ParticipantI loved Will’s comment about Hook sucking up to Henry.
“Befriending the son to get in with the mum. No one will ever see through that.”
Bless you Will Scarlet. LOL[adrotate group="5"]Phee
ParticipantAlso, I’m going to point out an interesting parallel. Last week we had Will Scarlet carying around a picture of the Red Queen (aka Anastasia), his true love, in his pocket. This week we have Emma holding onto a picture of Neal (her canon true love) in a box. Dare I say neither Will nor Emma has really “moved on”?
That reminds me of another thing from this ep. Not only did we have a, “Well that photo existing is technically impossible because no one was there to actually take the photo,” moment with SF, they also had Regina looking at a pic of her and Robin that technically also shouldn’t have existed because it was really just a screencap. As problematic as I find OQ, they do seem to be pretty set in stone as far as the writers are concerned, and here we got a similar pic moment of SF in the same ep as the OQ pic moment.
Honestly though, I just dunno what they’re trying to imply, because yeah they might be seeming to ram home that SF is an important thing, but at the same time they’re forging ahead with CS at a fast pace. If I had faith in the writers, I’d be willing to go along with the idea you suggested Slurpeez, that it’s painting CS in the unhealthy rebound light. But, the faith, ’tis not there.

ParticipantI thought by the end of this ep we’d see a mirror shattered to tie into the original Snow Queen story, and the next several eps would be the fallout from all the shards making people see and do bad stuff. Maybe that’s still a thing she intends to do, she just had to get the right mirror bits put together first so it can cause maximum devastation?
Her little mirror monologue was one of the best bits of dialogue on the show in a while.

ParticipantWe are presented with an orphaned girl with a pentagram shaped mark on her wrist. Her is name Lilith, the name of a female demon from myth
It is kind of curious that they named her Lilith, when frankly, Lillian might have felt more fitting due to Marian being the source of conflict in the present day situation they were trying to parallel.
The wrist star though, I’m inclined to just put that down to a reason that Emma got the flower tatt on her wrist, as a means to try and counteract the bad memory of the wrist star.

ParticipantDid anyone else but me feel that there were many callbacks to Tallahassee in this episode?
Just got done watching it and God YES. The tag team food stealing, the fact that they squatted in a house by the water (“Is it near a beach?”), Lily talking about them having a HOME together, Emma walking away from a car (not a Bug, but still), Lily was in and that being the cut off point of their relationship. I know the Emma/Lily stuff was primarily about Emma/Regina (they even cast someone who could almost be a young Lana), but it just screamed a whole lotta SF to me too. Then they topped it off with that SF photo.
Also, I figured out what bugged me about that scene…why was it Hook she was sharing that stuff with? Like, wouldn’t either of her parents also want to know about her childhood, probably moreso than Hook? Why couldn’t that scene have been at the apartment, instead of randomly in the office?

ParticipantI just went to tweet JMo and wondered for a minute why it wasn’t auto-completing, before I remembered I no longer follow her, (just have her on my OUAT List). *sigh* Anyway, this is what I sent her: @jenmorrisonlive If only they’d let you portray Emma’s genuine loss of Neal as a consistent thing. You were great in that one moment tonight
I could have gotten a bit ranty about it, “ya know, because she did love him and he died in her arms a couple weeks ago max in the show’s timeline, so her not being over him and having a strong reaction to seeing photos of him is actually a believable thing.” But I kept it simple, and hopefully she sees it and hopefully she too knows that whatever the scripts say, Neal still did matter a helluva lot to Emma.

ParticipantThanks for the link DSB. Not sure how I feel about it on first watch. Seems like her having that strong of a reaction is a thing they should bring up again and discuss (if I had that reaction to a pic of an ex in front of my new bf I’d expect that to be an issue) but I’m sure it won’t be brought up again…so I’m conflicted.

Participantand while them not ignoring Neal makes me so happy I also feel baited it’s like A&E saying “So we know we took away your favorite character and killed by your ship but here’s a little picture to keep you watching our show and our ratings up” Does anyone else feel that way or am I just cynical?
I haven’t watched it yet, but my cynicism is at such levels that when I read everyone’s comments about it my first thought was “But she’ll be totes over the loss again by next week and it’ll be like this perfect scene didn’t even happen. *sigh*

Participant…you’re putting your faith in the Blue Fairy, so it’s probably safer to just not wish. 😛
Headcanon: The old wizardey mouse guy was the author of The Book. Now he’s been… uh… zapped into a hat? so the responsibility falls to the new Apprentice, Henry.
(Think he can author his father back to life?)
Before 404 I mighta thought that’s a thing he’d want to do. But then he went and used his dead father to trick his grandfather, so I don’t think he particularly cares enough about his father to want to bring him back.
