Obviously he is somehow involved with Emma and probably knows about Henry’s father, whoever he is, since he brought Henry to Regina. I am betting that it was Rumple’s plan all along to get Emma to Storybrooke working with Henry to break the curse. And I won’t be surprised if, in the end, he ends up sacrificing himself in some way to make sure the curse is broken.
I think he’ll do that too in the end 😀
but then, he won’t be with belle. 🙁

ParticipantHere is a screencap of the plaque.
And I typed up the text since it’s too little to read 😀
Wishing Well plaque
For centuries, local legends claimed their mystical waters ran beneath this great land. It is said that these waters posses the power to return that which is lost to its rightful place. If you have lost something precious to you, drink from this well and bear witness to the miracle as what is missing shall be returned.
what I find very interesting about the description of the wishing well is the use of the word “centuries” because we know Storybrooke hasn’t been around that long. the last part about ‘bearing witness’ sounds like text pulled from the Bible.
here’s a screencap of places where we have seen the tree. [from tumblr]

ParticipantI did some searching and found this link about how to Repair an Old Classic Book. If you scroll down to the bottom, it is mentioned what tools you would need to do this.
I don’t know if any of the tools mentioned match what the Stranger used (I need to look for a screencap).

ParticipantDavid noticed Emma’s mobile in Mr. Gold’s pawn shop. It was the first thing he noticed, and Mr. Gold even offered to let him have a closer look. But then David got hypnotized by the red windmill and remembered his life with Catherine 🙁

The apple Snow ate in that episode wasn’t from Regina’s tree. Her apples are deep red and the one Snow ate was red, green, yellow, a “normal” apple.
thanks for clearing that up, mia 😀

ParticipantIf the stranger is the unreliable narrator, maybe he didn’t fix Henry books but mixed up the stories. That would make us question in future once flashbacks, if events actually happened that way or were stories changed because the stranger made them change?
then again, in the flashbacks, they’re things that already happened before the curse took place so they couldn’t really be changed because the book is changed, could they?

ParticipantThe Little Mermaid. I think I read the original story a long, long time ago. I remember small details that made it different from Disney, like the sea witch didn’t have a name and she wasn’t a squid, or an octopus. and I think the mermaid had to cut off her fins.
Actually, the witch might have been an octopus.
In Beauty and the Beast, her name wasn’t Belle and she had sisters who were spoiled and mean. and Belle got to marry the Beast after both of her nasty sisters were cruel to the Beast and she wasn’t mean to him.

So I have done a little stalking on other blogs and at roneyzone they have a wonderful little article about where else we have seen the tree…
1) It is on the door of the police car in the insignia
2) It is on the design of the police badge given to Emma by Graham
3) It is etched on the vase in David and Kathryn’s home when they are eating dinner (Skin Deep)So obviously this tree or a tree is important.
Also found in my digging around that Nostos (in OUAT ep13 the siren was in Lake Nostos) is a Greek word meaning “homecoming” and is a theme used in Homer’s Odyssey, so I feel sure this perhaps goes with the something lost being found idea (a homecoming of sorts). A siren is also present in Homer’s Odyssey.
One last note, and I may a bit naive here, but after James coming to the lake and the switch back to Storybrooke and the stranger taking Emma to the well, my initial and automatic reaction was that the water from the well came from Lake Nostos. I couldn’t figure why they would make such a big deal about the lake in FTL and then show us the well in SB if there was not a connection.
that is very interesting. I wonder if Regina has some power over the apple trees in Storybrooke. Like we have never really seen any characters try to eat her apples, except for Mr. Gold in episode 2 and even then, he tossed it back. And I think he said it’s not going to work on me, or something.
Snow ate an apple in episode 7 in a flashback, but do we know if she got that apple from Regina’s tree or was it an apple she picked up along the way when she was walking with the huntsman?
