if anyone is interested, I wrote a lengthy blog post breaking down based on recent spoilers before this one, who might be dying in 3B.

Disclaimer: This is not an anti-Neal, hate post. This is simply putting together what we know is coming up in 3B and connecting the dots on who might die.

Here’s another one, on why Hook probably isn’t dying:

So normally I just stalk around the CS/Hook fandom tags quietly admiring from afar, but I’ve listened to the Straight On ‘Til Morning commentary with Colin and the Co-Exec Producer, David H. Goodman around three times in the past week (lol I have no self control) and I just had to mention something else related to the major spoiler that arose yesterday.

Under a read more because spoiler-talk and saving people’s dashes and stuff.

I’ve read a ton of great, wonderful, spot on posts about why people shouldn’t be worried about the fate of Hook so there’s no reason to reiterate that. There’s nothing more to say, really.

This is more of a moment I loved in the commentary that is just another example [i.e. bright flashing (really ridiculously precious and sincere) neon sign] supporting the fact not only that ‘The Powers That Be’ ™ put a lot of stock in Hook (and in Colin) from the get-go, but that Colin seems to really love playing him as well. These things are common knowledge I know, but this exchange is a really wonderful one I think:

Colin:  Speaking about the uh, about the sets – the boat and stuff like that – it was when I saw the boat and the green screen I kind of went “Okay, I might actually be back for Season 3, so that’s good.”

    [both laughing]

David H. Goodman (Co-Exec Producer / Writer):  Well, I will say you know, when we cast you, to the people that are listening, when we cast Colin, I mean, you never know. We all had high hopes for Captain Hook, but you know if that actor comes in and doesn’t do a good job that that character’s going to go away; and Colin you have, you have gone beyond any of our expectations and made yourself –

    Colin:  Oh, stop.

DHG:  Hey listen, it’s true. It’s true.

    Colin:  Thank you very much.

DHG:  We would not be doing this episode with Captain Hook sort of at the center of it if you hadn’t done such a great job, so thank you.

Colin:  It’s a good job nobody can see me, because I’ve literally gone bright red now at the minute, but thank you.

High hopes for a character that went above and beyond any expectation. Quite a bit of praise and love straight from the horse’s mouth.  You don’t tie a noose around the neck of the character fulfilling all your high hopes for him and then some. You base half a season around the area of his expertise — Neverland, and you irrevocably weave his story with that of the main character. You write him knowing you can undoubtedly achieve all those hopes you had in mind for him at the start and more. js js.

That’s why the ‘his arc and original story are done, therefore, he must die’ argument falls on deaf ears.  Unless, said character is Pinocchio where the writers really don’t know where else to go with the character.

Something else, I saw yesterday, Remember that spoiler that the reason why it was Hook who showed up at Emma’s at not Neal, the poster commented, maybe that’s because by that point, Neal is dead.  That would be a HUGE hindrance to why Neal couldn’t go.

Or maybe a name that goes with red hair.

    Maybe.

Because maybe if WWW wasn’t born green then she may not have had a “green” name.

if we’re going there, I’m going to say Scarlett.  Ruby’s already taken. 😉

with the WWW, I think, her origin story could go either way.  she could have been turned green or born green.

I love how in the Cave scene from Dark Hollow, instead of Emma asking Neal more information about the Hollow, she turned to Hook for that explanation.  I mean, Neal’s lived in Neverland before and would know more information, but nope, she asked Hook to explain it to her.

Gaultheria wrote: They should film a death scene now for every character. The leaks would have a hard time coping with that, and it would give the actors….motivation.

Wouldn’t surprise me at all if they did film multiple deaths. They know how big spoilers get leaked, and like RG said, another show they’ve worked on before has used that tactic.

I remember they did that for Sex and the City.  They filmed multiple endings and the fans were left wondering, what’s the real one?

Oh sure. Briefly: Orpheus and Eurydice are in love and once day Eurydice is bitten by a viper and dies. Orpheus decides to win her back and traveling down to the underworld–Hades–and and played his lyre for Hades and Persephone (btw: B and the B is based on Hades and Persephone). The music was so sad that Hades made Orpheus a deal: to allow Eurydice to return with him to earth on one condition: he should walk in front of her and not look back until they both had reached the upper world. He set off with Eurydice following, and, in his anxiety, as soon as he reached the upper world, he turned to look at her, forgetting that both needed to be in the upper world, and she vanished for the second time, but now forever. However a successful tale would have Belle bring Rumple back without failing. It wouldn’t be music, but it might be something else Belle is good at–storytelling. If she can tell Hades the right story, he would release Rumple. In other words, Belle wouldn’t die.

    I like that.

Also remember that PA tweeted how sweet and down to earth Colin was – which hopefully points to him NOT being the one she was talking about in her other tweets.

whenever we see Colin in interviews, he’s always a lot of fun.

also, Adam said that someone leaving b/c he or she was unhappy, was a rumor.

I hate those generalizations too.  I’m probably the minority here who doesn’t like him but I feel like sometimes I could like him if he weren’t hurting Emma a lot.

I agree about the spectrum thing.  Unless, a villain is Peter Pan, who we all saw in 3A was flat out evil, in general, with the villains we’ve seen Rumple, Regina, Hook, they didn’t start out evil.  Something made them become that way.

“Evil isn’t born, dearie; it’s made.”  And that’s been very true with the three I mentioned.

…because and I quote Peter Pan, “it’s easier to get someone to hate something than to believe.”

Hook is a hero.  That was the point of the whole Neverland arc, that he was a hero in a villains’ body and all he needed, like Regina, was for someone to give him a chance to be that person.

And the whole point of ‘Good Form’ was to show before he was this pirate and even Hook, he was a good man who believed in doing the honorable and good thing.  And after kissing Emma and later admitting that she’s helped him move on, Emma’s brought out the best version of himself; he is choosing to be good because he wants to be; not only for Emma but for himself.

He’s done with his revenge.  He’s moved on.  and he’s been able to do both because of Emma.

Haters are going to continue believing what they too because it’s easier for them to hate Hook, then to see he’s not the villain anymore. But we know the truth.  He is the hero now.

I’ve never really understood someone devoting their time to hating something and being proud for being called a hater.  There’s a fanlistings network and there’s also a hatelistings network — it just feels so counter productive to focus your time and energy on something you hate, rather than focus your positive energy on something you love.
