ParticipantI hate how a few people who are beyond rude & horrible to the wonderful people who are giving us this stuff to love in the first place are making us ALL look bad. I’m sick of seeing it everywhere though. It was worded badly, it was meant to refer to the loud but vocal minority of fans that ARE rude to them, and now everyone’s having to do massive PR work to make up for people who are losing faith now, even though they had answers in 3×03. (Why people are still yelling at Adam and now Lana for saying HQ is unlikely and now Michael Coleman for saying that SQ would be staying as fanfic is beyond me – I thought ALL of that was already made clear, for sure, after 3×03 when they said we’d know who Regina was supposed to end up with but apparently people skipped that episode or have way more faith in it even though they’ve said all that they’ve said.)
NOTHING excuses hate from anyone though. You can express sadness without being rude about it and no matter whether it’s ever going to be canon or not, you can find something good in it to love and spark creative endeavors like fanfic, vids, graphics, whatever. Those things don’t just disappear because the show wasn’t written with a gazillion different versions, individually tailored to all of us. It is heartbreaking when something you really want doesn’t pan out the way you hoped for and I’m pretty sure everyone knows what that’s like from one show or another. We’re ALL invested heavily in our ships. ENOUGH ALREADY.
I wouldn’t be surprised if they stopped interacting so much on twitter. There aren’t enough positive messages in the world to drown out one horrible comment that will stick with them forever. Nobody deserves that.

Participant@Jennifer – I wrote about this on tumblr but I’ll copy it in here as well regarding what happened with the curse and reversing it. August should still be young Pinocchio & was sent back with everyone else. Everything that happened, happened. So everything up until Emma chose to keep Henry was the same as before, and everything after were the fake memories for her. The only thing that would be real-esque would be the past year where it was all her choices and not implanted memories from Regina, but everyone in the EF remembers SB and everything that happened (so no getting back characters we lost etc etc).
To OUR world, it would be like Storybrooke never existed, thus Emma & Henry’s memories of it had to go as well as Storybrooke itself. Everything was sent back. It’s also why EVERYONE (other than Emma) not of our world had to go back as they weren’t supposed to be here in the first place.
Emma was able to stay because of the Savior loophole, and Alexandra (Cinderella’s daughter) was conceived in Fairy Tale Land so was sent back with everyone else.
Basically the counter-curse was getting everything OUT of our world that wasn’t supposed to ever have been here. It’s why even those who weren’t cursed couldn’t cross the line to stay with Emma and Henry. They would have been whisked away with the others no matter what.
To everyone in Fairy Tale Land, Storybrooke DID exist. They remember all of it. Everything that happened, happened.
Judging by the promo they land in FTL suddenly back in their FTL clothes and Snow has long hair etc. They’re standing in almost the same places as when they were engulfed in the smoke and I don’t see Archie so I’m guessing he may be a cricket again. August should still be the kid either way.
This had nothing to do with the old curse vs the counter-curse, nothing to do with being able to cross the town line etc etc. It was about getting what should never have been in our world, out of our world. To make it as though it never happened because it never should have happened. Emma was the only exception because she was actually written into the curse and someone needed to stay with Henry.
As for the book, I’m still thinking the fairies had something to do with it. When we see Snow question Blue in the flashback, the wardrobe isn’t done yet. By the time Pinocchio is going through the wardrobe and Emma is sent through, Blue speaks of “final preparations” with the fairies. All we know for sure is that she has hope that somehow their “story” would be told and we know it appeared in SB.
August spent 2 years looking for Emma before she went to jail, and once she was in jail he took Neal’s money and went to Thailand which is where he stayed until his leg started turning back to wood. So I don’t think he had anything to do with the book except to add in his own story later on. I could be wrong, but that’s the impression I’m getting right now. We definitely need some Blue backstory to find out how the book got there for sure but it seems to be something that would be sent over when the need arose possibly, since it suddenly appeared in MM’s closet.
I love how they’ve been book-ending the seasons/mini-seasons and this one popped up on tumblr. (Can’t wait for my complete rewatch in looking for clues the entire way based on what we know now but for now this will have to do!) I love these two and once again, the book-ending seems significant for CS!

Participant@rumplegoldfan – I’m thinking she actually called him Henry, didn’t she? Plus since Regina put in the memories, I’m sure she’d want to be able to think that Henry is out there somewhere happy and actually know his name is Henry. (Though I suppose he’s Henry Swan right now, doesn’t have quite the same ring to it, but he’s still Henry!) In fact I imagine that the memories she gave Emma are basically the ones that she had with Henry when he was growing up when things were still good, at least when he was really little and the rest the way she wishes she had done it. She has all that experience and as she’s reminded us again and again, she was there for everything when he was little and knows how to deal with him being upset or angry. So I think a lot of it was just giving Emma her memories in a way.
As for why he seemed a little different – we are a product of our experiences. He’s had an entirely different life this time around. We saw how dejected he was before MM gave him the book but after that all we saw was the trust believer because he was on a mission and became stronger through that. Now he’s had a “normal” existence and hasn’t had to be as much of a fighter for something as he was before. I didn’t catch any PP type reactions to anything, but if there were it’s easily explained since he is his great-grandson. I really just think it’s that this version of Henry hasn’t been through all the bad stuff.
I love her apartment but there wasn’t a whole lot to go on with the stuff. Most of it is probably meaningless or at least exaggerated by shipper bias as to what it might mean (most things are important so I imagine it does carry some significance somewhere). I really want to see more of it though. I wasn’t getting a whole lot off the artwork and its meanings, but I did love that she was surrounded by plants. It reminded me of the beanstalk which we’ve seen in various art from her life along the way, as well as NL. I don’t recall the Emma who lived in Boston having a ton of these plants all over the place. Pretty sure this is a reminder from a deeply buried memory that it makes her happy somehow.
I cracked up that she had the shackles on her wall though! Definitely a callback to leaving Hook on the beanstalk as much as she hated doing it. She’s only abandoned 2 people in her life and we know she regretted doing that with Henry and her actions / words have regretted doing that to Hook and she’s done it twice (notice she didn’t tell Neal in Manhattan if she had/didn’t have a problem with leaving Hook behind – she just said it wasn’t the first time she had done it). But she’s learned she can trust him now and that they make a great team and she should have trusted her instincts but was afraid to because of her past with Neal and now she’s gonna have to learn all of that all over again (enough to be able to trust Hook so he can get her to remember everything).
Hook and Henry are the two that have come back FOR HER even after she’s abandoned them. Everyone else has abandoned HER and then SHE found THEM. I don’t think it’s remotely a coincidence that Hook is the one to show up to her door to get her to believe and go back with him to help save everyone. It’s SO much like Henry in the pilot. Can’t wait for more parallels!
Then the whole wording of that scene just….”My family’s right here.” “Mom, you forgot something.” “You have to remember.”
Is it March yet? Can it be March now please?

ParticipantGood to know @hookian – thanks for the heads up! I know I stopped catching up on a bunch of them that were blatantly ignoring any of the even obvious parallels with CS because it got too frustrating. Personally I find it fascinating that the ones who taught me to look more in depth and notice the structure, camera angles etc etc have been hardcore denying CS is a real thing until very very recently, and one of the podcasts I love for the people is split down the middle on shipping and doesn’t do all the detailed stuff but at least it’s fun to listen to because both are represented.
I’d really love to be able to catch up on the others though. Been pretty busy and just gave up for awhile because it was so one-sided. I miss them, even if they don’t think my ship exists. We’ll just have to wait for the show to prove us right. It’s been doing a pretty good job so far! Look how far we’ve come! (And some of us have been here from the beginning – man was that rough!)

ParticipantWe have pretty pretty things, let’s focus on that!
I will NEVER be over this. It’s like when MM reacts to Emma’s blanket and you think for a moment she might remember and then doesn’t. But there’s a sense of familiarity even though she can’t place it. That’s what Emma’s reaction to Hook does for me because she’s trying to figure it out (and I wanna know why she’s shocked – has she been dreaming of someone who looks like him? Did the book show up and he’s in it and she’s stunned and doesn’t know what to think like when she borrowed Henry’s book after meeting Jefferson but still refused to believe even though it was a good likeness?)
She has the shackles from the beanstalk hanging on her wall, she’s got lots of plants that look like the beanstalk on her nursery ceiling all over the place, and then there’s this. Seriously. Tell me she looks like she absolutely hates it rather than she’s done it a million times and is completely comfortable. For a split second, it was the most natural thing in the world to her before her rational mind woke up and said “he’s a stranger, what are you doing?” And even after that? She did what she did before turning to go join him on the beanstalk: she licked her lips.
But this moment. Yeah she totally hates him and doesn’t feel any sense of familiarity, like maybe she’s dreamed of it often or somewhere deep deep down remembers this as a GOOD thing – she was “feeling good” when she kissed him the last time. (Also since people will say it’s just cause he’s hot or whatever, there is NOTHING wrong with actually being ATTRACTED to the person you love. In fact it’s kind of, you know, encouraged? But there is SO much more to CS than that and she snapped out of it and reacted appropriately after a brief moment because to her he IS a stranger right now.)
It’s just…so beautiful. Started out so full of hope for Hook and even knowing that it might not work, he had to try. He is IN LOVE WITH HER and in it for the long haul and full of hope. For a second it’s easy to forget that it doesn’t work with memory loss. That maybe just maybe it would work, because she seemed shocked to see him and then totally leaned in and closed her eyes for the kiss too. I feel really really good about this!
Also there’s the fact that every time we saw Snow recover from a memory curse – first person she sees is Charming. For Belle, it’s Rumple. For Emma it’s gonna be Hook. He’s the one that’s there, trying TLK to break her curse even though it won’t work with memory loss, and he’ll be the one to remind her of who she is so that she can go help everyone. Can’t wait! (And yay for future gifsets of these things happening but seriously – he’s the one that’s there and all these things are happening that are parallels to the two biggest TL couples on the show. It’s significant.)

ParticipantI’d say stay away from it as well. It’s bad enough to get into the debates in the chat (and believe me it’s not fun to be ganged up on) but if we have arguments going in the thread, people will feel the need to defend what they love, especially when someone else is questioning why it’s lovable in the first place and it just spirals out of hand quickly. We’re on hiatus people, that mans we’re all going a little nuts and don’t need to add to it.
My goal for hiatus is to not fight with shippers. I don’t want to see the negativity or meanness or rudeness I saw last summer all over this fandom. I just want to enjoy what I enjoy and be done with it. It’s up to everyone unless someone closes that accursed thread (please close it), but I think for all our sanity we should try to stay away from it. We have pleasant discussions in here with like-minded people for the most part, but let’s not go overboard. We may not agree 100% with everything’s that’s said but at least we agree for the most part and aren’t causing people to defend what they love over here. If they choose to wander in here then that’s their problem. I’m staying far away from everything else that isn’t in neutral territory and by neutral I don’t mean “designed for arguments/debates” – hard to stay away from everything but I just don’t want to deal with the nastiness this time around.
We have a lot to be excited about that should keep us more than busy over the hiatus. Trying to convince someone else that it HAS to be huge because it’s a big parallel when it’s clear they are looking for loopholes (and they HAVE TO, it’s called finding a way to have some HOPE over the hiatus and it doesn’t *technically* prove anything 100% official until we see it play out), is pointless. We’re just spinning wheels at this point. Everyone has pretty much made up their minds to either ship something or be on the fence or not like one even if they’re not encouraging of the other. There’s NO POINT to debating it further. I’ve spent far too many countless nights trying to defend what I love and what was the point? The show is doing it for me. It will continue to do that for me, and we bring in more shippers all the time from watching the show so it’s doing something good for us. Let’s let it.

LOVE all the graphics! I think next rewatch I’m gonna start trying to grab some stuff to put together too. For now I can but admire the beautiful things from afar and share when appropriate but you guys have a lot of the good gifsets covered!
Re: the medusa gif – I was thinking the other would have been better because they were both throwing a powder/dust of some kind but I see your point about the teamwork thing! I’m always skeptical of gifsets I see for things I don’t agree with and then to see things that don’t quite match makes me feel like the argument isn’t as strong as it was before but teamwork is lovely!

ParticipantI still think Blue might be good and Black is the one that is evil. Setting aside the fact I’m 99% sure they said at one point that Blue IS good, I’m going to look at what she said in this episode.
- Exiled the Black Fairy
- Maybe she was too strict
If the Black Fairy went off the deep end and became very rebellious to the Fairy Order and caused a lot of problems, it would make sense for the person taking over from her to want to get everything in line. In an attempt to not have anyone ever go down that path again, Blue became very strict and harsh.
We don’t know what turned the Black Fairy down that path, or even who she is yet, but it might shed some light on why Blue is the way she is. Up until now, she hasn’t wanted to help people she didn’t think deserved a second chance, she didn’t want love to get in the way of someone being a fairy etc. etc. So perhaps this Black Fairy really did a number on her and made her shut down and establish a very hard ruling thumb over the rest of the fairies to make sure a fairy never went down that path again because it was SO bad.
I completely agree that if they’re name-checking it this early, they’re building toward something. Otherwise it was just extremely random. So I’m inclined (since we haven’t seen backstory on Blue yet and MOST, not all but MOST characters are at least shades of grey and not JUST evil) to think that maybe Blue wasn’t always this way and that she’s just misunderstood and strict, and that the Black Fairy is actually the evil one. NO idea how she ties in but Blue has been in charge and bitter about stuff for a LONG time.
What we know about Blue other than her questionable actions:
- Ruel Gorum (spelling?) – Original Power
- Centuries old
- Exiled the Black Fairy
- Is now head fairy
The only part of that I’m not sure how to tie-in with her supposedly being good, and her exiling the Black Fairy is how was the Black Fairy more powerful if Blue was the “Original Power” unless it was more of a blanket GROUP of “original power” types and SHE wasn’t THE original power? Could it be a case of Morraine hearing stories and going with that? We’ve seen that before with other stories, most noticeably Anton’s being different from the tale everyone expected. Perhaps FAIRIES THEMSELVES are the “original power” as a collective unit?
So far we have:
- Black Fairy – unknown, was exiled by Blue
- Blue Fairy – head fairy, exiled the Black Fairy
- Gold Fairy – Cinderella’s Fairy Godmother, killed by Rumplestiltskin
- Pink Fairy – Nova, in training
- Green Fairy – Tinkerbell, rebellious and recently got her wings back, job unknown other than trying to help people find their soulmates (whether that is job or hobby is unknown but seems to be a fairy trait?)
What we’ve been shown so far, fairies in general seem to be “good” beings. Their goal is to help others in some way. We’ve seen granting of wishes (Blue), helping find soulmates (Tink), and then there are the fairy godmothers. These are all positive things. It sounds like the Black Fairy is the one that took things too far or did something horrible.
On first runthrough on this it does seem like Blue is high and mighty but I have a feeling we’ve seen her be mean to Nova and Tink as a reaction to what letting evil fairies stick around can do, especially with Tink. Instead of letting her stay rebellious and get into even more trouble, she took her wings. Her “crime” wasn’t nearly as bad as I would expect from whatever the Black Fairy has done since EVERYONE seems so afraid and that her wand is THE most powerful but it could still be a knee-jerk reaction to Blue in not wanting to watch history repeat itself with whatever horrible thing happened to her before.
Can we PLEASE get some Blue backstory now?? Hopefully with the introduction of the Black Fairy we’ll finally get some answers on Blue. I’m betting that the Black Fairy was extremely close to her and she probably turned a blind eye on all the little infractions over time and then something huge happened. They could have even been sisters or something. But her extreme reactions to little things like from Tink make me think she’s harsh so she can nip this in the bud and not let it create problems with potentially huge consequences. Guessing the Black Fairy got into something that was hard to stop. I’ll have to go back and watch but other than saying she exiled her I can’t remember what else was said. I’m betting exiling her and taking her wand wasn’t nearly as easy as taking Tink’s though, given the reactions we were getting from everyone who knew of her.

ParticipantLOL! I…need to check out the recaps more often I guess! Some were a little harsh but many were amusing! (He seriously does have chemistry with everyone and everything. I mean…one of his most popular ships is the floor for crying out loud!)
Anyways, here’s what I came to link! The most recent Snowing / CaptainSwan parallel gifset I’ve seen. I’m gonna try to make some next time through the rewatch maybe. I want to join in on the graphics fun!
The only gif I would have swapped out in this set is the medusa thing for the troll bridge when Snow throws the bad fairy dust like Emma throws the poppies but other than that, it’s great!

ParticipantThat would make a LOT more sense! Thanks! Thought I was going crazy trying to track the cuffs, but that would explain why Regina thought it would be safe to wear and how Pan conveniently had a loophole!
So that means Cora had them at some point that Regina would recognize them, she put a spell on them for the beanstalk, and after the beanstalk is when they were messed with by GOAT sending them to Pan. Hook at least has that impression I guess since he said “they rigged it” and obviously they wouldn’t know there was magic in it since Pan was manipulating them and told them whatever they needed to hear.
I thought I might be over-thinking something but Pan’s been playing such a long game it made me wonder!
