Loving these captions! So cute (and I love *nice* Grandpastiltskin moments!)
It would be hilarious to see what his answer would be…probably “Go bug your other grandfather, he knows more about these things.”

MysteryKat25ParticipantI am not bashing, just comparing and contrasting to explain WHY I love this particular moment of Hook’s so much, so please bear with me.
I was asked yesterday to explain my issues with Neal without mentioning CS and one of the things that I put on my list was “mocking Emma’s ability” – he told her outright that he never believed in her lying ability.
What I didn’t think about at the time (because initially just the mocking of it was what bugged me) was the fact that he did this IN FRONT OF HENRY. Emma has always made a point of trying to be kind to Henry about Regina even though there are obvious issues there, because she knows that Henry loves her. Neal undermined Emma in front of Henry. So glad I remember now why that scene bugged me so much.
Emma’s ability is the one thing she has held onto her whole life that she prides herself on,as well as one of the first things she told Henry about herself, and he did that in front of their son (and she was RIGHT!)
I know Neal is new to the whole parent thing (and I’m sure he’ll get better at it with time, just like Emma) but so was Emma last season and she didn’t undermine Regina to Henry nearly as much (if anybody did, it was Henry himself but even after all of the EQ talk he was adament not to let anything happen to her and Emma has always gone along with that, even when it would be so much easier to let Regina die).
Emma respects the relationships that others have with her son because they’re a part of his life and it’s necessary to do so. It’s bad enough it showed a lack of respect of Emma (especially knowing that she prided herself on that and he was laughing at it and saying it was cute and all but he never actually believed her – which means he just went along with it back then too, grrrrrrr *I really want to like you but sometimes you make it so difficult!*) but to do it in front of Henry?
This boils down to one of the things I really really love about Hook in ASOTM – he waited until everyone walked away to have a PRIVATE moment with Emma and ask her what was really going on and get to the important details of things. He didn’t just write off what she was thinking or feeling, he asked and he didn’t judge what she said.
Respect is a big thing for me and Hook showed enough respect for her to wait until others (including Henry) were out of earshot to find out what she was thinking. He wasn’t doing anything undermining & directed specifically at her (he criticized the PLAN of the entire group), he didn’t argue with her after what she said to him and waited for privacy to ask for details and get down to what was really on her mind. He certainly didn’t try to upset her relationship with her son – which is what can happen when separated parents put the other one down in front of the kid. (I say separated because contrary to popular belief they were never married, Rumple is not Emma’s father-in-law etc. etc.)
Again I like Neal, I want him to do better and I think over time he will. I just really appreciated that Hook had the decency to not undermine Emma in front of Henry and that he wanted a private conversation.
The only private conversations we’ve really seen for Emma & Neal, present day have basically resulted in “ha, you’re jealous” with a grin or laughter, or you’re wrong and I never believed your ability. I want to like you gosh darn it, make it easier! These two seriously need to talk no matter which way the triangle goes but it’s hard to root for someone who is laughing at someone else’s pain and bringing their relationship with their child into question when he’s been around all of 5 minutes. >.< The grinning like an idiot thing is reminding me last season of August & Ruby. I feel like Pinocchio was so excited that Ruby was flirting with him because the last time he saw her he was a kid (who totally could have had a crush on Red, who knows) and it felt to me in that scene like he felt like a little kid again getting his wish. I’ve said it before but I feel like Bae was 14 for soooo long that he’s had a little trouble adjusting in certain areas but there’s definitely room for him to grow and get better about stuff (being an instant parent to Henry is sure to help with that, especially since his initial gut reaction was be a better dad than Rumple was). Emma was a pretty strong, independent woman when she entered SB but has grown leaps and bounds having Henry in her life. I hope the same will be true of Neal in that department (and I think it will be).

MysteryKat25ParticipantSadly I have no idea how to make gifs, I just enjoy looking at them! Hopefully I can capture what I need to in order to explain with just screenshots (and figure out a concise way to put them together and show what I need them to show.
There are many things with just the wording, but a lot of the biggest set-up, especially for ships, just can’t be done without the pictures! Quotes will only get you so far but with so many parallels being done with the imagery it’s important to include it in the analysis for sure.

MysteryKat25ParticipantI don’t consider too many of these questions to be “plot holes” but rather threads to be woven in later (for the most part). They set up a lot of stuff, some of it for short arcs that are answered within a couple of episodes and some that reach further than we ever dreamed and the answer shows up when we don’t expect it. That being said…
This thread is making my head hurt but I didn’t see this anywhere so I’ll ask it anyway:
In Child of the Moon, Quinn says that the wolf den “Used to be the grand hall of a castle, until it sunk underground. Now it’s all ours.”
So who’s castle was it and how did it sink underground? That storyline is pretty wrapped up (especially since they killed off so many of the wolves) but that line stuck out to me and I feel like they planned on weaving something else in there.
It’s similar reasoning to my reaction from Lady of the Lake – I feel like we should see Lancelot again because they mentioned so many things about his character that just weren’t necessary for that story that could easily be woven in later with flashbacks when they become relevant to show again.
With Ruby gone and most of those wolves dead I’m not sure how relevant the underground lair could / would have been, but it does make me curious so thought I’d throw that out there.

MysteryKat25ParticipantObisgirl you weren’t kidding about Snow Falls & Tallahassee! I’m looking over the transcripts for earlier eps right now to jot down some thoughts / quotes (not gonna do the actual rewatch for a bit but I’m multi-tasking the fast way at the moment) and a lot of things jumped out at me that I remember from Snow Falls but never remotely connected to Tallahassee til now. Once I get it all sorted & grab screenshots I’ll post my thoughts on it all but it’s making me feel lots better so far! 🙂
Going to great lengths to back away a bit from what we think we’ve seen to what was actually shown and taking the shipper goggles off to a degree (when I find something positive for CS of course I’m happy but I’m also trying to analyze everything here on top of the million other things I’m doing.)
I’ve noticed many times in the past dealing with completely unrelated stuff, that sometimes we’re pretty darn sure that so and so said this when in actuality, the wording was quite different (anybody remember how many times we’ve been around the bend and back on where Bae was supposed to end up because the BF said he was supposed to go to a land without magic except that she didn’t actually say that to him? Yeah me neither – I’ve lost track).
So I’m trying to *really* focus on the source material as much as I love the thoughts that I’ve been seeing about anything shipper-related. With a long summer and an already heated mess of a triangle, it can’t hurt to go back and see what we really have to work with and have actual things to show for it.
No idea how to put all these things together. Lists will certainly come in handy but some stuff it’s hard to show the similarities without lots of screenshots too. I’ll figure something out when I’m not so tired but loving all the stuff you guys have been sharing here and looking forward to more!

Maybe Grumpy is the Cheshire Cat.
*snort* No.
ROFL!
If anybody has appeared cheshire cat-like to me, it’s Rumple (in his swordfight with Charming, grinning like an idiot, disappearing / reappearing in various places in the forest nearby). Can’t really imagine who they might actually use as a cheshire cat but as funny as GrumpyCat 2.0 would be….NO! lol

MysteryKat25ParticipantSo far I’ve had no luck finding the quote in anything that hasn’t appeared in the last couple of days. Anybody have any better luck?
KFChimera – it could be Grumpy but I’d hate to lose him on OUAT and I’d like to think he’ll be important in helping Belle out in SB.
Until we see when that quote was actually from I’m still inclined to think it was initial pitch-time rather than immediately before the show was picked up. Everything we heard about the show originally was that it was with the Mad Hatter in mind and then that had to be massively revamped.

MysteryKat25ParticipantJust found this article and wanted to share. I saw one of the quotes on tumblr and tracked it down. Needed some happy Hook / CS news with the day I’ve been having.
The article is from back in Feb but it has some cute stuff about Colin, twitter and a big chunk on Colin’s audition and how well-liked Hook is by the people on the show directly from Kitsis (with his wife weighing in on the auditioning process – go Kitsis’ wife! – sorry I don’t know her name…) Love her reaction and what the other female executives were saying too! (And this is from all the way back in Feb! First time I’ve been happy about “old” news in a long time). *clings to anything remotely hopeful & happy*
Here’s the part specifically with Kitsis’ comments:
“I will tell you, from the moment Colin auditioned, and I was home and watching it, [it was clear,]” Kitsis said. “My wife never watches auditions with me, and I’m seeing it, staring at it like I’m transfixed, and I hear this, ‘You better (please avoid obscenities) hire him.’ And I turn around and it’s my wife. I’ve never seen a reaction to anybody like I’ve seen with Colin. Like, it’s crazy. Network executives, I have a lot of female executives and they’re like, ‘Is Hook in this one?’ And I’m like, ‘What?’ And they’re like, ‘Can Hook be here?’ [My reply is] ‘This scene is just Henry alone on a slide.’ [And they joke] ‘That’s all right: Hook likes playgrounds!’ Colin has just done an unbelievable job and the character is so much fun.”
<3 it!

MysteryKat25ParticipantInteresting, thanks for sharing! I didn’t recognize a lot of the projects. Wish they had used Hawaii Five-0 for Josh though, much better than showing him as an egg-head node in Doctor Who (and I’ve been obsessed with Doctor Who lately) – still, not the most flattering past project they could have showed for him, though I think it was one of his first ones and they don’t seem to want to use anything super recent so it was either that or Fandral in Thor with the funny facial hair. Still prefer his stint as Ben Bass on H50 though. I think JMO got the only really flattering one out of the bunch though. The rest I “recognized” but they all look so different now!

MysteryKat25ParticipantHow does Wonderland fit into the world of Once Upon a Time? — Betty
NATALIE: Let us take a look back to what executive producer Edward Kitsis told reporters before the show was picked up to series: “Wonderland takes place post-curse, so the pilot actually starts when magic comes and the Wraith happens.” Note the Wraith, because that’s very important to where the spin-off actually picks up, with fans seeing a different character’s point of view that won’t make you angry. Also look for the spin-off to feature other lands in a mash-up style similar to Once that may make you question who a past character really was.I bolded the above sentence because I think it makes a HUGE difference here. I agree that angry should point to the Mad Hatter but how long ago was this blurb actually written? All they say here is that it’s what he told reporters before the show was picked up but was this the initial pitch? Part of the presentation when they actually had something to show? WHEN?!?
We know they don’t want to recast SS and I’m pretty sure there’s no way they get him for the pilot. I think since they made a point of saying “angry” and all the fuss originally was that they wanted it to be a show about the Mad Hatter, that this blurb was written ages ago and they’re just trying to tell us all the information they know, and going back to the beginning to point things out.
I get why it’s alluring and I was excited for a moment too, but until / unless we know when that particular comment was made, it could have been at any point in the past and I feel like this is initial pitch stuff, not recent.
Also the only part of that that Kitsis actually said was
“Wonderland takes place post-curse, so the pilot actually starts when magic comes and the Wraith happens.”
Everything else is conjecture based on whatever conversation they had with him, not words straight from his mouth. I have a feeling that’s why it was teased as “angry” since he wasn’t out and out letting them say who, but the last couple of days I’ve been focused on source material for things and this is all we officially have to go on. We see the same little quotes with a million different interpretations all the time, and people wonder why we thought it was official something was happening. Also things change once series get picked up, especially when you have to revamp because you can’t use the character you thought you were going to.
I could be wrong and if I am then I will happily join in trying to figure out who else it could mean, but for now I think the rabbit is just the rabbit (and a darn cute one at that!)
