ParticipantRumple loves to get hung up on technicalities and semantics. Nobody is really happier after making a deal with Rumple. The only people he bothers making deals with are the people he can manipulate.
It’s possible that Rumple thought being killed by the Chernabog was the happiest ending possible for the QoD.
Maybe Rumple knew the QoD would escape the Chernabog, knowing it would make Mal, Cruella, and Ursula friends, thus, giving them a happy ending or pushing them in the direction of their happy ending. Considering his powers of foresight, he must’ve known they’d escape the Chernabog.
Or, he deliberately broke his deal with the QoD. People get caught up here because, officially, the only deal he ever broke was the one he made with Baelfire. Perhaps, this is the only deal he broke that actually mattered to him. He wasn’t trying to manipulate anyone.
The view we get of Rumple’s character in season 1 is a narrow one. Rumple’s true evil comes to light in later seasons, but we (and I include myself here) refuse to let go of that man who loved his son and did everything and anything to get his son back.
Every season has proven Rumple to be a liar, deeply selfish, and a coward. That hasn’t changed. We want to see the good in Rumple. It’s there, but the man is flawed, and his flaws control him.
Perhaps, like Baelfire, we are naive for trusting Rumple when he said he’d only broken one deal in his life. He’s never been afraid to lie or cheat, and it probably made him feel better to convince himself that he’d only ever broken the one deal with his son.
He’s a liar. In season one, it was easy to believe he didn’t break deals, but knowing what we know now, why would anyone take Rumple on his word? His deals have never been mutually beneficial anyway.
The only reason he made the deal with Baelfire in the first place is because he never thought Baelfire would find a way to go to another land and start a new life. This is a man who wants it all. He chose his power over his son and then did it again with Belle. If you think of marriage as a contract, then he’s also broken a very sacred deal with Belle.
Rumple lies…
Still, he’s one of my fav characters.

ParticipantI don’t know why, but I feel in my bones that the writers had the Marian-is-really-Zelena thing planned since season 3. I don’t give the writers a lot of credit these days, but in this case, I think it was actually planned.
So if this is true, there could be major repercussions depending on how Zelena accomplished this. My theories:
1. The Zelena disguised as Marian is a past version of Zelena, who was brought to the future by Emma and Hook. If this is true, then the timeline would change unless Zelena was sent back to her present (in past Enchanted Forest). If this Zelena stays in the future (the present for us) in Storybrooke, then nothing in season 3B would’ve ever happened. So, Neal would still be alive – having said that, i think that make this the most least likely possibility. Dead is dead… if your name is Neal/Baelfire.
2. The green smoke (Zelena’s magic/soul released after Rumple kills her) that opens the time portal did more than just open the time portal. This entity of green smoke traveled with Emma and Hook back in time to the Enchanted Forest. There, it sought out Marian and inhabited her body to deprive Regina of her happy ending – Robin Hood. If Z were a jelly girl, she’d have killed Robin, but this green girl is envious, so she wants that happy ending for herself. After all, Z wants Regina’s life because she feels it’s rightfully hers.
When we first meet Robin Hood and Marian in season 2’s “Lacey,” Marian is sick. I can’t help but wonder if the green smoke entity made Marian sick when it inhabited her body. Robin went looking for a magical cure, but what he did with the wand gave Zelena full control of Marian’s body.
Also, in this scenario, Zelena would still be without her magic. After losing the amulet that Glinda gave her, she lost her magic. So she (the green smoke entity) literally trapped herself in Marian’s body with no way out. This is why Zelena still looked like Marian when she left Storybrooke.
I can’t help but wonder too, if maybe this green smoke entity inhabited Marian’s dead body after whatever happened that Robin blames himself for.
3. Zelena and the Book of Records: When Zelena died by Rumple’s hand, a past version of herself read it in the Book of Records. Maybe once Regina changed and used light magic, she changed her fate/found a new path, which was also became what was written in the Book of Records. Zelena (from the past) then formulated a new plan to get to Regina through Robin. Maybe Zelena killed Marian (in past enchanted forest) and took over her body.
THis would go against LOST’s #1 rule of time travel: Whatever happened, happened. However, this season is somewhat about changing your story. As Regina works hard to be a good person, we see a page from the book that never existed, so maybe the past isn’t set in stone. (As for me, i prefer Whatever happened, happened.)
Maybe all of these theories are off, but i like speculating.

ParticipantSo if Mal and Lilly are mother and daughter, could the secret Snow and Charming are hiding have to do with Lilly?
What if snow and charming did something that resulted in sending Lilly to a Land Without Magic, separating a mother (Mal) from her child. THis could also explain snow’s nightmares.
Since Snow experienced the same thing with Emma, she’d want to hide the fact that she and charming did this to another mother.
Maybe they did it for heroic reasons, but it’s still really dark to separate a mother and child, something snow knows all to well.
PanTheMan
ParticipantDid anyone else notice the gleaming Tree with the white aura (in the canadian promo)?
If i had to guess it was one of the enchanted trees used to make the wardrobe.
What if Snow and Charming are part of the reason there was only 1 left for Emma. Maybe 2 of the QoD made use of one of the trees.

ParticipantNot to mention Pan and Zelena both had green magic too.
Another color would’ve been nice.

ParticipantConsidering that we haven’t seen how the Chernabog got trapped in the hat, I think we will see it again.
Sure, we can just trust that someone, maybe Rumple, eventually put the Chernabog in the hat, but since we haven’t seen it yet, makes me think it’s not gone. Should we end up getting to see how the demonic beast came to be in the hat, I think there will be more to the chernabog than we currently know.
PanTheMan
ParticipantSince Ursula and Cruella haven’t aged, they couldn’t have been in A Land Without Magic for too long.
Maybe Snow and Charming had a chance to reunite with Emma in our world, but something happened, and it was Cruella and Ursula who came to our world instead.
Snow and Charming don’t want Emma to know bc once again they chose to do the right thing rather than do what’s right for their daughter.
Just a theory. I admit, secret baby would be more dramatic. But I want to know how Ursula and Cruella came to our world and when.
PanTheMan
ParticipantSecret baby
Please, no! I kept thinking what it could be, but I kept coming back to secret baby.
The reason I cringe is because I don’t know how believable the writers could make that secret baby story line.
PanTheMan
ParticipantQuestion is, how did Chernabog get in the hat? I have an idea. I suspect it was the Sorcerer who created the Dark Curse, and had Chernabog guard it. However, when Chernabog failed to protect it, he absorbed him into the hat as punishment.
Love it!
No, I do not think we’ve seen the last of Chernabog. Considering the way the chernabog came out of the hat, I think the chernabog was orginally supposed to come out of the urn last season (according to rumors i’ve hear about 2 endings being filmed), but then the Frozen Arc was approved, and it was Elsa who came out of the urn.
If that’s true, i think the Chernabog will be the Black Fairy.
Speaking of fairies, the Blue Fairy was acting pretty shady this episode.
PanTheMan
Participant“Maybe it is a fairy.”
So if the Chernabog is the black fairy, this season could be shaping up to one of the best for me.
