ParticipantI just got all sorts of creeped out from the way Amara and Jafar’s relationship developed from master – apprentice to lovers. It was similar to Cora and Rumple, but at least she was a grown woman when their relationship started. Jafar was still just a child when Amara took him under her wing. Ick.
Yeah.
But yes, props to Naveen for playing a conniving Jafar. I didn’t expect him to backstab Amara; I thought it’d be the other way around.
That’s what I thought too, that she was the one using him the whole time.

ParticipantBut the question is how does this fit into Jafar wanting to change the laws of magic? Does he want to change the past so that his father never shunned him?
Probably. Obviously Jafar wants power and feels slighted by his father for abandoning him. He wants power (magical) and power to rule and he wants to be accepted by his father. And he has daddy issues on top of that. (Sounds a lot like Loki at that moment).

ParticipantThis is turning into a second string Hookriel thread with all us shippers.
I had a sneaking feeling this would happen 😉
Only thing I felt was lacking was the unrequited love theme.
Actually, the way Ariel phrased it with Snow, as “love at first sight” and unrequited love means it is one-sided love. It is love that is not openly reciprocated. The beloved may or may not be aware of the admirer’s deep and strong romantic affections.
I’m writing a long meta on all of this stuff. (And I have to add another section on ‘love at first sight’).
Clearly, Eric feels a connection to her and Ariel’s already in love with him since they met one year prior. The only two things he doesn’t know is that she’s the one who rescued him and that she’s a mermaid.

ParticipantIt was the way it came across that I disliked. It’s kind of hard to explain. It seemed like she was so mad at Charming, not so much because he lied to her, but because him being stuck in Neverland prevented her from getting what she wanted. Her reasons for having another baby came across as less about wanting to extend the family and as a bonus getting the chance to be a proper mother second time round, and more about because she didn’t get to raise Emma, she wants a baby to play mom to.
I saw it differently. I don’t think Snow was being selfish. I think she was upset because Charming kept a secret – a big one too – from her. He was dying and refused to tell his family (like how many times did Hook talk to him about telling them before it was too late?).
Remember, Hook had to trick David into coming with him otherwise he wouldn’t have gone and Charming would be dead already. That’s how stubborn Charming was being.
I also don’t fault Snow for wanting to have another baby because the curse cheated her and Charming out of raising Emma, watching her grow up and teaching her all the things parents teach their children when they’re little.
The CGI on Lana was Ursula wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be.
Eric’s a cutie 🙂 Can’t wait to see him again.

ParticipantI love Once’s Ariel. Watching her interact with Snow and being with Eric, I know the actress is older than Disney’s Ariel but there was still a naivety about her, like she didn’t think twice about putting on that bracelet on Snow. There was still an innocence there.
I like how she’s still collecting human stuff. I can see how, Gold’s shop will be treasure trove for her once she gets to Storybrooke.
So far, we’ve seen two characters from the Enchanted Forest, expelled and living in Neverland. Tinkerbell (she lost her wings, her home = she became a lost fairy). Ariel lost her voice, her love and I guess, felt lost from her family and she became a lost mermaid in Neverland.

ParticipantI think it had to do with rewriting the laws of magic and being all powerful, so they can do anything they want. Which is pretty much like world domination but with magic.
But I’m hoping there’s more to it than that.

ParticipantMaybe he did really love her but like Cora, he chose power over love.

ParticipantMaybe.

ParticipantI know, right? Lol.
And if the Sultan is the same Sultan from Disney’s Aladdin, then that means Jasmine is Jafar’s sister and that would all kinds of weird because in the movie, he wanted to marry Jasmine. .
