It’s interesting “constructed” was the original term. I mean, ok, scripts go through revision stages, just like editing fanfics. Things get changed around to make it sound better.

If Lily and Emma really are sisters then that rules out Henry falling for Lily’s daughter, since they’d be first cousins.

    Quote

Also, Lily is an adult now. Around Emma’s age (29/30) and Henry’s still supposed to be twelve, going on thirteen.  That’s super illegal. Even more so than the incest part.

I thought it went: -Rump gets curse. -Rump gives curse to Regina. -Regina trades curse to Maleficent. -Regina steals curse back from Maleficent.

I think that’s what it is.

Now, I’m wondering why didn’t Regina just use the curse to begin with?

In fact, I am having trouble thinking of when Rumple himself ever said he created the curse. I actually don’t think he did.

    Quote

Actually, he did. once. It was in the season one finale when Emma and Regina came into his shop looking for a way to save Henry.  All other instances allude to Rumple as the creator of the Dark Curse.

Maleficent: Hidden for the good of all, old friend. Whoever created that monstrosity, makes the two of us look positively…moral. Who did give it to you? (The Thing You Love Most, 1×02)

Regina Mills: You created the curse for me, the curse that brought us here and built all this. (The Return, 1×19)

Mr. Gold: Oh, yes. From strands of your parents’ hair, I made the most powerful potion in all the realm. So powerful, that when I created the dark curse, I placed a single drop on the parchment. Just a little safety valve. (A Land Without Magic, 1×22)

From The Return (1×19). It sounds like here all he needed was the idea for the curse.

Blue Fairy: You will never make it to that world.

Rumpelstiltskin: Oh, I’ll find a way. There must be other paths. A realm jumper?

    Blue Fairy: No.

    Rumpelstiltskin: A time turner?

    Blue Fairy: No.

    Rumpelstiltskin: A mage?

    Blue Fairy: There is no-

    Rumpelstiltskin: A curse?

    Blue Fairy: No.

Rumpelstiltskin: Ah! So, it is a curse.

Mr. Gold: Baelfire, is his name. After he left, I dedicated myself to finding him. I went down many, many paths. Until I found a curse that could take me to the land where he’d escaped. (The Crocodile, 2×04)

Presumably, Rumple meeting the Seer in 2×14 is after he attacks the Blue Fairy.  I think what he learns here is that he wasn’t going to be the one to cast it and also, he won’t be the one to break it.

Seer: It will not be an easy path. It will take many years… And require a curse. A curse…powerful enough to rip everyone from this land….You will not cast the curse… Someone else will. And you will not break the curse… Someone else will.  (Manhattan, 2×14).

Going Home, I think is probably the only instance where Rumple says he used the curse to find Bae.  That can be taken both ways, I think. He creates the curse, in order to use it to find his son. Or he didn’t really create the curse but still used it to find Bae.

Gold: I used the curse to find you, Bae, to tell you I made a mistake. (Going Home, 3×11).

I don’t really remember this interview but it interesting as far back as season one, that Rumple didn’t create the curse as we all thought. Maybe the Sorcerer created the curse?

“You realize that maybe Rumpelstiltskin [didn’t create the curse] for her at all – maybe he was doing it for himself. Maybe the curse was created for him.” – Robert Carlyle

I also think another way around this, is that we never saw Rumple actually create the Dark Curse. Rumple can take the credit for creating it, maybe modifying it at best but probably did not create it from scratch.

I hope this all makes sense 😉

I hope there’s something more to it than what we saw in this ep. If it’s just that they didn’t prevent the Curse because they weren’t prepared to go dark, then shouldn’t they have been blaming themselves for EVERYONE’S Curse induced suffering since the moment they got their memories back?

    Quote

I think this is probably exactly what happened. Snowing didn’t DO anything to Mal to cause her to lose her child, it’s what Snowing DIDN’T do ie stopping the curse that caused Mal to lose her child.

Throughout the series Snowing, and in particular Snow, have always been selfish when it comes to saving people. So long as they’re alright and the people they care about are alright, they don’t give a crap about anyone else. Snow is the one more prone to this kind of behaviour. Snow didn’t want to help Maleficent save her child because Snow didn’t want to risk HER child going dark despite having the chance to save everyone. Snow wanted another baby because the relationship she had with Emma isn’t what SHE wanted. Snow couldn’t keep her mouth shut about Neal being in Neverland until Hook and Charming had verified the truth in Pan’s claim because SHE didn’t want to keep it secret from Emma. Snow wanted Charming to drop everything because SHE wanted him to meet the midwife. Snow asks Regina to go undercover and thus jeopardising Regina’s redemption because SHE wants to keep her secret from Emma.

Snow is one of the most selfish characters on the show but disguises that selfishness as nobleness and goodness.

    Quote

    I’d say that’s very accurate.

I’m starting to think of Mal’s outfits as kind of like Regina’s outfits. They reflect her mood.

    Thanks Jenna 🙂

I’m so glad you’re enjoying ‘If You Love Me’.  I put so much love into everything I write because I want the story to be perfect, you know? I wasn’t kidding when I said that I revised chapters like a 100x over.  I do have a lot of faithful regular readers who trust in me and know, CS is ultimate end game. Just gonna take time to get to that perfect happy ending, but it’ll be worth it when it happens.

That nasty girl it appears is gone for good.  And I did find the spam and delete button on ao3′.org’s comments.

I finally watched the latest episode of Once. It was very good. I love how much Emma’s changed from since we first met her in season one up to now. Season two Emma is so different and so far away from the person she is now. It’s so glorious to see how far she’s come in terms of being open, trusting and believing.

I love how Emma addressed that she’s used to people letting her down because it happened so much to her in the past, that she became conditioned to think the worst of people. And that doesn’t just include Neal, but also Ingrid, Lily and whoever else pops up from her past who disappointed and left her alone. These disappointments and abandonment is why Emma had her walls, to protect herself from being hurt because people she loved/cared about kept on hurting and disappointing her!

It’s also why it’s hard to develop trust with Emma.

And I loved Killian’s response that he has no intention of letting her down.  Hook understood who Emma is from the beginning because he’s experienced the same things she’s experienced. He knows how she’s been hurt, what she needs and the kind of growth from her was never going to be easy but Emma, she’s getting there!

I read a wonderful meta not too long ago, outlining why Emma and Killian compliment each other so perfectly, that there seriously is no question that they are true loves. There was even a table included in the meta to show why these two are so perfect for each other.

Now, you can add to that list:

    Emma

Has been let down by people she loved in the past

    Killian

Has no intention of letting her down ever

    Welcome Luciano!!

What part of Italy are you from? I traveled there a few years ago, to Florence specifically and then later, took a day trip to Venice.

Cora, Pan, the Sultan — they’re all pretty bad in their own way. Each of them did pretty despicable things to their own children and all three actions ended with emotionally damaging their children, one way or another. But I thing that sets them apart is regret. No regret, I’d say they’re horrible people altogether.

No. Cora has repented of what she did when she got back the her heart. And actually the Regina discourse to her mother when has believed her dead has really touched her deeply (even if she still haven’t recovered the her heart). And in fact she apologized to her daughter for having forced her to marry the king.

But Cora’s apology, however sincere it was, the point of it was to manipulate her way back into Regina’s life. So she could have control over Regina’s life once again. And probably continue abusing her as well.

And before she died, when she recovered her heart, said at Regina that her quest for power was unnecessary and that it was enough the love of her daughter to make her complete and satisfied (and note that the heart of Cora was completely red. And then it hasn’t never been affected by all the bad things she has done).

There’s a saying. It’s easier to forgive than to forget. I think if Cora had lived, with her heart back in her chest, it wouldn’t be simple a happily ever after for Cora and Regina. There would be a lot that she would have needed to atone for her.  It wasn’t just Daniel that Regina lost, it was most of her childhood too where Cora abused her.

And another thing that makes Cora best of the sultan and Peter Pan, is that she, despite her mistakes, was able to make herself be loved by her daughters.

I have no doubt Cora loved Regina but was definitely a warped kind of love.  I think even Barbara Hershey said something to that effect in an interview.

And of course Regina loved her mother.  Cora was her mother.

Often times when abuse happens, I think in most cases, it comes from someone that is very close to the victim.  And in those instances, when the victim is being abused by someone that they love, the victim doesn’t know how he or she should respond and learns growing up, as Regina did, that this is what love is like. That’s what Regina learned fairly quickly with Henry, that was she was starting to become her mother by using magic on him to make him love her! Because it’s what Cora did to her!

even Regina, despite all the bad things that Cora has did to her, she don’t hate her really.

I never said Regina hated her mother. I know she loved her but again, Cora still a lot of awful things to her that I think, even if Cora had lived with her heart, would not have absolved everything that she did.  Everything Cora did, she still would have answered to Regina too. Regina would have held her accountable for her actions.
