ParticipantI feel that way too Lola and I love Rumple, but no way I am ever going to give Neal a pass for leaving her. If I learned anything from the flashbacks in Tallahassee, it’s that it was a VERY traumatic experience for Emma and that, we as the audience were meant to sympathize more with her and understand why she is the way she is.
How do you do that? As a writer, I would compare and contrast Neal with another character who promised from the start that he would be there for her. And that character is Hook, who has not only promised to come back her but actually did, more than once too.
Remember, Neal could have gone after Emma in Broken after the curse was broken but he stayed away. And Emma knows that he knew about the curse. JMo confirmed that.

ParticipantI really like Bae as a boy, he was great. But something happened to him along the way and I didn’t like Neal as much. Somehow I couldn’t quite connect Bae/Neal in my mind as being the same person.
That’s what was what hard for me to reconcile in season two. Baelfire and Neal felt like two completely different people for a string of episodes for me. Pretty much up until the season two finale and then finally, I saw Bae in Neal. But then I remembered that Adam and Eddie actually considered making Bae and Neal two separate characters for a bit but they decided, even after we figured out that they were the same character, to make them same.

Grey’s Anatomy had a musical episode too. I just don’t see a whole series like this working. I’m surprised that Glee has managed to last as long as it has.I think Glee has survived due in large part to how new and innovative it once was when it came out. But then it became contrived and PSA-of-the-week, but had a dedicated enough fan base to keep it going.
Obisgirl is right. This is an Enchanted rip off but also trying to capitalize on the success of Glee and ONCE. I wouldn’t be surprised if the end up pairing this new show with ONCE somehow.
I really don’t think I’ll be happy if my Revenge gets moved again. Move Resurrection. Put it on a different night. But leave my Revenge alone.

ParticipantThanks Lola! Saved it to my tumblr likes for later. I’ll read after watching the episode.
How is this thread still stuck at 999 pages?! I thought for sure it would have exploded to 1,000 pages Sunday night.

ParticipantThen we have a large gap between Tallahassee and Manhattan. By then they knew that they could continue on with what they always planned to do which is CS. By the time Manhattan rolled around, they were blatantly paralleling Neal/Emma to Milah/Rumple (almost verbatim) and making a point that maybe they were meant to have been together for something (namely Henry) and that was it. That was in there from their very first reunion (along with JMO’s interview right after that episode aired that made it clear that Emma wanted him in Henry’s life but that she wasn’t going back to him. Pretty sure JMO has to know that kind of stuff to play it accurately, just like I’m sure Colin’s scripts almost always have something about staring longingly at Emma. They have to know what their character is up to and already knows, much like JMO knowing who Henry’s father was in S1 even though others didn’t.)
I whole heartedly agree. I know parallels can be a sour point, but honestly, the dialogue in Manhattan, Milah freaking out over Rumple leaving the battlefield and Emma freaking out over Neal leaving her because Pinnochio said it was alright, were red flags that Neal and Emma probably were not true loves, or meant to end up together in the present.
And Adam and Eddie and JMo especially know Emma’s psyche better than anyone. Whenever Jen says something in an interview about Emma’s emotions, she tends to be pretty accurate.
- They spent a season building up how much hatred Emma has regarding Neal and their past
- Hook was supposed to come in and be her love interest but have to test things first
- Parallel her past to her present to make sense of why she’s reacting the way she is (ie: too afraid to trust him because she’s been burned before)
- THEN IT ALL FAILS
I re-watched Tallahassee last night, and to me, it solidified Emma has trust issues. Especially after Neal left her to bring the watches to the feds, the very hopeful look on young Emma’s face about finding home. Finding home, going home, her family, a place where she is loved, that’s always been a big part of Emma’s character. So when the cop showed up and learned that Neal left, I felt for Emma.
We know why Neal left but think about the situation from Emma’s perspective (which is something we almost always do most of the time): the guy she loved, the man who promised her home, skipped out on her and let her take the fall for his crime. I wonder what could be going through her mind? That Neal never loved her, he was using her, that his promise to find Tallahassee was only that a promise and never meant to follow through with it.
And looking back now, probably the only reason Neal and Emma met was to have Henry. And that’s likely the case now. But because of what Neal did, he could never be anything more than a friend to her in the present. Emma letting Neal back into her life romantically would be a huge risk for her because he could let her down again and bam, those walls come right back up again. But Emma learned how to trust again because of Hook and she’s going to have to trust him in the finale.

ParticipantFriendly reminder that even if we’re going to “win” on Sunday (aka our ship will most likely officially become canon, better yet endgame), it doesn’t mean that we need to
brag about it to people from other ships
insult people who still don’t ship it and are angry about it
The Captain Swan ship is worth more than this childish behavior so please let us be the mature ones and let’s not provoke/respond to hate. The last thing we want is another battle in the ship war in those days of celebration. This was a PSA, thank you.
Carry on!!
