ParticipantIf any of this is true, I can’t be certain that the Sorcerer is all good. Lost Reference time: in some ways the Sorcerer is shaping up to be the Jacob of OUAT. Thoughts? What do you think the Author’s motivations are?
I think this is a really interesting theory. Concerning the belief aspect, sounds very similar to Neil Gaiman’s American Gods. I wonder if it could be that recorded stories/fairytales are what “maintains” these realms as they are, as “stable”? I agree that I don’t think we can yet come to any conclusions about where the Sorcerer and the Author fall on the morality spectrum. I like the idea of the Sorcerer being OUAT’s Jacob actually. Then who would be the Man in Black?
My guess the Man in Black equivalent would be Rumple. In this show, they just call him the Dark One.

ParticipantJust thought of something.
Robin owns a tavern. Could this be the same tavern that Tink led Regina to for her soul mate? I think that’s a strong possibility.
Rumple is interfering with Robin Hood’s life – possibly because he doesn’t want him and Regina falling in love, ruining his chances of Regina casting the curse. Maybe he even brought in the Author to help him change Regina’s story, thus alternate page 23 from the book.
If all this is true, it definitely makes me think that this is pre Lacy.
If Robin Hood’s motivations are a girl, then it could possibly be Regina, but if that’s true, there would have to be some memory forgetting spells, probably the Author’s involvement, and maybe a face changing spell for Robin because they want to explain the different actor in “Lacy.”
I’m wondering if we’re going to see Rumple actively trying to separate Regina and Robin. He could be trying to keep them from meeting (he would despise tink like all fairies for helping regina find Robin) or possibly tear them apart after they’ve met as depicted in alternate page 23.
Is page 23 an Alternate Universe, or is it something that happened in the past and somehow between Rumple and the Author’s involvement, they made it appear as though it never happened?
Thoughts?

ParticipantI’ll say this.
It’s hard for me to judge or even condemn the despicable actions taken by Snowing in the last episode. At first I blamed them, then the Apprentice, but then he turned around and confronted the Author saying…
“What did you make me do to that child.” Or, something like that.
This is really more the Author’s darkness at work than Snow and Charming’s. This episode in particular really blurred the lines between free will and the Author’s power to write the stories into existence. The Author only seemed to manipulate Snow and Charming, but then he actually controlled the Apprentice’s actions.
As soon as it was over, you see Snowing immediately regret what they’d done. It almost felt like they were aware that they were OUT OF CHARACTER. Then, they immediately rededicate themselves to being heroes.
This is frustrating for me. I want people to be held accountable for their actions, but the Author’s influence makes me hesitate to judge characters since they might not have full control.
For the Author to MAKE the Apprentice do something proves that he is powerful. I just want to know how far back the Author’s power goes and what other stories he has corrupted. I think he definitely has a hand in Regina’s story somewhere, if for no other reason than the alternate page 23 of her a Robin meeting in the tavern.

ParticipantZelena had the Book of Records from Oz, which actually had future events in it.
I think Zelena of the past read in the book what her future self did in Storybrooke, so Past Zelena knew her plan would fail and came up with a different plan, taking advantage of Hook and Emma going back in time. She took over Marian’s body and came back to the future.
Or, you know, green pendent/horcrux released her soul, and it possessed Marian.

ParticipantAw, mini-Emma in Snow’s vision.. She was so adorable up until the point she crushed Snow’s heart. I think because Snow was already worried when she touched the unicorn’s horn, that’s why she saw what she did. While Charming was already optimistic that things were going to be okay, he had a positive vision. It’s like a mood ring.
I agree. I think this is a little bit self-fulfilling prophecy. Because Snow already believes the worst about unborn Emma, she’s going to put in motion the events that lead to the future she saw.

ParticipantIn David’s vision, the baby could’ve passed for a boy, so maybe he saw baby Neal’s future.
Which would explain why in the pilot, David told Rumple that their unborn baby was a boy.

ParticipantI like what i’m reading, but I don’t think we know enough about The Dark One entity to know how this will end for Rumple.
The longer the show has gone on, the more I’ve started to think that The Dark One is a parasitic entity completely separate from its host – Rumple for the time being. Season 4 has really supported this idea for me.
Concerning the Sorcerer and the Apprentice, we learned from the Apprentice that “every Dark One tries” to get the Sorcerer’s hat. Why? The fact that all Dark Ones try to get the hat links them. Something about the Dark One Curse compels them (the hosts) to seek the Hat, because they are being controlled by this Curse/Entity in way they don’t fully understand.
I’m not saying Rumple doesn’t have to take responsibility for his evil, but what if his motivations weren’t always his own.
No matter what, I want to know the origins of the First Dark One before Rumple dies. I think knowing the story of the first Dark One would explain a lot and help us better to understand Rumple’s possible ending.
However i will say this. Just the line about Emma warning Hook “If you stab him, it will be your name written on the dagger,” make me think that we will definitely see a NEW Dark One at some point before the series ends.

ParticipantWhen you consider how they meshed Ursula’s story with the original The Little Mermaid, then it does make some sense.

ParticipantI think Cruella will be similarly underdeveloped, though at least she’s sticking around in present day SB longer than Ursula is
You shush your mouth. I am honestly enjoying her. Don’t take this from me!
I have faith that Cruella will be more developed than Ursula. Even villains need a weak link, and it made sense for it to be Ursula, I think. However, Cruella will deliver on that evil. They’ve been planning Cruella for several seasons now, so I think her backstory will be one of the best this season. They have too much fun with the character for it not to be.

ParticipantWith the Author being trapped, I keep getting flashbacks of Jefferson being trapped and forced to make the hats.
Just makes me think the Author will be a victim, and then the Sorcerer will be evil.
