It looked relatively simple and painless. So why was it so easy in that case when Cyrus says its difficult/dangerous?
I think what Cyrus was getting at was that after getting his freedom Sydney did kill a person and wound up trapped again. Having that much freedom led to bad choices. I think Cyrus might fear what that much freedom could mean
I was wondering how Once fit into the timeline on OW, and thought, maybe it was possible Cyrus may have heard about what happened with the Genie and King Leopold, and that’s why he advised Alice against setting him free as one of her wishes.

ParticipantInteresting points of view everyone. This has been a nice pleasant debate to have with you all.
Yay!
Did you see this about a “Princess Bride” adaptation, Disney is working on?
It’ll be for the stage. No word yet if it will be a play or musical, or title.

ParticipantIt shows that that man is still in him and is starting to shine through but that it takes time. Also really helped cement the fact that Hook is the mask he hides behind but that Emma brings out the Killian side (looking forward to him calling him Killian and saying pirate as a term of endearment rather than one that hurts him!)
It’s like what Colin said in the DVD featurette, “Hook” and “Killian” are two separate personas.
No redemption is perfect or easy and it would be too easy if he just completed shed his Hook persona over night.
Yup.
He’s already toned down the things he says and the way he says them, and his voice changes when you know he’s emotional and serious. More and more of Killian is shining through but that doesn’t mean he just forgets all the bad stuff.
This.

ParticipantI don’t think his redemption arc has been easy. Nothing is ever easy when it comes to redemption. Look at Regina and Rumpelstiltskin. Like JMo said, “..he keeps on surprising her [in a good way].” He saved Charming’s life, didn’t take Pan’s death, led a rescue to save Neal (his romantic rival). Each episode is a stepping point in his redemption as a hero. It’s a journey.
Hook’s been very selfless since the beginning of this season. Nothing has ever been about himself. The moment on board the Jolly Roger, toasting Neal, Hook mourned him too but that moment was all about Emma and giving her the proper closure she needed.

ParticipantI’m hoping Wendy’s reappearance will help Neal bring out his past self as Baelfire. He’ll stop running away from that and accept, Baelfire’s is who he has always been.
On a happier note, remember Emma’s nursery? There might have been foreshadowing in there than the pirate doll.

ParticipantBelle will call him Mal. And that just makes me think of another fandom.
* coughs * Firefly.
On a separate note: whoever is in charge of casting seriously deserves an award.
Wyatt – young Rumpelstiltskin

Robert – Adult Rumpelstiltskin

Young Robert Carlyle

Jared Gilmore

ParticipantI’m just interested in the CS shipper view of this, rather than trying to cause trouble. I’ve seen in this thread that it’s believed that a theme of CS is choice. How is Hook telling Emma that “WHEN he wins her heart” and “He WILL win it” giving Emma any semblance of choice in the matter?
I’d also like to add:
He also ended it with.
“It will not because of trickery. It will be because you want me.”
In other words, the choice is still Emma’s. If she wants Hook to be there, he will continue to be there. If she wants him to back off and give her space, he’ll do that too. (He did this after their first kiss. He gave her space). Everything is about her choice. If she wants Hook, if she wants to be with him, that’s her choice.
There is nothing wrong in Hook letting her know that she will have to make a choice at some point, because the reality is, she will have to. It probably won’t happen now but once Henry is saved and they’re all back in Storybrooke, she will have to make a choice.
