ParticipantAnd the reason for that is that they never bothered with world-building, so now they’re just confusing themselves.
I think they did bother with it at first, but I don’t feel that they realised how long the show would go on with and therefore the depth of their world-building wasn’t sufficient. They boxed themselves in in some areas, and inevitably have had to break and twist most of the rules that they initially created to the point that they undermine themselves and the show in pretty much every episode. It’s just a great shame because even now I still feel that there is so much potential in this concept, but I don’t know that the show can ever fundamentally be repaired at this point.
Also, why do they have to keep creating these stupid plot devices like the sapling of true love? We have never heard of it before and I am sure it could have been used a lot of times in the past in terms of breaking spells or assisting with something or over. Why couldn’t they just have been reminded of their true love in some other way?
I also don’t like to come across with a hater. I have a great love for this show and that is why I get so frustrated by it.

ParticipantIt’d be nice if Zelena would bring up Hades to remind everyone that while the EQ has a new romance, Zelena just very recently lost hers.
Why on earth would they bring Zelena’s grief into this? It isn’t a Zelena episode, which means that her feelings don’t matter and her motives for doing things are based purely on what needs to happen in the plot… I don’t think I could watch this show if they actually allowed all of the characters to be layered in each episode, and not just the episodes that are based around them. :p

ParticipantIts funny with this season, some strands of the story are really good but there’s also a lot that just seems completely contrived.
This is exactly my feeling, and it is almost more infuriating than watching episodes that have no glimmers of greatness in them.

ParticipantJust rewatched the episode and something is really bugging me. How is it that Jasmine has a phone in this land and is au fait with texting, having come over from the LoUS, but Hook in the next scene still doesn’t know what a games console is, having been in Storybrooke for rather a long time now? I guess Henry may not get much time to play it, but still…
I guess Violet was texting Henry pretty quickly as well. Perhaps there is phone shop where they give them out for free?

ParticipantI think what they mean by not liking how hook is redeemed, is about how fast that redeemtion has been made, in this episode case, Henry forgave him after knowing Hook killed his father, ( which was a stupid killing, bc he killed him, bc he named the new son after his older son, but never mind that), while Henry with Regina took longer, took several seasons and with hook took only 42 min
I think that is part of the problem with the show. They used to make these character arcs span across seasons, and people’s actions actually had meaning and consequences. These days characters do completely 180’s between the beginning and end of the episode, or they steal a baby because the plot requires it. (To this day I have no idea what the whole plot with Emma’s darkness being dispelled was all about – they made such a big thing about it and it didn’t really lead anywhere).

ParticipantI wonder how many episodes this AU story will span. I’m guessing that it may be more than two if they opted not to do the usual and make something like this the two hour finale.
Matt
ParticipantBut how could Liam be in his….early 20s?
Your questions are pointless.

ParticipantIn a flashback to the Enchanted Forest, Bandit Snow dodges a bounty hunter known as the Woodcutter while shepherd David goes on a fateful journey to sell his family’s farm.
My biggest fear since filming news for this episode came out was that they were going to retcon when Snow and Charming first met, by having them actually meet earlier, but they forgot cause PLOT. This synopsis does not erase that fear. Having Snow and Charming secretly meet before would make their first meeting in “Snow Falls”/”Snow Drifts” less special.
I am hoping they aren’t going that route.
Oh dear, the first spark of true love. Whatever will they be questing for next?! I also can’t believe that the romance between EQ and Rumple is really a thing!

ParticipantWhat do we think is in the bottle?
Matt
ParticipantThis is probably a tiny thing, but I thought it was interesting that Henry mentioned wookies as existing in an “alternate universe”. With our theories of what is coming up it almost seems like they are seeding the idea already.
