did with Charming.
Further thoughts on the Ariel/Eric stuff – would be a neat parallel if Eric were not only “trapped” on the JR but also somehow turned to stone (whether that’s present day or flashback not sure since I’m not convinced Blackbeard could do much. I only say this because Frederick was turned to gold and because in The Little Mermaid, Ariel encounters a statue of Eric. So it would be a parallel as well as a nod.
Magic lessons! Fully expect this to come back around to save Killian if not this episode then soonish. I definitely think Knight!Killian could be a part of it and it would be Emma’s turn to parallel Charming since he faced Siren!Snow in 1×13. I also thought perhaps that could be from a dream sequence but training is a possibility. We’ll see! Can’t wait to see what causes him to remove the mask!
Killian is watching Henry for at least a bit according to Emma, so not sure when Snowing takes over (pretty sure this is the episode with Henry driving the truck too) or why. Curious to see what happens though! LOVE that she asked Killian again AND said that he’s good with Henry and that Henry likes him! So glad they’re getting along. Killian treats him like a person rather than a kid and that helps a lot. CaptainCobra bonding is good for both of them for sure.
ZELENA: Step away from Killian! He was very emotional in that scene it seemed and I’m not sure if anybody else is nearby or not. Parallel wish – Zelena pretends to be Emma and goes to see him on the docks but he recognizes that it’s not her and she poofs back into herself before doing whatever to him. Regardless of how she ends up there, I have a feeling he’ll get emotional and try to lash out at her to stop her like he’s done in the past with others. She killed someone he cares about and others are in danger because of her so if he has a shot, he’ll at least try (and of course lose his sword in the process. =/) Hoping that whatever causes them to be there, that Emma shows up quickly to help. Bonus points if she FEELS that he’s in trouble, hopefully with Charming nearby so he “gets it” and they rush to the dock to save him, even if she’s not ready to admit what happened, leaving him clueless but grateful she showed up. I could see this happening at any point though really and we have a few question-mark eps before the season is over. We’ve been paralleling S1 Henry a lot and she wasn’t forced to truly confront her feelings until the end of the season so we’ll see. Love that Regina pointed out yet again that Hook has feelings for her though.
So overall no idea what else might be in store for us since we know a lot already, but I am really hoping Emma finds out answers this episode too. Hidden secrets has been holding her back I’m sure, and she needs to learn about his home being gone (and what better time to do that than in the episode about the Jolly Roger?) They’ve been saying all along that Emma will be making a choice about her future and finding her way “home” and Killian has now literally lost his home but doesn’t care because his home is Emma and it’s beautiful! Now we just need her to learn that! Thinking she will this episode though.
So I am cautiously optimistic about this episode. It seems really great already and I can’t wait to see how everything plays out. Emma will have to face her feelings eventually. Love that even at the end of last episode, Hook is pushing for Henry to get his memories back. I’m 99.99999% sure that Killian can leave SB and go with them to NY if he wanted to. If Emma is sure that Henry won’t get his memories back / is better off without them cause he was happy before, Killian could go with them (especially since he’s in good with Henry now. SO GLAD their bonding wasn’t about Emma though). But instead of just rushing off with this little family unit, he’s encouraging her to tell him everything. To get him to remember, to make sure he knows his father. After that there’s no way Henry would want to go anywhere, and Emma could stay with her family that she never wanted to be separated from in the first place. But right now she’s holding everyone at arm’s length because she feels like in order to do the best for Henry, she has to take him away again.
Killian caught up with her in NY. He didn’t have to bring her back but it was the right thing to do for her family. He wanted her to remember everything, not just him, and he could have easily just said he’d stay in NY for them to be together if she’d give him a chance or something but what is he doing? Fighting to help her save her family. Convincing her to tell Henry the truth so he’ll remember his father. I LOVE THAT KILLIAN IS DOING THIS.
It’s like when he didn’t take Pan’s deal to get off the island with Emma. She’s a package deal and whether she likes it or not, the package deal comes with more than just Henry. She’s got a town full of people who love her and are family she keeps getting separated from. Killian would have no competition for Emma and Henry’s time and affection if he just followed them to NY. Nobody there to try to time-share Henry, or want to spend time with Emma to make up for so much lost time, but he’s BEGGING HER TO TELL HENRY which ultimately = staying and is the right thing to do overall. Just like when it would have been easy to let Charming die (especially since Charming didn’t like him at the time and didn’t want him near Emma) and nobody would have been the wiser and he’d have Protective!Daddy!Charming out of his way to Emma, but he didn’t take that route. He’s doing things the RIGHT WAY and I love seeing that.
Emma brings out the good in him. I really would not be surprised if by the end of the season he really is back to being Killian. He’ll always have a little Hook flair to him, and it’s the mask he hides behind, but he’s becoming more and more the good man he used to be.
Not sure what to make of the season finale stuff other than the costume department is trying to make us all faint with the gorgeous Darcy-esque costume he’s wearing but it does appear like he has two hands which depending on which theory you go for makes sense. I would really love it if Rumple gave him back his hand as it would be a sign they finally made peace and put it behind them 110%. With Emma learning magic, by season’s end she could literally and figuratively make Killian whole again. How beautiful is that?!? Also we would have called it allll the way back in The Doctor! I could totally see the promo being something like “no more Captain Hook” and then have him just be Killian full-time then to most people anyway. I think he’s enjoyed hearing it lately too. He relies on the Hook as part of his identity but again, it’s the mask he wears. Can’t wait to see what happens with all of this! He’s already being called Killian a lot and wearing the fake-hand more and more.
Speaking of mask….KNIGHT!KILLIAN *swoon* – I don’t care if this is one of her dreams, or part of her training. I’ll take our lovable scoundrel anyway we can get him but this is a nice change, though likely only for a short scene. Bonus points if Emma enjoys seeing him as a knight/it makes her view him differently. She keeps trying to pigeon-hole him as a pirate but I really think the version of “knight in shining armor” that Emma needs, other than her father, is her pirate. 😉 Also ….NURSERY DOLLS. Her literal knight in shining armor might just be the navy lieutenat cause let’s face it….Emma’s not exactly a typical princess to begin with, right? Massive swooning is sure to comment the rest of this season with Killian’s wardrobe swaps for sure. Not that I don’t love the leather… 😉 (Though I’d also love it if he changed and started wearing jeans and plaid too lol)

Love your post @Obisgirl & completely agree! His progression has been moving along nicely and based on the press release it really seems like 3×17 could…
not only fill in the gaps for the last year but really show how emotionally invested he is in Emma. It will be heartbreaking to watch earlier on I’m sure but I completely think it’ll be his version of What Happened to Frederick and it is likely in this episode that we’ll see what gave him the momentum to get to Emma and believe so strongly that they are TL, enough to try TLK to break her memory curse. Funny how that’s basically what Charming had to do with Snow after his version of that episode….
PR was SO MUCH BETTER than the promo voiceover which makes me want to throw something. Stop implying that he’s this ladies man in present day & making Emma seem unspecial. She is EVERYTHING to him. Whether he gave up the Jolly Roger willingly or not, it’s no longer his priority & it sounds like he’ll only be going back to it at all to help Ariel rescue Eric. It WAS his home, his everything and now it seems meaningless and he no longer cares. Why? He’s not that man anymore. He’s not the pirate he once was. He has been irrevocably changed by his love for Emma and that old life just isn’t good enough anymore which is what Emma will (hopefully this episode) come around to seeing about her life in NY. It was “good” ….when she didn’t know what her real life was. Yes her real life is MESSY and HEARTBREAKING and DANGEROUS but it’s real and now that she knows about that, NY will NEVER be the same for her, just like being back in the EF and with his crew isn’t the same for Hook now. CAN’T WAIT. (And now I’m having a major need to rewatch 1×13 before Sunday.)
So many good but subtle things lately that are building toward something amazing. Can’t wait to see it play out! Can it please be Sunday now??

This is SO MUCH BETTER than the voiceover on the promo (which has gotten progressively worse this season) and was vastly misleading based on what’s in the press release / common sense based on character progression so far.
Sounds like this will be Hook’s version of what Charming went through in What Happened to Frederick? (Helping Ariel & Eric reunite like Charming did with Abigail & Frederick before going off in search of Snow, or in this case Emma. I <3 parallels).
LOVE that we'll get to see Hook and Ariel sharing some screentime. Always nice to have her interact with more people and I like the idea that Hook will be helping her in some way (and it sounds like she'll be helping him too in relation to the ship/Blackbeard!) Perhaps he will finally make peace with mermaids since he seemed to have an issue with them at the beginning of the season. *Hoping she urges him to go find Emma like Abigail was supportive of David when this mission is over* (Also major yay for seeing Eric again. Gil McKinney is awesome and we don't get enough Ariel/Eric)
We know there's the scene with Zelena so obviously it connects, they're just not giving that away in the press release. This ep is filling in what happened over the last year with Hook since that's been a mystery this half-season so I'm sure there's more to it than just helping Ariel. (As for helping someone not related to Emma - yay but it's hard to find people who aren't. 😉 But I am happy about that!)
Poor Snowing. They just don't know how to connect to this version of Henry yet and compared to boating/star-gazing/stories of his dad of COURSE they're boring to him. Poor kid was playing a video game while MM was reading a book on parenting the last time one of them babysat him - not the most exciting time. He needs to get his memories back already! Hook's making a start in trying to convince Emma of that which is good but it needs to happen soon. *Fingers crossed*
Promos & PR's are often missing a lot of stuff or are misdirects so I'm sure there's lots more going on than we know yet, ESPECIALLY regarding Zelena. Can't wait to see what happens and how it all connects! Headcanons are fun and we've all been filling in the gaps differently so it'll be nice to finally have some answers! (And there's gotta be way more going on in SB than just Snowing/Henry & Emma learning magic from Regina. Can't wait!)

Hey guys! Sorry I haven’t been posting as much (super busy).
We may not have gotten a ton but what little we did was great! (Like Charming says you have to look for the GOOD moments and while it wasn’t one of my favorite eps overall, I think in a marathon it’ll fit in better later on).
That opening scene was so heartbreaking! It’s definitely following the theme of 3B so far about Charming missing out on big moments of Emma’s life and, since she was wearing white and hasn’t been to any balls or weddings, a subtle reminder of Emma wanting to move forward with her life and have someone to share it with her (and Henry). Yes it was only a ball in the dream but she was in a white dress and it really hit home with the Daddy!Charming feels because he HAS missed out on basically everything (though not first ball since Emma hasn’t gone to one yet) and brought back to mind Charming’s reaction to Hook saying Emma was about to marry someone because that’s basically the only big step that Charming has left to maybe not miss out on right now.Whether it ends up being part of the wedding spoiler for the end of the season which frankly, right now for me is a toss-up because I have clear & plausible headcanons for RumBelle, CaptainSwan, and OutlawQueen and will be happy with any because I love all three pairings, or not, it still brings home the idea that Emma DOES want to move forward with her life and have someone to share it with and a father-figure for Henry and that she is way more open to it now than she has been so regardless of if it’s a wedding this season or not, it is VERY positive CaptainSwan development for the future – though it does seem a bit foreshadowy that they’re reminding us so much that Emma wants this – even so far as having Henry tell Regina all about Walsh and again, wanting Emma to be happy. That said other couples have foreshadowy moments like “Mrs. Gold” too so we’ll see! I would have said RB for sure before 3B started so depends on what happens from here on out. I’m not *expecting* a CS wedding but Emma is DEFINITELY moving in that direction and it’s now a constant reminder that she does want that in her life, she just doesn’t think she can have that and Hook will be out to prove her wrong!I really think Henry will be more open to Hook than a lot of people seem to think – especially since Henry now knows what Emma went through and is more understanding of it. Now to get his memories back for the full story and *fingers crossed* he’s still understanding & just wants the best for Emma but I think he will! LOL at Regina’s comment about more family than he’ll know what to do with cause that couldn’t be more accurate!)
SO HAPPY that they played the music over the biggest CS scene. I love when the couple’s themes swell like that to show it is a GOOD and ROMANTIC moment, even if it may seem different at first to some who are intent on hating Hook even when he tries to be supportive. Emma realized that and the sincerity of the moment after she questioned his original statement and if she’s not upset and hurting over it – just like she made it CRYSTAL CLEAR she thanked him long before going in for the kiss – then we shouldn’t be upset either (whereas she still clearly has some issues with past men in her life and she DOES have her memories now and still compared Walsh to her past where she IS clearly upset about what just happened in her life since she really was in love with him & thinking of marrying him.)
Hook even started that *apparently controversial* moment off by saying “Don’t take this the wrong way” and she called him on what some obviously thought he was doing in “celebrating” or being “happy” her heart was broken which gave him a chance to further explain himself. IT WAS A GOOD THING and he was being supportive of her not shutting herself off completely just because yet again a guy wasn’t who he presented himself as to her. It’s also one of the GREAT things about CS because Hook is who he says and doesn’t hide the bad stuff or pretend it’s not there. It was VERY SIMILAR to Snow’s conversation with Regina when telling her to hold onto her heart rather than burying it – yes it hurts now but someday it will get better and you will love again if you open yourself up to it. The music over the top of the big CS scene was icing on the cake.
We’ve seen him hold things back until he can verify them so as not to hurt her before (think: Pan telling him Neal was alive) so until we see exactly how the last year went down there’s no reason to think it’s anything bad – remember “Believe a pirate can be a hero” and hello, he wouldn’t do anything purposefully to hurt her or her family. He keeps RESCUING THEM.) One of the things I really loved about 3A was how clear Hook made it that he knows who Emma is but wants to know even more (direct contrast to “If I knew who you were I never would have gone near you” and now with her pointing out that Walsh, like Neal wasn’t who she thought he was when they were together and disappointed her. In fact we saw Walsh promise her the world just as much as Neal did and she got hurt, again.) Ultimately she already CHOSE HOOK when she drank that potion in NY – even acknowledging at the time that doing so would mean walking away from that perfect life which included Walsh who she went and said NO to. She clearly HASN’T shut Hook down at all even though he does keep sincerely making sure she knows his feelings. He’s being supportive and he knows when to be more persistent (which she NEEDS her pursuer to be) and when to give her some space. She walked off when it got to be too much (like she always does and he KNOWS THAT because he reads her so well), and he just followed along to help with the mission and left it at that for now. THIS IS HOW THEY OPERATE. THEY UNDERSTAND EACH OTHER. HE IS NOT MAKING HER MISERABLE. She has lots of things going on right now and is conflicted about a LOT of stuff that is happening but she’s not telling him no chance either. AT ALL.
Next week looks intense! Regardless of what happens with that evil spoiler hanging over our heads which looks like it actually might be next week, I’m very very curious about what is going on! I’m happy for more Neal and Belle screentime – and seriously YAY for Hook & Belle in the shop together!!! I really want a POSITIVE scene with them obviously getting along and working together to show that there’s no hard feelings there anymore. Again – if the characters aren’t upset about something, we shouldn’t be. We’ve seen times where characters (like Regina) say they haven’t forgotten something just because they’re on the same side now, but if Regina can be a part of the “family” now, then Hook can too and I really want him and Belle to get along! Also – especially if this IS the big thing the fandom has been dreading, I need there to be an honest conversation from Neal where it reiterates that he knows why she didn’t show up at the diner etc, and that Henry is the only good thing between them but that’s enough. (And acknowledging past mistakes would be good as well. If this IS his big death episode I expect it to be in a somewhat heroic fashion and make him more redeemable but I would really love if that included laying everything on the line and making it all crystal clear. They’ve been setting it up all season and trying to drill it into our heads that Henry IS the one good thing from them and they are his parents and that’s ok and they can get along but don’t have to be together. Now they just need to be super honest if this is the last we’ll see of them together because their conversations keep getting tossed aside (though they do have them because they reference things later sometimes). The jail thing was supposed to come out but I’m starting to wonder if it’ll be an actual conversation between Neal and Emma, or if it was just the fact that Henry knows now and, not having his memories, could easily blurt something out (in an attempt to defend Emma possibly) and thus everyone knows.
Guess I had more to say but I haven’t posted much about 3B yet even though I’m loving it! For an episode that had little screentime to work with, the moments there were were still very powerful, sometimes playful, and definitely exciting! Chomping at the bit for the rest of the season no matter what happens. I think there’s a LOT of really awesome stuff in store for us and even though the characters are being put through the ringer, there’ll be lots of great story for them to work with! Can’t wait for more CS moments! Even when they are few they are meaningful. I love this ship!

We’ve been talking in chat but wanted to add what I was saying there over here.
It looks like Charming is twirling Emma around and then she gets sucked through the portal. I believe this to be a nightmare, possibly something he has to face to help save Rapunzel (similar to when he dealt with the Siren playing tricks on him, there is likely something messing with his head while trying to get Rapunzel out of her tower). So possibility #1 – nightmare in the EF.
Possibility #2 – still a nightmare but in SB. Worrying about his unborn child and remembering the fact that he “lost” Emma when she was a baby and being afraid of history repeating itself / dreaming of what could have been and how excited he is to be a father again but wistfully thinking of the moments he didn’t get to have with Emma growing up, ie: dancing with her in a ballgown (similar to Snow telling her that she was going to teach her about balls etc when they were standing in the nursery in S2). Again, the dream becomes a nightmare because she is sucked through the portal away from him, just like she was as a baby.
I think this pretty much has to be a dream since I’m 99% sure that’s Charming and he’s dancing with a blonde. Given what else is happening right now, I can’t see it happening in the EF or in SB, so dream sequence makes sense. Plus the fact that it looks like they’re in her old nursery and the wardrobe still works.
I’m having trouble freeze-framing it, but I do think we’re going to get to see Emma in a ballgown dancing with her dad! (Before it quickly goes south and Charming wakes up / is snapped out of it.)
As for the rest I have no idea what to think but things are getting crazy! (And that doll head is seriously creepy!)

Sarah I have a feeling that picture was just BTS from 3×12 and couldn’t be posted until now. Either way since Hook is in it as well I’m not sure why that would make you think it might be him! (I really don’t think anything’s changed since we haven’t seen Neal in any present day stuff whereas everyone else seems to be accounted for if they did indeed already film that scene. Otherwise anyone missing might be off as a flying monkey or something but it sounds like they filmed the death and the funeral and Hook has definitely been seen since then so I wouldn’t worry too much. I am so sick of that spoiler making everyone paranoid!
Haven’t had a chance to do a write-up yet (things have been very busy) but I’m hoping to get to it soon. I agree this episode was WAY overhyped and doesn’t quite live up to it as far as the epicness of the CS scenes but they were still pretty good (lots of Hook feels AND Emma feels in this for different reasons but Hook was definitely laying everything on the line and making it crystal clear the ball is in her court, she’s just got a lot on her plate – as always – and is dealing with her own emotional issues courtesy of the last 8 months and a monkey man).
I’m just glad to have my show back and we’ll see how I feel after the 3rd watch of it. It was still a great episode and had lots of good CS stuff, it’s just not as big as I was thinking/hoping based on the hype. Such is the problem with spoilers. SO GLAD we have actual episodes to analyze now instead and I am not worried about CS at all. It was tough watching Hook have to listen to hurtful things but by the end he had her back in his life and his swagger and smile have returned and she TRUSTS HIM with the most important thing in the world to her, Henry, so nope, not worried at all and curious how 3×22 will call back to 3×12 as they usually mirror the premieres in some way. Lots of options with that one here for sure!
Can’t wait to see how this half season plays out. Lots of great callbacks to S1 & the beanstalk etc etc and can’t wait to see how Oz and the fake/missing year affect Emma and everyone else moving forward!

@HappyEndings – thanks for your kind words. I’d like to think that while we’re happy & have lots of things to be happy about, we’re not celebrating others’ being upset and we certainly don’t WANT people to be heartbroken. It’s inevitable that somebody will be no matter what and I hate that it comes to that. Glad many are being respectful. We’re a Oncer FAMILY and need to get along and support each other, even if we have different ships!THE INTERVIEW!
Love that Jim is a CS fan and gave us a joint interview like he did for Ginny & Josh! Could these two be any more adorable? Colin stumbling over everything trying to talk about stuff. To think he’s married and he’s tripping over questions about love and being super shy and blushing (and Jen teasing him). Such a cute interview! It also sounds like there’s more to the interview that we haven’t seen yet so hopefully we’ll get the rest of it sometime soon!
Hours later and I’m still not sure I can completely function after that set of interviews (Sean’s was lovely as well and he has an accent too! *swoon*), but about the question regarding the triangle: The way Jen worded this is key for me. It started well “Well there’s Neal……birth father (which is about all that can said at this point if the evil spoiler is correct)….BUT….let me talk about this awesome thing that is CS.” She started with the ok option, followed by BUT, and then spent the rest on CS. I wouldn’t put too much stock in the birth father thing because that’s what he is, that’s how to say he’ll always be a part of things BUT CS is where Emma’s heart is.
A big theme has always been choice and we’re supposed to see Emma make a choice this year so I really really hope that it’s done earlier on, in the first few episodes so there’s no doubt left. Technically her choice COULD be after something major and it’s her choice to move forward vs crumbling but she’s already done that in 3A and this needs more punch to it- we’ll have to wait and see I guess. I mean, WE have no doubt because Good Form WHICH RE-AIRS TONIGHT, showed that Emma could be “feeling good” and let herself start to move forward by kissing Hook a few days after she thought Neal died which was in direct contrast with everyone else she was around who would flip out if they lost their love…..
That said…this is a slightly different Emma we’re dealing with. She’s had both sets of memories, she’s had a long-term relationship, she raised Henry this time and it changed her subtly in some ways. Some will say it’s still too soon but she MIGHT be more open to it now and we’ll be pleasantly surprised! She encouraged Hook to think about her, he found her in NY, he’s getting her memories back and helping her with her family…we don’t know all the details yet. Once all her memories come crashing down on her and she gets a second to breathe, she might act on things she was too afraid to before because she’s almost lost the chance to multiple times now. So maybe she can and will make a choice earlier as opposed to later. I think her mind is already made up and it’s definitely going to be shown in this half of the season regardless, but it would probably go over just a little bit better if it happened earlier given what’s to come…though I’ll settle for a reverse S1 parallel TLK scenario later on of course and spend the half season like we did with 3A watching one of them fall hard….as long as she keeps giving Killian HOPE since she hates false hope but encouraged him to keep thinking about her!
We’re supposed to get 7 scenes in 3×12 I think Mandy said and I can’t wait! And the sneaks are only snippets of the scenes….SO EXCITED!
GOOD FORM & GOING HOME re-air tonight (interesting choices guys, seriously subtle), and tomorrow is the 1 hour special followed by 3×12. CAN’T WAIT! (On the bright side, stupid Daylight Savings Time is useful finally….we get to skip ahead an hour so it’s that much closer! 1 more sleep!)
