ABC’s Sunday Prime Time Loses Ground TVbytheNumbers

ABC can’t be happy about the ratings results for its Sunday prime-time lineup. Based on Nielsen overnights for the key 18-49 demo, all three of the network’s original dramas lost ground as ABC finished in fourth place among the big four networks.

TVbytheNumbers.com reports that “Once Upon a Time” fell one-tenth from a week ago to a 2.5 average rating in viewers 18-49, while “Revenge” lost four-tenths to a 1.9 and “Betrayal” also lost four-tenths, settling for a 1.1.

NBC won the night on the strength of “Sunday Night Football,” which pulled a 5.7 in 18-49 for the showdown between the Houston Texans and San Francisco 49ers. That was down a full ratings point from the preliminary number a week ago.

CBS’s prime time was delayed by a 44-minute football overrun, rendering preliminary numbers meaningless other than to point out that CBS appears locked into second place for prime time overall in the 18-49 demo, and first place in total viewers.

Fox’s lineup was even with last week or down a bit. “The Simpsons” equaled the 2.9 average in adults 18-49 that the show recorded a week ago, and “American Dad” matched its 2.1, while “Bob’s Burgers” slipped three-tenths to a 1.9 and “Family Guy” dipped one-tenth to a 2.5.

For prime time overall, NBC leads the way with a 4.9 average in viewers 18-49, followed by CBS with a 3.8, Fox with a 2.1, ABC with a 1.5 and Univision with a 1.1. In total viewers, it’s CBS on top with an average of 15.2 million, followed by NBC (12.6 million), ABC (5.3 million), Fox (4.6 million) and Univision (2.9 million).

he Simpsons and Once Upon A Time were adjusted up a tenth among adults 18-49 versus Sunday’s preliminary ratings. Final NFL numbers for NBC and CBS are below, as well as unscrambled program ratings for 60 Minutes, The Amazing Race, The Good Wife and The Mentalist.

    RECAP OF LOST GIRL

Gold is starting a fire. He stares at his shadow and pulls out the knife. He cuts his shadow loose! He tells it to hide the knife (the one that can kill him) –to hide it even from him. The shadow takes the knife and runs off.

The gang is cutting their way through the jungle. Regina says she could have poofed them up there but Hook says that’s too dangerous. Hook is guiding them through the island and Emma says that if he says to go somewhere that’s where they’re going to go because he used to live here. Mary Margaret asks Emma to call her Mom but Emma isn’t sure. They barely miss some poisonous thorns (the same poison Hook used on Gold). Emma tells Hook that in the famous stories, he was the bad guy and Pan was the good.

The get up high and look down on Pan’s lair. Hook says they need to make camp for the night since the jungle is too dangerous to traipse around in. Regina isn’t happy about taking a break when Henry is still in danger. Emma agrees but they have to keep their strength up. Mary tells Emma that she and David have learned that it’s never too late.

Flashback to Mary sleeping under glass when David rides up to kiss her and awake her from her cursed sleep. The mirror shows Regina the moment when true love’s kiss woke Mary. Regina is furious when she watches David propose to Mary (Charming to Snow in that world). Mary is rousing villagers to fight against Regina who shows up to insult and taunt them. Regina tells her that she will let Snow, Charming and the dwarves go if she will say that Regina is the rightful Queen.

She tells Snow she wants to take everything that belongs to her. Regina tells her she has until the next sundown to give in or else Regina will start killing people. She also says that Snow may be a princess but she’ll never be a queen.

Back in the now, in Neverland, Emma is tossing and turning and then wakes. She hears noise and goes to investigate. It sounds like children talking. Pan is there and asks if she heard it too. He introduces himself and she puts her sword to his throat and demands to know where her son is. Pan says he came to see who he’s up against and calls her the savior. He says he’s not impressed. He tells her he will give her a map that shows her exactly where Henry is. She’s very suspicious and asks why he’s giving it to her. He says is’t not about just finding him, but how she finds him. She opens it up to see that it’s blank. He tells her that she’ll only be able to read it after she accepts who she really is.

The gang checks out the parchment and Emma explains what Pan said about her accepting who she is. Regina says he has tricked them into wasting their time with the map. Regina wants to use magic on the map and Hook and the others tell her no. David agrees with Hook and he says he’s glad he’s winning over Emma’s dad. They all tell Regina they are going to pay by Pan’s rules on this.

Flashback to Snow talking to Charming and the dwarves and she says that Regina is right and that she’s not leadership material. She wants to take the offer and go into exile with all of them. Charming says they need to protect her kingdom. Grumpy wants to know why he’s so interested in her crown. The dwarves take Snow’s side and are happy to go into exile. David’s not. He goes to see Gold. He wants him to help Snow remember who she truly is.

Gold hears a noise and demands that they show themselves. He chased down the person and pulls back their hood. It’s Belle!! What the heck is she doing in Neverland? I thought she lost her memory…

Gold asks Belle how she got there. She asks why he’s dressed that way. He tries to kiss her and then realizes it’s not really her. He says Pan conjured up a vision of her to trick him. She tells him that it was him that conjured the vision.

Flashback to Gold and Charming talking. Gold says there’s nothing he can do to make Snow fight. Charming says he must have something and tells him to just name his price. Charming rides up on Snow target practicing with her bow. He tells her he went to see Gold and he told him about a magical weapon that could help her save her kingdom from Regina. He tells her it’s a half day’s ride away and she agrees to check it out.

Emma is staring at the blank map trying to activate it. She talks to it, making statements about herself. Mary tells her to tell the real truth and she starts talking about her birth in the other world, that her parents are Snow White and Prince Charming. They tell her to say the “s” word and she tells the map that she’s the savior. Nothing happens to the map. Regina snatches it and uses it to conjure a locator spell to lead them to Pan. Hook says he doesn’t want to go into the dark forest but Regina tells Emma to start leading since she wanted to be the leader.

Belle is walking with Gold near the cliff. She asks if he knows why he brought her to the island. He says he thought she was going to show him. She tells him that he’s holding back and asks what he’s not saying. He says he’s a coward and that he’s just like his father. She asks again why she’s there and what he’s wrestling with. He tells her about that deal Pan offered him. She says that he abandoned his son Baelfire and he doesn’t need to do the same to Henry and that he needs to let go of the past. This is the first step. He says that his father left him and she says that if he doesn’t want to repeat the mistakes that he made he needs to let go. Gold has the doll in his hands that the lost boy gave him and he throws it off the cliff.

Regina asks if Emma is ready to thank her as they follow the map and Emma says yes. Regina stops and says that she can feel Pan’s smugness. Hook tells Emma to be careful because Pan may look like a boy, but is a bloody demon. Mary whispers to Emma that they can do this.

Flashback to Charming and Snow on the hunt for the mystical weapon. She comments that it’s the first time they’ve been alone since they were engaged. Charming reminds her that she always has her dwarves around. He tells her Gold said the weapon is at the top of this hill and that it was made by Merlin in Camelot. They come upon what’s obviously Excalibur trapped in stone. Charming tries to pull it out unsuccessfully. He says that only the kingdom’s true ruler will have the strength to pull the sword from the stone. Snow says that she’s never ruled anything. She walks up and pulls the sword out. Charming says she is the true leader.

Back to now they follow the enchanted map to where Pan’s lair should be. Emma says that no one is here and that maybe Regina’s spell was wrong. Regina says, “Yeah, just blame me.” Emma sees Henry’s clothes and starts to run after him. The figure turns and it’s Pan in Henry’s clothes. Pan says that he’s disappointed because Emma broke the rules. He tells Hook that he should have known better. Emma tells him to give Henry to them. Pan says no because cheaters never win. The lost boys surround Pan and take aim with bows and arrows at the group of would-be rescuers.

[9:07:07 PM] Rachel Rowan: Hook tells the others to watch out for the Lost Boys’ arrows because they’re laced with dreamshade. The boys surround them and attack and a full-on melee ensues. Emma grabs one of the boys and knocks him to the ground. She holds him there and yells at him demanding to know where Henry is. But then she suddenly stops and gets off of him looking worried.

Pan whistles and the Lost Boys suddenly stop their attack. Pan tells Emma again that the map will tell her where Henry is but only if she stops denying who she really is. Pan and his boys leave.

Flashback to Snow and Charming preparing to confront the queen. The dwarves ask what they were up to all day and Mary says, “You’ll see.” Regina rolls up in her carriage and Mary tells her that she considered her offer but says that she can’t leave her people. Regina starts to choke one of the dwarves. Charming tells Snow that she can do this. Snow charges Regina with the sword. She misses once but then cuts her cheek. Snow says that she’s not denying who she is anymore and that she’s not leaving. Regina says she’ll see her on the battlefield.

In the now, Mary tells Emma not to let Pan shake her confidence. Emma is upset and says that she lost again. Emma says that if she really was the savior that the map would have already worked. Mary says that maybe she’s not even who they think she is. She asks Emma why she stopped when she had the boy on the ground.

Emma said she saw herself in him – saw the despair she had when she was a lost little girl who didn’t have her parents and could never understand why they gave her up. Emma says that on this island she doesn’t feel like a hero or a savior but an orphan. The map fills in! Emma asks what happened and Mary tells her she’s finally accepted who she is. Emma apologizes to Mary but Mary says it’s her fault and it’s her job to change that.

Flashback to Snow looking for Gold. He appears and asks what she wants. She asks about the specifics of the deal that he made with Charming. Snow says she’s ready to pay the price and asks what he promised him. Gold says that Charming told him he had nothing to give. Snow says that doesn’t sound like a deal made for Excalibur. He tells her the real Excalibur is still in Camelot. Gold disintegrates the sword at a touch and says that if it really was the legendary sword he wouldn’t be able to do that.

Gold snatches her mother’s necklace from her and says that everything comes with a cost including wasting his time. Snow finds Charming drinking with the dwarves who have finally decided to accept him. She is angry that her planted a fake sword and tricked her into thinking it was a powerful magical object. Charming says she just needed something to help remind her who she is and what she’s capable of. She kisses him.

Now – Emma takes the map to Hook to discuss how best to get to Henry. Hook says that the terrain will be nasty. David agrees because they only survived the Lost Boys because Pan let them. Hook gives Emma a drink from his flask and he asks her how she unlocked the map. She says she did what Pan asked. He asks again and she says wouldn’t he like to know. He says perhaps he would and she walks away.

Gold is walking through the woods when the doll that he threw away comes flying down to the ground and lands at his feet. He tries to burn it with his magic then steps on it. He starts walking again and finds the doll ahead of him unscathed. He picks it up and puts it in his vest.

Pan appears next to Emma and congratulates her on getting the map to work. He asks if she minds him calling her a lost girl. Pan says that she still hasn’t forgiven her parents for abandoning her and that by the time she finds Henry she’ll understand him and that he won’t want to leave the island because he will feel the same way about her. He also says that by the time she leaves the island she’ll actually be an orphan. David pulls up his shirt to find a cut on his ribs. He was hit by one of the dreamshade arrows!

    RUMPLE AND REGINA….
    .

How serious are Rumpelstiltskin’s father issues? “We’ve hinted in the past that his father is a coward and that his father’s name was something that haunted him and that his father left him,” Kitsis said. His partner-in-crime Horowitz added: “We see those issues have played themselves out in his relationship with his son [Baelfire]. Whatever happened to Rumpelstiltskin in his past is really creating the problems he’s getting today.” Episode four, “Nasty Habits,” will directly deal with Rumple’s backstory. “This is a man who wants to break the cycle of his past,” Kitsis said. “He wants to be a good father, but it’s like that quote, ‘I can resist anything but temptation.’ That’s also his weakness.”

    .
    .

How does Regina cope with working with people she despises? Things aren’t going to be easy for the Evil Queen to deal with. Horowitz said that Regina getting stuck with Emma, Hook, Snow and Charming in Neverland isn’t easy for her to come to grips with, promising that the third episode will deal with the repercussions.
